Re: I think I would have killed someone - UPDATE in Comments

  • Most of you know that I am a retired church organist.  Back when I was working I received several emergency calls from hysterical brides who had just learned that Aunt Hattie had promised to play the music for free, but she couldn't handle the pipe organ, and could I please come NOW and play for the wedding?  LOL!

My cousin's wedding started an hour and forty-five minutes late.  One of the issues was the music, but she was also being sewn into the dress and they were still making the wedding party bouquets an hour after the wedding was supposed to start.
I would have left.  No way am I sitting for an hour and 45 minutes of nothing.  Nope. No way. Nu-uh.
Yeah, that doesn't work when you're 8 hours away from where you live and you carpooled with your parents, sister, BIL, and nephew.

Did the bride try to call the musician friends?  I'd have been on my phone to them after about 10 minutes.
No clue.  Didn't want to focus on that with her.  Instead, we danced a lot.

Reply:  Your attitude was fantasic!  I've seen brides throw bitch hissy fits over much less than that.  Deal the hand you were dealt, sometimes that's just called life.

  • My cousin played guitar as I walked down the aisle at my wedding earlier this month. This thread was why I had back up music ready to go. It worked out, but I'm glad I read this!
