Tuesday Chatter

Good morning and happy Tuesday! I'm so glad it's a short week although these short weeks always make me wish we had EVERY Friday off, especially in the summer.

Will anyone else be watching USA vs Belgium later today? I was supposed to leave work early and meet @hummingbird125 but my coworker's dog that she grew up with has to be put to sleep tonight and she asked if I could stay and cover for her so she could be there with her mom. I'm so sad for her (and I obviously said of course I would stay). I'll watch the game at work until a little after 5 and then rush home to catch the rest. I really hope we pull it off!

Re: Tuesday Chatter

  • Good morning! Sorry you won't be able to meet up with Hummingbird to watch the game :(  I want to watch the game but we don't have cable and FI doesn't get off work until 5:30 :\  We usually try to catch the game at our favorite bar but we won't have a chance to tonight. I am only working 7-12:45 today because I have a second interview for a position I applied for a couple weeks ago.  The lady who interviewed me wants me to come in today to meet the other employees and take a tour of the facility. I'll probably spend my evening cleaning since my dad is coming over Thursday and we have friends coming over Friday for a cookout.

We are also still scrambling to find an officiant, and I'm having a slight melt down since we don't have one lined up yet.  A family friend of FI offered to get ordained and marry us, so we may take him up on that offer.

  • @severmilli12 - Good luck today! Have you checked on your local board or WeddingWire for reviews and gone that route?

  • @Swazzle I checked my local board but didn't have much luck.  We've had a lot of leads and have called and asked a lot of people, but no one has that day available.  We have 2 more people in mind that we are going to call tonight and if those two don't work out, I guess we're going to have FI's family friend do it.  The only thing that makes me nervous with that is that he will be about 2 hours away in OH playing bagpipes for an event and won't make it back to Indy until 5:30. Our wedding is at 6:30 so I'm worried that if he is running late or gets stuck in traffic that he'll be cutting it close.

  • @severmilli12 - That would make me very nervous and would definitely be an added unnecessary stress that day. I hope you're able to find someone else that's available!

  • @Swazzle thanks! We're gonna call around a little more until we 100% decide on using the family friend.  I just hope we figure something out soon so I can stop stressing about it.

  • @Swazzle - sorry for your coworkers loss and you won't be able to meet up with @Hummingbird125.  I probably won't watch the game, I'll keep tabs on what's happening through my phone.

@Severmilli12 - I hope you find an officiant soon!!  Have you checked with your JOP/City Hall to see if they know of any way you could have an officiant at your site to marry you?

I am VERY tired today.  Last night I fell asleep on the couch and FI had a hard time waking me up. Today I feel like I could use at least another 2 hours of sleep.  I was late to work this morning because I got caught up on reading stuff on the internet and then Nessie threw up on my bed because she got into the cat food and it's too rich for her.  So Now I have to wash all my bedding when I get home (I guess it needed to be done anyway, just wish I could have done it on my terms).

  • @swazzle sorry to hear about your CW's dog :(

@severmilli12 I don't know if you guys wanted to go the JoP route but when we were doing our research to get our marriage license for the state, the town that we're getting married in provided a list of JoPs. We're getting married in a smaller town and there were about 20 on their list that just lived in the town, so that could be something you could research too through town hall.

Today I'm hoping goes by fast. The vet called last night with Buddy's bloodwork and he's all over the place, but she thinks that it's something with his pancreas. She referred us to a vet in the middle of the state for an abdominal ultrasound so FI is taking the day off of work to do that. Once she gets the report from the radiologist she'll give us a call. FI and I did a lot of talking last night and decided that if it's something that's going to be invasive that we should just leave it alone until he stops eating and then put him down. If it's something that can be treated with meds, then we'll do it. I'm hoping it's the latter right now. It's weird because even though she keeps telling us he's sick, he's still acting the same. He's on a NPO right now and has been hounding FI and I for food!

This afternoon we have a mandatory meeting and everyone's guess is that it's either lay-offs or our department is getting moved to a different department in the hospital. Both things will be good news because I don't really like working here anymore so if I'm laid off, it'll be okay. If we switch our departments, that means a bigger bonus for us in December.

  • @severnilli12 have you called the courthouse? Lol that's where we found our officiant. She was also a zillion times cheaper because she was court appointed.

If all else fails, don't we have some knotties near you that can do this?! I am not nearly close enough to Indy (go colts!!) but maybe Andrew Luck is available.

Today I have a follow up appt with the surgeon. Given I had a follow up with my PCP yesterday and he said I'm good I probably won't learn much except maybe when my stitches can come out. So we will see.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @Blue @Buddysmom80 We've thought about going to the court house or clerk's office and asking about officiants.  If the people we are calling this week can't do it, we may go talk to someone when we get our marriage license in a couple weeks.

  • @Blue & White - I really hope that you get to feeling normal soon!  sending healthy thoughts your way.

@buddysmom80 - I'm glad you updated us on Buddy.  hopefully it's something that can be easily fixed and he's around to terrorize you for many years to come.

H went in to work at 5:30 this morning so he could leave early to watch the soccer game.  it comes on at 3 PM here, so if they pull it up in the conference room at work, I'll go watch it there.
  • @Dignity100 - I am super sleepy today too!

@buddysmom80 - Thinking of you today. I hope Buddy is ok <3

@blue - How are you feeling?

  • Good morning! I'm on the struggle bus today. FMIL threw a temper tantrum over nothing last night, and I stayed up late trying to talk FI down. So I'm tired and a little bit crankypants.

Other than that, it looks to be a good day. Our office has the World Cup on in the break room and I think there will be food this afternoon. On Tuesday nights I with the kids at a local women and children's shelter, which is always so much fun.

  • @swazzle - I will for sure be parked in front of the television for the US vs BEL game. Both DH and I took the afternoon's off to make sure we could watch it. I am going to pick Fritz up from the vet at noon. I'm so nervous that we won't be able to keep him calm, or that we'll have to keep him and Freddie completely separate (which would make ALL our lives miserable). I am going to have a long talk with the vet this afternoon.

I'm exhausted. We've been so stressed about the dogs. Freddie is having separation anxiety, Fritz is going to require such specific care. We're trying not to burden local friends with their care, so we're trying to meet a whole bunch of potential dog walkers/sitters. Plus I start marathon training on Monday and I'm wondering why the hell I'm doing it. We just have so much going on.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • @cu97tiger - What is Freddie doing with his separation anxiety?  I know Loki suffers from it - drools all over himself EVERY time I leave and I come home to a stinky mess of a dog.  Things I've done with Loki range from medicating to giving him his own iPod that was playing 'Through a Dog's Ear' to try to relax him.  Not sure what is up with Fritz to try and make comments towards that.  If you have a holistic vet in your area, I would highly recommend trying to go that route (at least for Freddie).

  • Good morning!

@blue & white hope that your recovery and follow-up go well!

@buddysmom80 poor buddy! I hope it's something that isn't invasive. Sending you lots of good cat vibes.

@severmilli12 Definitely check out the list of JOP at the courts. They are definitely less expensive than a "celebrant", and they are very timely and reliable! I'm currently looking at a couple JOP, but I met with an officiant/celebrant that I really liked- but he's spendy.

Today will inevitably be boring for me. My car is still at the shop, turns out the throttle on my car went bad and that's why it wouldn't stop when I was on the highway. It was absolutely terrifying, but I'm glad I managed pull over and stop the car with all of my force. I plan to spend the day cleaning, being on the knot, watching TV (maybe the world cup?) and maybe making a fancy dinner.
  • @Swazzle -I'm so sorry to hear about your CW's dog. That's so sad : (

@cu97tiger -Lots of vibes for you and your doggies. I can't imagine the stress going along with that. I hope a solution arises soon for y'all.

I won't get to watch the game today since I'll be at work and going to CrossFit right afterwards. Last night we had a double header and we won one game and lost the other. They were both really close games so I wasn't upset but I got really pissed when I was running to third and I got on the base but then was pushed off by the baseman and called Out because of it. SUPER PISSED! I get so competitive lol.

Maddux is becoming very energetic and active. Last night he wanted to visit and play with everyone. It makes me nervous when he is around little kids because he play bites and I don't want him biting a toddler or anything lol. We need to work on his people etiquette.
  • I'm heeeere! I came in to work at 8 this morning so I can leave early to watch the game with BF. That's a real bummer about your CWs dog @Swazzle. How sad! And of course sad for @Hummingbird125 too.

I hope you get the officiant thing ironed out soon @severmilli12. That is extremely stressful. And I'd be worried about the friend being late too. There are so many things that could get in the way in that short hour buffer. And I'd hate for you to have that stress on your wedding day.

Oh, also! BF went to the jeweler again yesterday… I wasn't supposed to find out, but I'm a dope and well, I did. Soooo :-D

  • @Severmille12 - Keeping my fingers crossed on your officient search! Believe me, I've been there. Our officient had to back out the day before the wedding. Luckily we were able to find someone in town who was available the next day to perform our ceremony. If it could work out for us, then I know you two will find someone! We just called churches in the area (methodist churches for us) and that ended up working. They were very sympathetic to our situation and some of them even started making calls on our behalf.

    @BlaBla89 - I love your siggy pic!

Just another normal day here. H and I have been staying up WAY too late at night and it's really starting to bite me in the butt. Work is super busy right now, so I think I may just go to bed at like 8 tonight to try and catch up on sleep. Otherwise probably a walk with the hubs and pup after work.

  • Oh I forgot to add that we met our new neighbors last night! It's a husband, wife and two older-ish (like 8-11 years old) boys. They seemed okay, they're like "we hope it's a quiet neighborhood".

We're the loud people in our neighborhood. Whoops.

Something tells me with 8-11 yo boys, you'll be just fine @buddysmom80!

@cu97tiger - I'm SO glad that Fritz is coming home. Has Fritz been treated with Freddie before? Like does Freddie have experience with Fritz coming home after his treatment?

  • @buddysmom80, my mom's cat had pancreatitis about 5 years ago. After an overnight vet stay, he made a full recovery and has been terrorizing us for years. I'll be sending vibes for the same for Buddy with his pancreas issues!!

Two meetings back-to-back to explore my inadequacy this morning. Then cake tasting late this afternoon! And we're bringing my shoes to visit my dress for color match. And maybe dropping off all the returns I've stacked up at the UPS store ...

Laundry tomorrow! We finally figured out where all my jeans are - they're in my work laundry, so starting tomorrow night I get to have clean pants. There's nothing so satisfying.
  • @ollie08 I never thought about that! That makes me feel better. FWIW we're loud on the weekends, we usually have someone over and we're outside in the pool or fire pit or whatever but no one complains this time of year since everyone has their air conditioners on anyway!

  • @twodimes- I love Paint & Vino (that's what we call it here)!!! I've never heard of or seen a class for couples though. I've always thought about going with FI, but then I remembered that we would just come home with the same painting. I guess we could give one as a gift? Anyways, so cool that you are able to do something so awesome for your FI's birthday! I think it's great.
  • @TwoDimes - I love that! We did one for Valentine's Day. They have different names for it, but the one we went to was coffee and canvas (because, discount!) Anyway, it was so much fun, we're actually going to go again when they are painting something we could hang in the house.

I have quite a few meetings today so I hope the day goes by fast.  I'm exhausted.  I got my hair cut last night, really short I think it's the shortest it's ever been. It feels so nice not to have long hair right now.  Otherwise I'm a pretty boring person.  I haven't really been paying to much attention to the whole world cup thing.  I'll check out the score when I get home from work today.

  • @KeptInStitches OMNOMNOM cake tasting! Do you have any particular flavors in mind?

  • I think I ended up with food poisoning this morning. I've been in and out of the bathroom at work for the last two hours. If I'm still bad in like 20 minutes, I'm going home.

Needless to say, Blackbird isn't a happy bird today.

  • @blabla89, nope. We know we're going with 2, perhaps 3, flavors. One of them has to be not chocolate (my mom is allergic). We're getting an 8" centerpiece cake so we have something to cut. After that, it comes down to what tastes good and what the baker recommends for easy travel.
