@phira- did you have to euthanize mice as part of your job? How awful! We are homeowners. Thanks again for the advice, this has been a real issue and nobody seems to understand why I don't want to kill him (some of the ways people kill mice are horrific-- drowning??? smashing them with something??). FFIL's advice was to hire an exterminator to bomb the outside perimeter of our house for insects and spiders. (Uh, relevance??) I will try the cubes. :)
I'm a biologist, and so we had to do some experiments on mice at my old job, and use tissue samples from mice (e.g. sometimes we'd treat mice with something or use a particular strain of mice to see if a drug or a gene was relevant to our research, and sometimes we'd just need to take some mouse tissue and see what things look like in a normal mouse). It was not enjoyable, and it was upsetting every single time I had to euthanize mice. One of my uncles teased me about it (like, "So, murder any innocent animals today?"), and I got SO upset. It's a very sad part of being a scientist, and we (scientists as a group) do not take it lightly.

  • I can't believe it's Monday already!

Friday night I was feeling really sick. I also have the period that will never end! (It's been more than a week now). So I waited for BF to get home from work and then I went to bed at about 8, so that night was wasted.

Saturday morning we got up at 6 and we banged out a lot of cleaning and organizing in the house. Most of the boxes are gone now and just a few more things need to get into place and we'll be all set. We also still need to paint. We also went to Home Depot and Lowes to get stuff for the house. BF bought a lawnmower and a grill so he was all happy. We went to my parent's for dinner and had a fire that night so it was fun.

Sunday I tried to cover up the paint in the bathroom (in reference to my post from Friday) and failed. We got the color "like butter" and the original color was "butter" made by the same company. So it now looks a little better but not really so I think I'll get a picture to hang on the wall until we decide on a new color. I then went to my cousin's baby shower and hung out with all the woman from the family, it was a lot of fun. We are all really excited for this baby, who we found out will be named Zachary. Last night BF and I went grocery shopping and then hung out and went to bed early.

I thought it was a pretty productive weekend!!

  • I hope they accept @Blue&White! That's so exciting!

I kind of like Andi. I didn't watch the entire episode because I fell asleep. The first one is usually kind of boring anyway.

  • I think I like Andi (not just b/c she is from ATL) but because she basically told Juan Pablo how it is so that's good enough for me lol. I think she is genuine too.

@phira‌- funny story. So yesterday morning, I noticed some foil under the kitchen table. Huh. I look on top of the table and the mouse had unwrapped and sampled one chocolate Easter egg! (At least this means he is having trouble getting to our food since I put everything on lockdown.). I threw it away (everything in the dish) and told FI the story.

Last night, FI is packing for a bachelor party trip and he comes in the room kind of upset. He says, "did you put that egg in my shoe??" I was all "huh? Sweetie I would not do that... There's an egg in your shoe?" He thought it might have been some kind of mean joke (?!) on my part. I told him I had thrown the egg away. We looked in the trash and there were two, both identically gnawed on. So, apparently this mouse somehow not only completely unwrapped one chocolate egg, he carrier another one somehow from the kitchen table over to the laundry room and hid it in FI's new shoe. The eggs are bigger than he is.

The mice cubes came yesterday, so I set one up. FI was very skeptical about it working, but this morning there he was! FI didn't tell me until after he released him because he said he was so cute I would want to keep him :) Long story short the cube is awesome, thanks for the advice! Now we just need to see if there's more than one in the house...

Edited because I suck at phone posts
