We hit a kink

Re: We hit a kink

  • @severmilli12 - Ugh, I hate when religious leaders say things like that. The priest at the church we belonged to when I had DD #1 said something like that in regards to baptizing her when her father and I weren't married yet.

I think all of the others have given great advice in regards to alternate solutions. XH and I lost our officiant/venue 4 weeks before the wedding, and received a great recommendation from a friend for a Christian pastor who married us (without judgement) for a donation to their church. Hang in there, you'll find someone awesome to marry you.

On another note about the Groomsman, if he's the worship leader of your church, how does him drinking whether he's a groomsman or the officiant matter? I guess I just don't see the difference. If he's worried about what the members of the church will think, then he shouldn't be drinking as a groomsman either? JMO

  • @ollie08 I don't see much of a difference either. But to him, if he marries us he is representing the church and is kind of the church's "clock" so to speak. It would like he is working and has to represent himself in a different way than if he was just a groomsman at someones wedding, which I guess I understand. Our church is super laid back and we all hang out with each other at bars on the weekend but he thinks he needs to look more professional I suppose.
