Friday Confessions

So, that "address your own thank you note" thread derailed into a discussion about going to the dentist.  It's confession time.

I haven't been to the dentist in years.  And I've had insurance the whole time.  I just don't like doctors/dentists.

I am making an appointment today, because that's absurd.

I also don't think I've had a routine physical since I was a kid.  Better get on that too.

Anyone else a terrible patient?

Re: Friday Confessions

  • I'm good with the dentist. Not so with the doctor, only go when I think i'm dying, haven't had a proper physical in............. a while. Was very good with the lady doctor in my whoring days. Not so much now that I'm forever monogamous.

My confession. I think Justin Timberlake and Beyonces new music sucks.

Also, terrfified that the ladies doing my pedicure today will be appalled at my feet.

    How very dare youuuuuuu!!!!

I love B's most recent album, but I am not into JT's new stuff at all. FS/LS was amazing and he needs to figure that shit out.

    My confession:
I really want to play my computer game instead of working on paintings or cleaning my house or doing social obligations this weekend. I want to do absolutely nothing but slay baddies while running around in armor and have a RHOA/Golden Girls marathon playing in the background.

  • I haven't seen a general/family doctor in about 6 years.  I do go to the dentist and GYN on a regular basis.

Confession:  It is slow at work right now, I have only spent 1-2 hours a day doing actual work this week.  I've been doing a lot of Knotting and online window shopping for our new house that we move into next week.

Work has been crazy slow for me too. My coworkers and I pretty much spend our days sitting at our desk, doing crosswords and reading waiting for people to walk in.

  • I haven't been to the dentist for about 7 months.. I need to make an appointment.

I have had five groups of kids come through and all I'm thinking about is my lunch.

I still need to do laundry and empty the car but I just want to eat popcorn and watch catfish.

  • I guess this is pretty common, but I haven't been doing much work either, not that there is much to do. I have been having a lot of anxiety surrounding our wedding lately. I am just really anxious for it to be here and I am tired of waiting and I have five months left and I feel like its never going to come. I really should be concentrating on getting through the wedding I am invited to in June and our vacation in July, but I feel consumed by my wedding.

7 months is not confession worthy lol.

  • @grumbledore‌ it is to me! I'm always paranoid of my teeth. I use have bad looking teeth before braces, I was called a walrus ha. So I try to make sure these puppies look on point!

  • Haven't been to the dentist in 6 years. I do take really good care of my teeth. I brush twice a day, rinse twice a day and floss every night. But still. I need a cleaning.
  • Very slow here at work too. Just the other day I was thinking how I could smuggle in my DIY projects for the wedding and work on them at my desk!

Oh no, nothing even remotely exciting. I finally discovered the addictive world of Pet Rescue. Still helping another department stuff damn packets for our conference and I "treat"myself to a level after I make it through a batch of them. Yes, my entire week has been this pathetic.

  • I'm staring at these horse shoes crabs and thinking you better get me into grad school. So I'm officially desperate to do anything to make me looking appealing.
    image
  • I also have not seen a GP in....a long, long time. I'm guessing like almost 10 years? I only see a gyno when I need to get a refill on my BC and I don't even get the exam, just a script for a refill. I should maybe work on rectifying both of these things.

I also have ZERO to do at work today. Like nothing. So I'm knotting and doing crosswords. I'm also freaking out about my house and our basement. Practically all of WNY is under a flood warning and the town ten minutes from ours was devastated by the rain and flooding we've been getting the past couple of days. Our house has been fine so far but FI went down this morning and he said there was water on the floor (not a lot but still) and the water was running in like a faucet. Really hoping our sump pump can keep up.

  • I am HORRIFIED of the dentist.  As soon as I walk into the dentist office I start crying, and as soon as they touch me I throw a tantrum toddler style - and I can't control it.  It's embarrassing.  They've started giving me tranquilizers to take before I get there but they stopped working so now and I soon as I get there they give me a drug that knocks me out and I don't remember a thing.
  • Wow, I can't imagine not going to the dentist! I LOVE the dentist. I love how my teeth feel afterwards and going is like a mini spa day. I get paraffin hand wraps and a warm neck wrap and I watch tv! ...

  • I actually do like going to the dentist, which makes it even stupider.  And it costs me literally nothing with my insurance to get a cleaning/checkup/xrays.

So basically I have paid like 5 years of insurance premiums for NOTHING.

I've actually got a lot of work to do, but I just haven't felt like doing it this week....so I've been Knotting and looking at wedding stuff on the internet. Oops. I'll get to it here in a bit and once I focus I can knock it out pretty quickly.

I hadn't gone to the dentist in years before I finally went about 6 years ago...and I haven't missed a cleaning since. I've been lucky and have had only one cavity in my life. I still hate my teeth though. I actually wear braces right now, so I'm a little miffed that I'll have bling on my grill in our wedding photos. However, I'm not going to postpone the wedding because of something like that so I'll just have to deal. :)

  • I made dentist appointments for FI and I a couple of weeks ago. We go next week. I'm normally great about going twice a year but moving and finding a new dentist threw me off. Then again, I never have issues with my teeth. FI hasn't been in a decade. I'm scared about what we're going to find in his mouth. It's likely going to be pretty bad.

Confession: I'm working from home today but have "Four Weddings" on in the background.

    Bigger, uglier confession:
I'm dreading spending the day at my grandmother's on Sunday. I've adored my grandmother for most of my life but the loss of memory, hearing (she's too vain for a hearing aid), and dementia has left her a shell of the woman I idolized. She moved into an assisted living facility a few months ago and is still angry about it. She would never live with family (nor would it be logistically easy) but couldn't live without significant assistance. She was horribly isolated in her old place (not many friends left, inconveniently far from family, etc.) and she's now closer to all of us. She keeps herself isolated in the new place and refuses to use the facility's services or meet new people. We've got weekday help for her but my sister and I are covering weekends so my parents can travel for a few well-needed weeks. She's normally great to my sister and I, horrible to my mom. And when my mom's gone, she starts taking it out on me (though never my sister). It's so hard to spend a day cleaning, doing laundry, etc. for someone who's needlessly mean- particularly when you have a ton on your own plate.

I feel like a terrible granddaughter.

As someone who has never played an MMO, or any ES games before Skyrim, I fucking love it. Sometimes I get annoyed waiting for a boss to respawn after someone else killed it, but I am obsessed and I play it a looooot. So much so, that I felt bad posting about it so much on my regular tumblr, that I made a subtumblr for it. I did a few beta sessions for it before main launch, and I was fucking hoooooooooked.

From what I have been told, it is very different from WOW, which I never played. Super fun, not really that buggy, and I had no hesitation about signing up for a 3 month subscription. You get 30 days free after registering, you sign up for a subscription in order to do that, but if you don't like it, you can cancel before the 30 days is up. Sounds pretty standard to me.

I've been busy doing art stuff for the last week, so I've only played for the last couple of nights, but it has been soooooo fun. I am not great at video games (I die a LOT), but I still have a fantastic time, and I love playing it.

I haven't been to the dentist in 3 years :( But, in my defense, I had a VERY traumatic experience.

I went in for a root canal, until they told me that my insurance didn't cover root canals for people over 21 (Seriously?! But that is when you need a root canal!). So, since it was in the back they decided to just pull the tooth. Okay, cool.

The next day I was in a TREMENDOUS amount of pain. Like, was more pain than one should be in the day after the pulling of a tooth. So, I called the dentist’s office and they totally brushed me off, saying I could call back the next day if it was still bad. Well, guess what? It was still bad. The next day I could actually feel something poking out of there so I figured, oh there is still a piece of tooth in there. No wonder it hurts. After that they finally agreed to let me come back in so that they could fix it.

When I got there, they looked at it and then x-rayed me. At which point, they discovered that it wasn't a piece of tooth coming up through my gum; it was A PICE OF MY JAW BONE. It turns out, they yanked my tooth out with such for that they actually fractured my jaw.

And that, my dears, is why I have avoid all dental professionals like the plague.

  • The last time I went to a dentist of any kind was to get my wisdom teeth out. In 2004. I hate going to the dentist. I've been to all my other doctors on a regular basis, just not the dentist. Of course, my last visit was more recently than FI's. But he's just a dude and hasn't been to any doctor since he had his appendix out in 2001.

  • I think I've had one physical in my life, and that was only because I needed them to confirm that I was NOT, in fact, on the verge of a stroke. (Blood pressure was crazy high when I went to the Gyn because of crazy shit at work, and she refused to refill my BC Rx until I got that under control because that can increase your risk of stroke. Yeah lady, imagine how stressed I'd be if I got knocked up! Anxiety meds FTW.) I almost NEVER go to the GP... never when I'm sick. My body will take care of itself eventually.

I owe my dad $400 in past cell phone payments (family plan, whoopsies) but he's not getting paid til next check because I'm having a piano moved to my house from my mom's house instead (yay!). Sorry Pops.

  • Confession: I destroyed my diet this week. I was doing really well at portion control and not having a lot of sugars and no soda. Lost 25 pounds that way, too!

And then my birthday happened, and there were steak and bacon pops, shrimp and steak, cheese everywhere, cake for days. Then last night I had a Bird's Nest (crinkle fries topped with bbq chicken and melted cheddar) from a local food truck. And for lunch I had a quesadilla and mountain dew. Bad, bad Ink. Shame on me.
