How was everyone's weekend?

Friday night, FI and I went over to a friend's house for a bonfire. It was nice to sit and relax by a fire.

Saturday we went to my hometown to visit my family. We were there most of the day. FI met my grandparents for the first time and they really liked him. We didn't do anything the rest of the evening.

On Sunday, FI woke up and decided he wanted to do something outside since the weather was so nice, so he took us to the zoo :) We had a blast and got to see the new Orangutang exhibit which was amazing. I finally got some sun on my arms also, so hopefully I won't be so pasty white.  Kind of a low key weekend but we had a lot of fun.

Re: Monday!

  • @severmilli12 the zoo sounds like fun! The big, silly monkeys are my favorite.

This weekend was pretty okay. FI and I went out to dinner and then to Bruster's on Friday and then just hung out at his place, so that was nice.

On Saturday we had our engagement pictures, but it rained and the whole thing was a disaster. My perfect hair turned into a hot mess. I tried to just have fun and make the best of it, but I was really sad when I saw our sneak peak pictures. I'm contemplating paying for a do-over. On the bright side, I love our photographer!

Yesterday FI and I went to church and had lunch as usual, then drove the long way back to my apartment looking at all the pretty houses. That was really nice and relaxing. I can't wait until we can afford a house in the city.

  • Morning! My weekend was really great!

Friday I got a manicure at work then walked home and relaxed.

Saturday, I went for a 6 mile hike with some friends and then we had lunch and beers. H and I drove down the shore for a birthday dinner and then went to my aunt's to play CAH with my family. We got home reeeeeally late that night.

Yesterday, H and I had SIL's baby shower. It was ok. She looks beautiful and I'm really excited for them. They didn't open their gifts though, which I hate. I got asked 6 times when I'm going to have a kid and I wanted to scream. One of the people who asked told us that we're selfish for not wanting to have kids. I responded with "selfish and proud of it, I enjoy spending my hard-earned money on myself and having the ability to travel whenever I want."

After the shower, we came home and took Lucy to the dog park then grabbed a bite to eat. Our neighbors ended up coming over with their dog and we all sat in the backyard chatting and having some drinks.

    Is it Friday yet?

  • @blabla89 sorry your engagement photo session didn't go as planned :(

@Swazzle I hate the baby question. FI and I get asked that all the time and we aren't even married yet.  I heard it twice just this weekend -_-  I don't get why people think its any of their business, let alone why they feel they can judge you for it.

  • @severmilli12 your weekend sounded fun! I need to work on my fire pit so I can start using it again.

@blabla89 sorry about the e-pic shoot. Wait until you get the final prints before making your decision in having a re-do you might be surprised!

My weekend was good, kind of boring, but that's a good thing!

Friday I was off and was supposed to get the pool started but the one drain cover would not come off so I had to wait for FI to get home to fix that. He got home at 3pm and took the drain covers off then I worked on cleaning up the pool. Friday night we didn't do much.

Saturday, FI had to work some crazy OT hours (9-1, then 6:30-10:30) so I got laundry done, more pool stuff and lounged around watching Netflix. Quigley and I took a road trip to see FI and brought him Dunkin. When we got home, I watched more TV, ordered Chinese and went to bed. FI woke me up at 11pm when he got home, he ate dinner and the next thing I know it's Sunday.

Sunday we took Quigley to the dog park and then went to Michael's. When we got home, FI took a nap and I went outside and got some sun and knitted. I then made lunch for the week and then FI took me out for dinner.

FI starts his new shift today at work (11:30-8) so tonight I'll be able to do all the things I would normally do on the weekend (laundry, cleaning, etc). He can be distracting sometimes!

    Pretty fun weekend!

  • @Swazzle I hate that so much, I can't believe someone would be so incredibly rude to say that to you. But the hike sounds like fun! Where did you go hiking?

  • @swazzle please tell me you're kidding. They said you were selfish???? Fuck that.
Nope, not kidding unfortunately. The same guy brought it up AGAIN in front of MIL, urging her to urge me to give her grandkids (H was in the bathroom). MIL stuck up for me at least but seriously, I don't know what the fuck this guy's problem was.

  • My weekend was pretty relaxing. On Friday, I went home and snuggled with No-Uh.

Saturday, my dad came down and we all went to lunch at Bahama Breeze. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive, but had the most piercing voice (startled baby a few times) and had the strangest eyes. All I could think of was "WITH YOUR EYES!" haha After lunch we walked into the mall so grandpa could spend ridiculous amounts of money buying Bean new Legos.

Sunday we went to church early in the morning and ran into the old youth group Basketball coach. I love that man so much. I was super excited to introduce him to No-Uh. He was asking Bean if he had tried out for any sports and Bean told him he'd tried out for basketball but didn't make it. He was very encouraging and told him to keep trying. Then he said he was gonna try to work something out for him. I'm guessing, spend some time playing with him this summer, getting him tuned up so he can try again in the fall. He's such a wonderful man. Anyhow, after that, we went to the farmer's market where we ran into several old friends. Went home, took a nap, and then got up and grilled some steaks for dinner.

And to cap off the weekend, Bean and I watched Cosmos together <3

  • Morning ladies!

Our house looks like a tornado hit it and I didn't get as much cleaning done as I would have liked.  I'm still in the process of cleaning out every single drawer and cupboard in the kitchen and washing and sterilizing everything because of the one darn mouse.  UGH.

Saturday we finally met with our wedding planner, who works for our reception venue.  We planned our menu tasting and looked at our linen, chair, china etc. options.  Exciting!  Then I did some yardwork and sanded/painted our new coffee table.  Saturday night we went out with friends and had tons of food and drinks, that was fun.

Yesterday we met with a dj and LOVED him.  We've been really lucky so far that with the exception of cake bakery, for everything else we have wanted to book the first vendor we meet with.  I really had no clue about dj's or how to pick them, so this one is a relief to be done with!  Then we had lunch with FI's parents and talked about the wedding developments.  After that we did some more yard work- planted some wisteria and hibiscus.  I finished cutting and gluing all our invitation envelope liners.  Then went to bed with the house still in shambles.  Sometimes the work week is a break from the weekend, I swear :)

    Happy June!!

  • It was supposed to be a lazy weekend, but it ended up not being  that at all. Friday night I drove into Dallas to hang out with my cousin. We got our nails done, went to dinner, and just chatted for a while. Saturday I had a personal training session, then we went and saw Maleficent and had some drinks with a couple of friends. Sunday we helped my co-worker mount her TV in her new apartment and install cable covers for her wires, then we went to the grocery store, grabbed dinner at Freebirds (om nom nom!), and went to a friend's apartment to watch Game of Thrones. Never had time for cleaning or laundry, so I'll be doing that tonight after work. Joy.

@severmilli12 the zoo sounds like a lot of fun! A bonfire sounds pretty great too. It's been a while since we've had one of those. They're so nice in the summer. :)

@blabla89 I'm sorry it rained during your session! You never know, the pics may turn out fantastic. I'd definitely wait and see how they turn out before paying for a do-over.

@swazzle Um, wow. That's so rude that people would first ask and then judge you about having kids while at someone else's baby shower. People need to mind their own business!

    @peaseblossom55 ahhh 12 days! That's so exciting!

    @buddysmom80 whatcha knitting?

  • @severmilli12 it was really good! Not as dark as I thought it would be, but still very good. A bit predictable at times as well, but it was very charming and the acting was great. BF even enjoyed it.

  • @weewittlewizabeth I'm knitting small blankets in the shape of bunny rabbits. I found the pattern on Ravelry. I've been working on the same baby blanket for six months and it's getting nowhere because it's tedious, boring and taking FOREVER so I figure if I make something with big needles and bulky yarn I can whip a few out and give them to whoever wants them.

  • @TwoDimes that sounds like fun! I love going to the tour of homes event here. I volunteer at my neighborhood's tour of homes so that FI and I get free tickets to take the tour, it's a pretty sweet deal. FI and I have a real estate fetish and are constantly ogling houses we can't afford.

@weewittlewizabeth thanks for sharing your review of the movie! I want to go see it!

We actually got about 15 minutes of pictures before it rained, so I'll AW those when they come in. On the bright side, I did get a gel mani for the pictures and I'm loving how great it still looks today.

  • @goldenpenguin that's the best manicure I've ever seen ;)

@swazzle the other day I asked FI to put an AC unit in the one guest bedroom since the central air doesn't get up to the second floor too well and I figured whoever is sleeping the guest bedroom wouldn't have to die in the heat. He asked if I wanted the other one in Buddy's room (there's a futon in there). I was like "yeah, sure, I'm sure @swazzle will call that room". There is a gate of death though.

I'll post pics when I'm done, here's a link to the Ravelry page: clicky I'm not doing the embroidery stuff though because I suck at that, so my bunnies will be face-less.

@swazzle I need to make you some kind of business card you can whip out that says, "You are a supreme asshat," and when they get offended say, "I'm sorry, I thought we were exchanging unsolicited opinions."

@blabla89 I'm a little surprised that your photographer didn't offer to reschedule (ours does). Either way, there's a lot of editing that goes into photos before you receive them. Obviously, editing can't make your hair dry, but the photos might end up just fine.

My weekend was full of ups and downs.

Saturday, I got my nails done with my mani pedi partner, who was visiting for the weekend (up!). I don't like the colors I got, my technician wasn't very good (surprising for this salon), and I ended up with way too short nails and a couple of cuts (down!). My mom let me drive to my cousin's shower, and we were early so I got some wedding favor supplies at Michaels (up!). The shower was at a brewery, and they had like ... the ONLY beer I've ever enjoyed (up!). I spent a great deal of time having my mom, aunts, and grandmother harass me for not wanting a shower (down!). Then I went home and J and I made almost all the centerpieces (up!).

I slept in way late by accident on Sunday (down!), and J forgot to do laundry (down!). But we used our slow cooker for the first time (up!) and I baked cookies (up!).

    And now it's MONDAY. Boo.
