Has anyone had to purchase special event liability insurance for their hotel reception vendor? I know that is often a standard clause in contracts but that is typically when I am working from a corporation stand point. Do brides and grooms have to show proof of liability insurance for their wedding at the hotels in New Orleans?

I'm having my reception at the omni and they do not require us to purchase insurance. I've obtained the policy manuals from several venues back when I was choosing a venue and none of them mentioned purchasing insurance.

I am getting married at Gallier Hall and we had to purchase a single day liability policy naming the city as an additional insured.  We just did an endorsement through our homeowner's.  It was no problem.  Our agent worked it up for us in a day and it cost all of $50.
