Shoe Help (mostly)!! I guess I just need help getting dressed :-)

Hello ladies!!

I bought this dress:


but now I need help with shoes.  I typically just do heels, but I had a little mishap involving a laundry basket, stairs, a 113lb Newfoundland dog (Nessie) and gravity. . . so now my ankle is not very happy with me.

I was THINKING wedges - but I'm not sure I trust my ankle in even a wedge.  These are the ones I was looking at:


I'd LOVE the pink pair but I think that would be too much.


The type of event I'm looking for is a Sunday evening date to the theater district.  I'm short (5'3") so I do tend to go towards more of a heel, I'm open to flats but I tend to be picky about them (I've never had a pair I would consider comfortable).  I was hoping to keep the shoes below $40 because my normal every day attire tends to be t-shirt, jeans, sneakers.

Help dress me ladies!!


EDIT:  I almost forgot - I was hoping this dress would be a little more versatile where I could dress it up for a weekend date night or to wear to work.  For work, it's always cold - so I'd need either a cardigan/jacket - looking for color help with that one too (do I just do a little black jacket/cardigan and black shoes?).

I'd go with the neutral colored wedges. 

to dress it up, I think I'd stay away from a black jacket or cardi and black shoes, and go with maybe a coral (and neutral wedges) or navy (and neutral wedges).

I love the dress! You can definitely wear it several different ways. And I like the neutral wedges too, but if you think your ankle might not hold up then I would play it safe and go for some pretty flats or sandals.

@Dignity100 The cut of those wedges look like they would give me major blisters in a heartbeat. If your feet are sensitive at all...I'd avoid them.

Here are two options in your budget that are a neutral color. The first one is an Aerosole. I have a pair of Aerosole wedges that are seriously the most comfortable things ever and they've held up under very heavy wear.

Ok...these next two shoes are over budget. $60 a pair. HOWEVER...they are Franco Sarto and that brand has never ever ever steered me wrong. I love all of my Franco Sarto shoes. They are good quality and they hold up extremely well. Plus they are super comfortable and they've never given me a blister even after wearing them all day long before they get broken in. I really can't recommend this brand enough. Personally, I'll always pay a little bit more for a pair of shoes if I plan on wearing them on a regular basis. The extra $20 is usually worth it.

ETA: I love your dress and I think it's adorable. I agree with @CocoBellaF I'd wear a coral shrug with it and neutral shoes. Or a cute camel brown motorcycle jacket for really cool nights.

Thanks ladies!!  I like more of a peep-toe to closed toe shoe than a sandal (I'm embarrassed of my feet because my toe next to my big toe overlaps the middle toe a bit).

I like the first one a little more than the second. Although gray is a great shoe color to have. I used to have a pair of light gray heels with really wide straps in a gladiator kind of style and some of the straps broke after a couple of years. They went with practically everything and I really miss them.
