Re: Friday Confessions

  • I'm trying to do a normal nice diet, I gained 20 pounds without realizing it. But I'm mainly doing it so I don't have to buy new clothes

Confession: I destroyed my diet this week. I was doing really well at portion control and not having a lot of sugars and no soda. Lost 25 pounds that way, too!

And then my birthday happened, and there were steak and bacon pops, shrimp and steak, cheese everywhere, cake for days. Then last night I had a Bird's Nest (crinkle fries topped with bbq chicken and melted cheddar) from a local food truck. And for lunch I had a quesadilla and mountain dew. Bad, bad Ink. Shame on me.
Well, I know what I'm making for dinner tonight.

  • Oh jeez I ate an entire box of leftover Girl Scout cookies for breakfast yesterday.  I need to get my shit in gear.  I was eating like a saint for a long, long time.  Mostly thanks to FI being on board and being unemployed and making dinner and doing all of the shopping.

I found a new PCP and made an appointment for a physical!  I'm still shaking but I did it.

I've been putting this stuff off so badly.  But I know it's extra important because we may TTC right after the wedding and I need to make sure I'm not all fucked up before then.

  • I just had the realization a few weeks ago it had been about three years since the last visit so I'm going on Monday...time just slips on by and the dentist is low priority (I'm blessed with my Dad's teeth genetics so I don't have to go as often thank goodness!)

Confession - I've been verryyyy bad about my low carb diet and am trying to drink slimming tea to make up for it :-( Bad I know, but it's more of a psychological thing

Whatever else you do, don't get the "diet tea" with the ballerinas on it. You will be filled with regret and shame.

  • Oh god, I've been eating nothing but rice all week because I'm too lazy/cheap to buy more groceries this month. Lol

Confession: I almost died from pulmonary embolisms when I was 24 (caused by estrogen in the bcp)and ever since I have been a raging hypochondriac. I will go to the doctor for every little ounce of muscle pain. (which happens very often since I am a runner and currently training for a 10k)

I've got Triple Leaf brand - no ballerinas in sight! :-) It seems to be working somewhat. Again, it may just be psychological though.
  • I am sorry, DIET TEA?!?!? WTF is that...tea by nature (when fresh brewed) has no calories...I...I ...I have no words

It's not diet as in low-cal. Diet teas come in various forms: some claim to boost your metabolism, some claim to suppress hunger, and some (like the ballerina tea) are basically laxatives.

My confession: I'm secretly looking forward to FI going out of town on Monday so I can have the house to myself.
My confession is similar to yours - I am so effing happy that FI is working both tomorrow morning and Sunday morning and I can get some time alone. He's been up my butt lately and I seriously need a break.
  • Those diet teas actually work? I always assumed that it was just talk.

I need to lose 15 pounds or get my dress taken out. I can zip it, I just can't breath. I need to lose more than 15 pounds anyway but the dress was clearance and only available in the one size. I normally disagree with dieting for a dress but it's going to be $200+ to take it out.

I wonder if diet tea, spanx, and lazier dieting will do the trick?!

It's partly just an easy way to get more water, which naturally suppresses your appetite. Also the thirst mechanism is so weak it's often confused for hunger, so you eat something when you don't need to. If you have some tea instead, you save a lot of calories.

I need a break too. The past few weeks have been a bit hectic and I'm so looking forward to doing nothing by myself. Lol.

Confession number 2: my boss agreed to let me work from home Monday and Tuesday so I can enjoy having the house to myself.
  • I don't know who I hate more - the dentist or the gyno. Regardless, I need to go pay them a visit. I've been avoiding both. Ugh.

Extra confession: I feel like I have been extra grumpy lately. I'm a runner and have a stress fracture in my foot so I've been stuck in a damned boot for the past month. Fingers crossed that it's all better at my follow-up next week cuz mama ain't happy when she can't run. Also, I had lost 8 pounds and I've now gained back 3 of 'em. BOOOOOOOOOO! :(

  • Ooo got another one! I've already eaten my lunch (healthy choice meal that tasted like cardboard and was only 270 calories) but I'm going to get me a giant piece of pizza because I'm still. so. hungry.
  • I don't have anything to do at work today either. I'm going dress shopping tomorrow for the first time so I have been looking at styles online over and over and over....

I've only resorted to the diet tea (mine claims to boost digestion, metabolism and have a cleansing effect - aka laxative) because I have 9 days until the wedding and I've put on a few pounds due to a family crisis we've been dealing with since the holidays. I don't have much wiggle room to gain any more weight.

Otherwise, since I see you have a few months still, I highly recommend a low-carb/Atkins diet. I lost 26 pounds in about five months (and still had some cheat days). I try to stick to it as a lifestyle, but with the family problem we had, I've been using fries to cope.

I haven't been to the dentist in 3 years :( But, in my defense, I had a VERY traumatic experience.

I went in for a root canal, until they told me that my insurance didn't cover root canals for people over 21 (Seriously?! But that is when you need a root canal!). So, since it was in the back they decided to just pull the tooth. Okay, cool.

The next day I was in a TREMENDOUS amount of pain. Like, was more pain than one should be in the day after the pulling of a tooth. So, I called the dentist’s office and they totally brushed me off, saying I could call back the next day if it was still bad. Well, guess what? It was still bad. The next day I could actually feel something poking out of there so I figured, oh there is still a piece of tooth in there. No wonder it hurts. After that they finally agreed to let me come back in so that they could fix it.

When I got there, they looked at it and then x-rayed me. At which point, they discovered that it wasn't a piece of tooth coming up through my gum; it was A PICE OF MY JAW BONE. It turns out, they yanked my tooth out with such for that they actually fractured my jaw.

And that, my dears, is why I have avoid all dental professionals like the plague.

It's 2 o'clock, and I'm eating my 2nd lunch. I eat 2 hard boiled eggs and some toast for breakfast. I bought a 4 cup container of salad (mixed greens with bell pepper, cucumber, chick peas, black olives, and 2 oz. sliced steak) that I ate around noon. Now I'm eating a microwave pasta thing because I'm so hungry that I could eat a horse. I've already consumed almost 60 oz. of water today so it's not thirst. I still have an apple and peanut butter in my desk should I still be hungry, but this is starting to get ridiculous...

  • Confession: this is my first day ever hiring a cleaning person to come to our apartment... and I LOVE IT!  I feel so bourgeois.  I never want to clean my own house everrrrr again.

Confession 2: Just found out my student loan payments will be roughly $1k less per month than I was initially budgeting.  My first thought was: all.the.clothes.

Confession 3: Even though all my graded work is in, I still have a bunch of law school-related stuff to do before graduation on Thursday.  But with my robes already hanging in the closet I'm just thinking.... I don't wanna.

  • I confess I cannot wait for 3 PM so I can haul from work to get my massage and then have Happy Hour with some friends. I know I shouldn't leave work early since I'm busy this week but, oh fucking well. I stayed late all week. Not even one thank you from my oh so grateful boss.

I confess I'm on a strict routine about going to the dentist every 6 months ever since I was 20 and cracked a tooth and had to have a root canal. It's strange to me when people don't go to the dentist on a regular basis. I don't even like the dentist but, to me it's worth the sacrifice to have healthy teeth.

I also confess sometimes I wish I could spend all my bonuses shopping online instead of saving like a responsible adult. Woe is me.
