Marriage licence bureau

Hiya

Like most of you, I'm planning to do the online application in advance, and pick up the licence a couple of days before the wedding.

From looking at a map, the bureau doesn't seem that far from Fremont Street, and we were thinking of combining the two since we'll be in that area, going to pick up the licence early evening and then heading over to Fremont Street afterwards - can anyone that's been tell me, is it easily walkable from the licence office to Fremont Street, and is it a safe area, or would you not recommend it?

Re: Marriage licence bureau

  • Yup, only a couple of blocks to the Fremont Experience. Safe as houses in the daytime as the Marriage licensing is in the Regional Justice Center where county and city courthouse are located so lots of ppl around.  depending on how late & what day of the week it is, could be a little sketchy at night.
  • Perfectly safe during the day, incredibly close. If you are a traditional couple (guy and girl) walking together around the marriage bureau, you will be accosted by people trying to recruit you for their chapel. My first marriage went like this: We went to the bureau, didn't know that we had to get a license there first, and left. A black van saw us walking and someone yelled at us, "Are you getting married?" The van pulled a u-turn in the middle of the street (street was empty) and the passenger gave us a flyer, a rose, and a quick run-down deal on what they'd do for us.

So just be prepared and be on your merry way!

  • Awesome, thanks guys, I think I'll get a cab over from the strip and then walk over to Fremont afterwards then, it's all coming together :)
  • I just looked up the address and realized they are open until midnight every night!

I think we'll hit up Fremont St while we are over there too!  Great idea!
We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

  • We did that when we got married.  Cab over to the bureau, license, Fremont, cab back to the strip.
