Non-traditional MOB dress?

Hello --

MOB here. And I am looking for something non-traditional -- possibly a knee length or midi print? -  to wear for the big day.  I've been to a lot of bridal store and manufacturers sites, and just can't seem to find a dress that suits me. (The wedding is semi-formal, and the bride has already told me to use my discretion and wear what I want. Love her!!!)

I realize I can go to some department store sites, etc., but I am just not finding "the one." If anyone has any websites, designers or stores to recommend, please let me know and share them.

My future MIL had a lot of specifics that she is wanting for her dress...knee length, nothing tight, sleeves...but still doesn't want to look matronly. So, we had looked a LOT of places. I'm not sure where she found the one she ended up getting, but we did find a lot that we liked online at Kohls, Nordstrom, etc. They do have a lot of options. In terms of prints, though, I don't think we ran across anything that was wedding appropriate with a print. Not to say that it wouldn't look nice! I just don't think that we saw any.

I got my BM's dresses from Modcloth. Shabby Apple is another good place to look.

Edit: Sorry, I totally read MOB as MOH, so my post probably isn't very helpful. BHDLN has some pretty MOB dresses.

I looked and looked and looked some more. I ordered in tons of dresses from dept stores (returnable). I finally found something on my third trip to Lord and Taylor. How much longer do you have?

My mom is wearing a knee length green lace dress that she bought at Marshall's. She wore it to my brother's wedding last year too.

My mom bought a purple lacy dress from Nordstrom a few days after I got engaged. She saw it in one of their email ads, fell in love and bought it 3 sizes with the hopes it would work.

I'm glad she knows that I just want her happy with whatever she wears as long as she's happy!

i've heard of some MOBs heading to David's Bridal and checking out the bridesmaid dresses.... i don't personally have experience with this but maybe there's a good variety or maybe some inspiration.

My mom has had previous success with Dressbarn. 

I saw this dress and thought it would be perfect for my mom, but I doubt she'd even try it on (as I don't think she needs to wear something all that formal either - it might not be formal enough for your daughter's wedding and I'm not sure what size you are).

I have a tendency to wear structured, tailored, and less embellished items.  I found dresses that worked well sticking with Tadashi Shoji, Calvin Klein, and Lauren.

I wore this to my daughter's church ceremony, but had them replace the nude lining with a navy on navy look.  I thought the navy lining drew less attention.

You don't say how "youthful" you are, or the type of style you prefer, but Anthropologie has some print dresses I think you might be able to wear....

My 60 year old mother wore a strapless turquoise hi-lo dress with four inch blinged-out hooker heels to my sister's beach wedding last year.  She looked stunning!

Rosebubbly - I am thinking more "boho elegant" as well. None of the stores mentioned above have what I am looking for ... same old, same old.

Are you searching specifically for "mother of the bride" dresses? That sounds like your problem... by definition, a "non-traditional MOB dress" won't be found in a MOB category at all. It's just a dress. Where do you normally shop?

Have you checked out Rent the Runway? Don't know how you feel about your arms but something like this might be fab. Definitely not "boho" though...

I wish I could rent the runwAy for my mom, but she is plus size so I don't think there'd be any options for her. She's also 54 years old.

Yeah I just meant if you were searching within the "Mother of the Bride" tab on a department store website - I know that's not what you're looking for, KWIM? Good luck!
