Guest Drama

I thought we were in the clear, invites went out and we managed to track down all RSVPs, we did our tables, we were good.  That is until yesterday...

Background, we had a little drama in the beginning of the guest list stages regarding friends of our parents.  We told our parents if they wanted to have friends there they would need to help us pay for them since we are paying for everything ourselves and had to cut some of our people out due to cost reasons.  His parents said okay and that they understood and no need to invite their friends.

I have no idea what FMIL told her friend, but I get an email from her friend yesterday, a friend that I've met once in my life for about 3 hours.  She asks me if it's too late to come to the wedding.  Seriously, our wedding is in 45 days and why not email your friend or my fiance?.  I talk to my fiance and we decide whatever it's just one person we can fit her in, better that than cause anymore drama, but he wanted to talk to his mom first to make sure she was aware (which she wasn't, but would really love for this friend to be there).  I had busy day at work and didn't get back to her in time I guess, so I get an second email!  Saying if it's a problem to just let her know and that will be that.  Not only did she invite herself to our wedding last minute, she then got pushy that I didn't respond to her ASAP!

I'm trying to take the high road, but the bridezilla in me came out last night for the first time!  My poor fiance had to listen to it too.

*end vent *  thanks for listening!!

Hahaha oh, lord. I feel for you.

I was getting emails the MORNING OF MY WEDDING from a certain guest who asked how she was supposed to get to the ceremony venue at Springs Preserve. This was despite having set up a shuttle and giving her all the information she needed. Seriously? Get a cab, hitchhike, whatever, if you didn't read any of the information we provided. I was dealing with a no show hairstylist, missing breakfast and having to do my own makeup because I missed my make up appointment dealing with the hair situation.

    This was me:

Some people just have no clue, period. Hugs, and hang in there! Some people are just more high maintenance guests than others, but it will all be worth it.

  • Ohhhhhhh Im completely over guest drama! We have what I like to call a hokey pokey guest. They are in.... then they are out.... now they are back in again. Welll guess what? Ive already printed my seating chart and place cards so I can accommodate you... but you wont appear on the chart and wont have a place card. Is that rude? YES! Do I care? HELL NO!

@Ktbabe I hope your FMIL will be footing the cost for this "extra". Are you sure its just 1 person? And that she isnt going to then invite her partner/kid/other BFF??!! Im tellin ya... weddings bring out the worst in guest etiquette.

  • I just had one of my bridesmaids start to freak out about her travel arrangements. When I went to her wedding, I had to book air and figure out lodging all on my own. She should do the same! But no, could I please play travel agent for her while planning the wedding? <sigh> Time for the Travelocity trip notification tip!
