When I was in choir we had to travel for a competition and it was decided we'd sleep four to a room, two people in each bed. Except the choir I was in had none of my friends in it and I was out sick the day we picked room so I just got randomly assigned to one of the girls' rooms that had 3 people. It was awful. But I did get my own bed because they were deeply homophobic and afraid I'd "do stuff" to them in their sleep, so one slept on the floor instead of in bed with me.

I hate sharing rooms with strangers. Sharing rooms with people I know, fine. But most people don't want to share with me. It takes me forever to fall asleep, I apparently hum/sing in my sleep sometimes (FI finds it cute), and I always wake up very very confused about everything.
Wow...those very homophobic people must think a lot of themselves if they assumed that *of course* you MUST be interested in doing things with them because they are just that damn irresistible. Yeah, no... Sorry you had to deal with that.

My DH snores. I would SO prefer the singing, lol.
I had a shitty interaction with someone when she found out I was into girls as well as guys. She was a friend of a friend, and was extremely offended to find out she'd just gone to a group lunch with OH MY GOD someone who was homotastic feelings!!!!!! She quietly said to one of my friends "I wonder if she's going to ask any of us out!" Like it was a big disgusting joke.

I have very good hearing, and a good memory for weird shit. A few months before I'd seen someone make this joke on tumblr, and I was so fucking excited that it popped into my head at this time.

"Sorry, I only like attractive girls."

People get tripped up on how great they are when they find something they think is wrong with someone else. It's good to take 'em down a peg.

I once had to share a room with another employee because we were on deadline for our magazine and there was a terrible snowstorm (terrible for Texas which was 8" of snow) they couldn't have us go home and chance not make it to work the next day. So they put us up in a crappy hotel, paid for us to go to dinner and buy pjs from Walmart, joy. Fortunately, we were already drinking buddies. So glad I don't work there anymore though.
  • I shared a hotel room with a stranger the last three nights for an academic conference.  I chose to put my name on the room share waitlist, since none of my female friends were going and I didn't feel comfortable sharing with my new married male friend.
