  • @bubblegum1309 that makes sense. I love scary stuff, so that is why it is my favorite. If you don't like scary then I can see not liking season 2

My partner and I have been trading TV shows. Basically, every show that one of us loves but the other person hasn't seen, we watch together. Here's our list:

    Arrested Development
    Parks and Rec
    Psych
    Doctor Who (new Who)
    Friends
    How I Met Your Mother
    Cheers
    Scrubs
    Frasier
    Pushing Daisies
    Dead Like Me
    Wonderfalls
    Veronica Mars
The West Wing (only the first 4 seasons)
    Supernatural
    Castle
    Party Down

We had both seen 30 Rock and Monk already; love those shows.

Of the shows listed above, the ones I can't recommend highly enough are Arrested Development and Veronica Mars. AD is on Netflix, and VM is on Amazon Instant (although we had to rent discs for it back when we were watching).

Shhhhh, I missed the last season when it aired so now I'm catching up on Netflix but of course I had to start over from the beginning.
I won't give any spoilers, but I will say that I wasn't overly impressed with the last season. It was okay, but it started to really stretch on plot lines and believablity. The last couple of episodes, though, were awesome.

ALSO! I've gotten back into "Leverage" now that it's in syndication and being shown at a time I can actually watch it. It's very "Oceans 11"-ish, and Christian Kane is yummy.

  • jdluvr06 - ughhh too twisted for me. (*****SPOILER ALERT FOR AMERICAN HORROR STORY******) I HATE scary things!! I watched the first season because Hubby begged me and it was around Halloween when it started. I ended up really liking it so when the second season came I was up for it again. WAYYYYY too much violence and gore for me. And it went in too many directions with the devil possessing people with the random angel of death and even more random aliens just showed up?!!? The part with the nympho getting raped and waking up with her legs chopped off and then turned into the science experiment and escaped... just haunted me, like in my dreams! Oh yea and Bloody face haunted me too. Too much for me! I liked the 3rd season because I find witchcraft and voodoo very interesting, but it wasn't scary. I think season 4 at the carnival could be good - think freak show and clowns.... ughhh creeeeeppppyyyy

mysticl I did hear that! I see what your saying, but I loved that show for so long I can't let it totally ruin it for me. The alternate ending will be interesting. I get that it was portraying "real life" but I live in real life I wanted the happy ending we waited for for 8 years!!! Plus they make you FALL IN LOVE with the mother,,, she is perfect for Ted!

lolo883 I didn't know that. I wasn't impressed with the Netflix streaming the first time, that is why I went to discs and just do 2 at a time!
Exactly!!!! I didn't watch the show from the beginning.  DH and I found it about 5-6 years ago and started watching.  I would also catch reruns here and there.  I fully intended to watch it again on Netflix so I could se it from the beginning but now I'm like "what's the point?"  Did you hear about the "spin off"?  "How I Met You Dad"

  • Yeah we've had bad luck with our cable co throttling Netflix streaming speeds, but that hasn't happened yet with Amazon. Knock on wood!

  • Can someone please tell me what amazon prime is?  I would love to get rid of my cable and I am looking for alternatives.

@ktjanesmom Amazon Prime is the annual subscription that gets you free 2-day shipping on certain Amazon.com items. They now also offer streaming. Some things are free, others (like new episodes) you can buy at a discount. They also have a Fire TV service now that I'm not sure how/whether it's different. Their library is smaller but growing quickly right now.

I typically dislike the general public so I love shopping with Prime. TV is just a bonus. :)

ETA: so the Fire TV thing is basically just a $99 wifi box through which you can stream Prime instant video, Netflix, Hulu, etc if you don't have another wifi-enabled device like a smart tv, Bluray or Xbox.

  • My two shows I always recommend to people (not sure if you will like them though because I see zero sci fi in your categories) are Firefly and Torchwood. Best. Shows. Ever. and there aren't a ton.

Firefly only had like 13 episodes because it got canceled really quick. HOWEVER that being said, it is also the only show in history to have such a huge uproar from the cancellation that the cancelled show got it's own movie on the big screen called Serenity. It's Joss Whedon (the guy that did Buffy and The Avengers and now Agents of Shield).

Then Torchwood is a Dr. Who spinoff and just...yeah just Torchwood. Just yeah.

  • Pushing Daisies is great! My roomie and I have been marathoning Parenthood; we love it.
  • Ditto everyone who recommended Parenthood. I binge watch it off and on and I love it. It always makes me so emotional though! Seriously, half the episodes make me cry!

House was recently added to Netflix instant streaming so if you like Grey's Anatomy you would probably enjoy it if you haven't already seen it already.

Doctor Who is amazing but there is A LOT to catch up on.

Sherlock is fantastic. Each episode is an hour and a half but there are only 3 seasons.

Psych is one of my all-time favorite shows! It recently ended but it's absolutely worth watching!

    Warehouse 13 is excellent.

Battlestar Galactica is amazing. SO and I are almost finished with the last season!

Firefly is also awesome and totally worth watching even though it was ended way too soon.

Falling Skies is also a pretty decent show. I'm behind on that one though but it's not too far in so there's not a lot of seasons to catch up on.

I like science fiction shows in case you couldn't tell :)

I love me some Captain Jack Harkness.

Yes! Warehouse 13 is awesome! I also watched Eureka, which had some cross-over and was also awesome.
