Awesome wedding this weekend!

I went to an awesome wedding this weekend and I would like to talk about it. So I'm gonna.

To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to this wedding. Oh, I like the couple fine and dandy but they decide to have a breakfast wedding. Ceremony starting at 9am. On a Saturday. Who the fuck does that? That's just mean. I had to get up at 7:30! I am not a morning person. But they're FI's friends and she's put up with stupid shit for mine so fine, I'll go and be nice.

The wedding was fantastic. First there was food as soon as we walked in. And coffee. They had a little coffee cart set up where I could get a fancy pants coffee thing!!! FI tells me they had juice, milk, tea, hot cocoa, and soda for non-coffee drinkers as well, I'm just going to have to believe here. They had all the tables set up and we all took our seats (assigned tables), there were trays of mini-pastries in the middle of the table. For us to eat. In fact we were encouraged to snack during the ceremony! So I had fancy coffee and food, I no longer hated them for having a morning wedding.

The ceremony was very nice, very simple, and as soon as they finished there was alcohol brought out! Mimosa bar was set up, Irish coffees were made, sangeria, and then a champagne punch. And more food! It was about a 30 minute cocktail hour while they did a few pictures, then they came back and breakfast was served. French toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff. There was even music and dancing. They served donuts and fruit for desert instead of a traditional cake. It was actually cute they broke apart a donuts and fed it to each other instead of the cake cutting.

So much fun, low key and simple, but a really great time, and everything was wrapped up by about 11:30, which was actually kind of nice. Weddings are great and all but it was nice to have one that didn't seem to eat up my whole day. And it was a cool wedding, different and fun.

See people who say they must have gaps because *gasp* one mustn't have an early reception, it is perfectly possible to have fun properly hosted earlier reception.

That sounds like an AMAZING wedding. Sometimes I wish we were doing a brunch wedding (it's too late to change our minds).

  • @cupcait927 and @phira, I kind of felt the same way! Like damn...we should have a brunch/breakfast wedding now! Then I remember I really don't function in the mornings and being guest is easier then being a host.

Yeah, that's a good point. It's already going to be hard enough to wake up for hair and make-up for our afternoon wedding.

Right! We're having an evening wedding just because I want to sleep in on my wedding day. I've already told FI, I'm not getting up before 11am. That's my "I'm the bride it's my day!" card. I'm playing it to sleep in.
  • That sounds amazing. Can I go back and have a re-do?

  • My Baptist cousin didn't want music or alcohol at her wedding, so we were all groaning and not at all looking forward to it. They had a morning wedding with brunch at a gorgeous restaurant in New Orleans and it turned out awesome.

That sounds awesome! I refrenced this thread to someone in Budget/DIY that was worried people would be disappointed with their midday wedding.

  • That wedding sounds like the best wedding. If I wasn't already married I would do this.

  • I love breakfast at any time of day, so if I went to an evenings wedding like this I would be just as giddy over donuts.

And ditto all PPs... I would love to do this, if I didn't want to sleep in on my wedding day.

Breakfast for dinner is like...the best thing ever. I'm not sure why, same dang food, but for dinner it's just that much better.
  • That sounds fabulous!

Plus, mimosas and donuts sound pretty amazing!

  • There's a reason that good brunch places are jam-packed (pun intended, hee hee) on weekends, and it's because brunch is amazing. Kudos to the happy couple!

That sounds so amazing. We would love to do something like that but I bet our VIP would really nitpick. All that yummy food.

I love breakfast! This sounds like the best wedding ever! I tried to convince one of my friend to have a bunch wedding but she'd rather have a wedding at 5:15 on 5/15/15...with no breakfast :(

I would totally have a breakfast wedding if SO wasn't such a horrible grumpy monster in the morning.

  • That sounds freaking AMAZING.

  • I love that idea! Sounds lovely
