The Bitch is back.

I was in Salt Lake City last night having a biopsy and emergency surgery on my droopy left eye.  My breast cancer has metastasized and formed a tumor in my eye socket, which was wrapped around the muscles of my eyelid.  It has not gone into my brain.  We just got home two hours ago.  My cat was furious!  Tommorow, I call and schedule chemo and radiation treatment.  Good thing I kept those wigs!

I wrote my oncologist a letter when she retired this month.  I thanked her for the last six years, which I wouldn't have had without treatment.  I saw my daughter's wedding.  I held my first grandson.  I handled my mother's death and funeral arrangements.  I traveled to Scandinavia, Russia. Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Hawaii (twice).  It has been a good six years.
Ladies, this is stage 4 metastatic cancer.  It is not curable.  It is just a question of how long it can be managed.  I know people who have lived years with stage 4 cancer.  There are also people who went more quickly.  I just want to spend the time I have left in a positive way.  I was sitting in the office of the surgeon talking to his engaged secretary about her wedding.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts.
