Alteration Prices

So I just dropped my dress off for alterations and the price was $480. I was a little stunned, but she already had the dress ready to go get cut up and I've heard good things about her..
I was just wondering if this is within the average or a little high (the dress is getting hemmed, bustled, and let out in the bust).

Seems high to me, but it really depends on where you live and how your dress is constructed. If she has to hem many layers of chiffon or do tricky work to preserve detailing, for example, that's going to increase your price.

Sounds about right. My alterations were about $520 and it was for a hem, bustle, taking in the hips and sewing in two cups.

Mine was about $300 for a hem, bustle, and bra cups.

It really depends on how much you have to have done. Mine were about $360.

Mine were 295 for taking down 2 sizes, hem, and bustle. I hear it is harder to take out than take in, so I wonder if that added to your price?

Mine was $250 for taking it in, hemming, and adding the bustle.

Thanks ladies! My dress does have a few layers of tulle it's from DB's Vera Wang White collection. So maybe those layers had an increase in price and I guess the area too (north jersey) which I never considered. I'm originally from PA so when I was in all if my friends' weddings I seen their alt prices and it was a few hundred less than mine.

Mine was $330 for a bustle and a hem so I don't think yours sounds too high since you were also having the bust taken out.
