The bridal bouquet.

I'm waffling between a white bouquet or something more colorful. I think both look lovely.

Which did you choose & why?

Re: The bridal bouquet.

  • I *think*  I am going with blush roses. I like the idea of all white but I'm afraid there may not be enough contrast between that and my dress and the bouquet will blend in.

  • I'm going all out color on mine. I'm not using a whole lot of color in the rest of my wedding (green apples with white hydrangeas and navy blue overlays on the tables, any other decorations will be done in neutrals) so I wanted to do a pop of color somewhere. FI gets me flowers all the time from a local florist in our town. They always do a fantastic job with making up these beautiful, colorful bouquets for him. So I know they'll do a great job on my bouquet and it will be special since FI always gets me flowers from there so it'll be a nice little symbolic representation of our relationship. And it will HAVE to have a bright pink gerber daisy in it somewhere since every bouquet he's gotten me has had at least one included.
  • I am leaning color but I don't know much about flowers.  I initially wanted a huge color explosion, but our colors are blush and teal, and teal flowers are hard to find.  My dress will (hopefully) be blush, so white flowers might actually pop against it.

  • Full color.  White bouquets are pretty but I find that they get lost next to the dress (unless you aren't wearing white then a white bouquet against a colored dress would be amaze-balls).

I also like full color bouquets because then you can really see each individual flower.  Unlike with all white or all one color bouquet where the flowers just meld together.

  • I'm doing white roses with purple heather & caspia. I wanted mostly white but with some color, so I chose to use our accent color (purple) in the bouquet, researched purple filler flowers, and fell in love with the look of heather and caspia. It will look something like this:

  • I did a brooch bouquet with greys, greens, blacks, silvers. The florist then combined it all with white flowers. I loved it!

  • I want colourful because I don't want it to blend in with my dress.

  • I did red, white and Blue (July 3rd bride) I didn't want all white bc of it blending with my white dress. :)

  • I did all white flowers with some greenery accents and I don't think it blended in...  All of our flowers were white and I think they were lovely (obviously a bit biased).

    I love your bouquet!

  • I'm doing a mix, it will be pretty close to this.
  • We wanted bright flowers.  So, we went with apple green mums, white hydrangeas and wine colored, white tipped daisies for the bouquets and centerpieces.  And some other flowers for our table.

  • @elcab Here is another picture so you can see how it looked against my white dress.  keep in mind that most flowers aren't pure white and not all white flowers are the same shade (some will be more ivory and some a little green).  If you add just a bit of greenery you won't have a problem with it "blending in".

  • I hate all white with a white dress. I basically stole @maggie0829 's bouquet picture and told the florist "this". (except all green and white, purple wouldn't match my bridesmaids)

My bridesmaids will be in navy dresses with white polka dots and their bouquets are all white.

  • I'm going with color. My florist looked at me like I was a little crazy, but f her. My girls are going to be in coral dresses, so I want them to have light white and blush bouquets, then I want mine to be more colorful with blush, coral and white.

I asked for something like this, but reversed:

  • My bouquet was a peachy-blush and burgundy.  The colors were beautiful for a fall wedding.  I personally feel that primarily white/ivory bouquets tend to get lost next to a white dress.  I gave my MOH a more neutral bouquet to stand out against her burgundy dress.
  • I'm going with a mix of ivory/whites, blushes, and some silver brunia berries. I agree with PP that an all-white bouquet will get lost against the dress, but at the same time, I don't want a bouquet so colorful that it's all that people see when I'm coming down the aisle!

  • I'm going with muted colors, similar to this but no feathers. ("No animals will be harmed in the making of this bouquet...")

  • I'm making a bouquet out of book pages. I'm going to tie it with a green ribbon to match my dress.

Mine was peach and cream, with accents of pink and green. Soooo pretty. All white isn't my style (hell, I didn't even wear a white dress). I had really bright reception flowers, but at the time that I picked my bouquet, my mom was still bent out of shape about my hot pink dress so chose more low-key flowers. They stood out against my dress, but didn't steal too much focus from it.

  • I am a sunflower kind of girl.  Originally I wanted a sunflower bouquet but decided to incorporate purples as well.  Bridesmaids' bouquets were pure sunflowers.  The boutonnieres were either black eyed susans or mini sunflowers (can't remember).

  • I like white for the BM's and Coloured for the bride. It makes hers stand out a bit more and not get lost in the dress too.

    Love this idea!
    or like this
Roses, anemones, dahlias and ranunculus...great colors

  • I'm going with something like this, but I did give my florist license to be creative. I had originally planned for my maids to have baby's breath bouquets, but I am using baby's breath everywhere else, so thought it might be nice to mix it up for all of the bouquets.

  • My bouquet will be blush pink roses and peonies.  I wanted color

  • I did pink and cream roses and Belles of Ireland which are green. I'm not a fan of all white.

  • Mine will be Queen of The Night tulips (they're a very dark purple) the darkest purple of the Moon series carnation, and Halloween roses (a dusty purple). My dress is ivory so I can't wait to see the contrast!

  • I did a white bouquet with some green berries for just a tiny bit of color.  Colorful bouquets are pretty, but I always feel my eye is drawn there first when it should be on the bride!
  • I did tropical, so they were super bright in colour.  We had very little decor, white linens, so the flowers added some pops of colour.  Also, my other 2 choices were roses, which were too formal for me, or cascading lilies (I think), and I really am not a fan of cascading bouquets.  They look too old fashioned for me.

  • I'm going to have a mixture of light and medium pink roses. I love pink, and my favorite flowers have always been roses. I totally don't care that other people think roses are overdone. I want only roses in my bouquet.
  • I opted for a peach, ivory, and purple bouquet for me and a peach and ivory bouquet for my kiddo.  A friend made them from fabric.
