@Dignity100, I don't think someone who calls back in a month is too serious about their date!  Glad you still won your lottery! Man, that kind of thing would drive me crazy, if someone could wander in and steal it after you were first.

But if you're writing 12 paragraphs explaining why you're situation is just SOOOO different from everyone else's and that's why you just HADDDD to plan your wedding before being "officially engaged" you need to get the fuck over yourself. Think we'd suddenly all understand if you just wrote paragraphs upon paragraphs explaining why the rules don't apply to you?  Nope nope nope.

Just in case, because I've gotten kind of confused about who is talking about who, I'm definitely not trying to say "venues are booked up fast so plan your wedding before you're engaged".   I think this secret/kind-of-engaged stuff is ridiculous and makes no sense.

I just don't get the whole "we need to be engaged by X month 2014 b/c I want to get married Y month 2015" its so self centered. Get engaged when you and your so are ready, then start planning. If you have to have a June wedding then that might mean waiting an extra year. But the date and location of you wedding need to be a joint decision, not just what you drempt about when you were 5.

I'm not the one AW-ing every detail of my life, but for some reason, this board wants to bring it up constantly.

I'm just as engaged as anyone else, get over it!

And I did not plan anything beforehand, because I hate planning.  And I'm obviously not good at it, which is why I need the boards.

I'm not even on this board much anymore, even though it doesn't seem to actually be for those "Not Engaged Yet," and then suddenly I get home from a horrendous day going to the city and I have numerous notifications that I've been tagged!

I don't get where the hostility comes from.  And that's a rhethorical question, because I have no desire to explain myself further because then that's a problem too.
