  • I'm a sleepy but happy Monday! Friday V and I went tubing for a bit and relaxed after work.

Saturday we met up with my mom and had yummy mexican food. Afterwards we went to sears and the mall for a bit. I got a new dress and jewelry! We saw Begin again and I loved it. V not so much but we both made fun of it for a bit.

Sunday were lazy because I wasn't feeling good. So we just hung out and I workout for a bit. I love jilian Michaels.

Work right now is slow but ok

@hummingbird125, sending you hugs. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

@severmilli12, awesome shower gift! Glad you had fun.

@buddysmom80, kittens! And what menu did you pick?

@swazzle, I did the HP marathon when I could - mostly I set up Rifftrax on my laptop for the movies so we could listen as we packed, cleaned, sorted, threw, donated ...

    ETA: @twodimes, happy birthday!!

Ugh. Moving is so overrated y'all. Hate moving.

Friday night we kept working on moving.

Saturday morning FI and a friend went over to the apartment with a pickup and got out the huge bulky garbage because the landfill has limited hours and it had to go then. Then FI and I went over and worked on moving for a little bit. We took a break for the whole afternoon (didn't think it would take that long ...) and went and registered, mostly because FI's grandmother has mentioned throwing me a bridal shower at least 4 times now and I should maybe get on that. Then we went back and kept cleaning sorting packing.

Yesterday FI and I went back to his apartment and ... you'll never guess ... kept cleaning sorting packing throwing. Ugh. I worked on the wedding website for most of the afternoon, though, so that was a nice break for me. I can't sort his stuff for him, after all.

And tonight we'll ... clean sort pack. Ugh!! But the stuff should be out by the end of this week and then we can spend the next 1.5 weeks doing the deepest clean that apartment has had in years so that maybe we're not totally fucked on the security deposit. Thoughts for not totally fucked on the security deposit?

@buddysmom80, sounds awesome! Can I have an invite? And the kittens are adorable.
  • @buddysmom80 the kittens are so cute!!  The menu sounds great.  We listed our vegetarian/vegan option on the menu and when I was talking with some friends last weekend, we had meat eaters order it.   You never know who will order it.

    Anniversary

  • @peaseblossom55 good idea, she said we could add it to the menu, I'll have to ask her later today when I pay 50% (gulp). I'm a meat-eater and sometimes I'll order the vegetarian or seafood option off the menu too on occasion.

  • Happy Birthday, @TwoDimes!

@Hummingbird125, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation with your dad.  All the hugs.

    I'm having a Merry Monday.

My weekend was great.  No drama, lots of relaxation, and a HP Marathon on ABC Family!  DH and I went out for BBQ on Friday night.  We'd heard good things about this place, and it was truly  NOMNOMNOM.  Saturday we had brunch with a friend who was in town, and that was fun.  Then DH and I went to the local farmer's market for some produce.

As we were at the farmer's market, which was a 10 minute walk from our apartment, we got caught in POURING rain, with only a tiny pink ruffled umbrella at our disposal.  So once we bought everything we wanted, we huddled under the tiny umbrella and headed home, getting soaked and laughing hysterically in the process.  The passersby all laughed at the sight of a big dude like my husband huddled under a pink, frilly umbrella.  It was funny.

Later Saturday, we watched the ABC Family HP Marathon, we ran to Whole Foods, and I made a tasty dinner.

Sunday was more HP Marathon, a little bit of house cleaning, cooking, and baking.  It was very peaceful.

My only complaint about my entire weekend was that I had a hard time falling asleep last night, and I had horrible nightmares again.  (Thanks Metformin!)

@TwoDimes Happy happy happy birthday!!! I hope you have a GREAT day!

@buddysmom80 I am so hungry now! Your menu looks delicious!

  • Working upstate today - definitely moody!  I have many hours of Thruway driving to work on my venue pro/con list, but I wish I had remembered to bring an audiobook.

Will probably drive home into bad storms this evening, and I don't know yet if I have power back at home... I will be out a TON of $food$ if it didn't come back yet.

  • @buddysmom80 - Kitties are so cute! I hope they are giving you lots of smiles, I wish mine was still a baby. And your food sounds fantastic, I would eat all of that!

@loves2shop4shoes - I'm sorry to hear about your nightmares again :( I've been having really absurd dreams lately, and I have no idea why. Not terrifying nightmares, but I've been waking up thinking "what the fuck was that all about?"

@Kelani23 - Drive safe, I hope your power comes back. If it hasn't been out for too long could you buy a few bags of ice and throw some of your food in a cooler to try and keep it from spoiling? I know how expensive and frustrating that can be!

  • Definitely a merry Monday over here!

I'm about halfway through my last month before I start orientation to my grad program, so I slept in today and am currently laying on the couch watching tv and waiting for my nails to dry. Lazy days are pretty fabulous and I probably won't have too many of them for the next few years. The only things I have planned for today are gym time this afternoon and a trip to the post office to pay my last bill from my previous apartment.
  • Thanks, but if it's not on by the time SO gets home from work, it's been at least 24 hrs already... I reminded him not to open the fridge, but who knows.

If only I could get the dogs to go buy ice!

@Dignity100 and @CLoGreenEyes - thanks for the interview vibes!  It went better than expected and my brain is now mush.  I can't even comprehend most of what I'm reading in this thread so I'll be back in a bit!

@Hummingbird125 That is all kinds of emotional whiplash! I am so sorry about your dad. I think that you and FI made the right decisions.

    @TwoDimes HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

@KeptInStitches My best friend's cats did some damage to her last two apartments, so if you have specific questions about ways to fix up cat damage, let me know. I know in MA that wear and tear can't be deducted from a security deposit, so ... basically, I'm glad that you have a house now and don't have to deal with this once everything's moved out.

I'm gonna go with meh Monday for now. I had a nice weekend, though.

Friday, I got home from the gym and ... vegged because I was tired. When J got home, I set him to work on the living room and started baking cookies. My friend came over, and the fun began. The strawberry margarita jello shots came out amazingly, and the Baileys popsicles were good too (although I wish I could figure out how to make them next time so that they're not as crystalized). We watched Hell's Kitchen, the last Harry Potter movie (we spent the past year doing our own watch-through of all 8 movies), and then The Heat.

Guys, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. The Heat was amazing.

We didn't get nearly as drunk as I'd hoped, but it was because we paced ourselves too well. I was still spectacularly hungover the following day. I spent the day doing pretty much nothing except drink water and watch TV (OITNB and Castle).

Yesterday, I relaxed in the morning, and then I drove down to help the same friend load up a UHaul. She's honestly really easy to move; she packs expertly and has very little furniture, so it took about 2 hours for 4 of us to get everything into the truck. Then I spent the rest of the night texting with my sister about our brother. GOSSIP.

Today is meh because I didn't get a lot of sleep and accidentally slept in, so I set back an experiment a bit. I'm also feeling stressed and panicked about all these errands I need to run this week and next week, when I'm busy almost every night. Ugh!

  • @twodimes - HAPPY BIRTHDAYY!!! :)

    I'm moody.

I was up too late finishing the HP marathon last night, and then my commute was all thrown off because of closed roads due to a bad accident. I would have been at work at 9 am, but didn't end up getting here until 930 because of the detours, one-ways, and traffic lights that I had to drive through to get here. ANNOYING.

I have to be here super late tonight because of an orientation event that goes from 9-1030. I volunteered, so I can only be annoyed with myself, so I am.

This weekend was fairly uneventful. Saturday we took Vi to the dog park, and she had SO much fun. Then we hung out at home and watched HP. Yesterday I did NOTHING except watch HP and the World Cup final. And I was totally okay with it (except for the whole staying up too late & making me tired thing).

Today I'm going to attempt to get some work done, but I'm not making any promises. I'm emailing with caterers to get some pricing & set up meetings for when we're in CT in a couple weeks.

  • @TwoDimes Happy Birthday!!!!!!!

@Hummingbird125 I am sending you lots of internet hugs!

I am fairly moody today, as it is rainy here in San Diego today, and I thought I was getting away from that weather in NY when we flew back yesterday. I just want to sleep all day today.

Visiting our family and friends was nice, but the wedding on Saturday was an etiquette shit show. I mean, I am very happy for my friends, but they didn't seem to have much consideration for their guests. We arrived at the venue listed on the invitation at 2:40 pm when the ceremony was starting at 3. We walk into the lobby of the hotel, and see a sign with the events of the wedding, and a hotel employee standing next to it. We ask her where the ceremony is. She responds with "Oh, it isn't here at the hotel. It's about a mile and a half down the road in the park.". She didn't give us clear instructions, and my mother is driving us around looking for where this is taking place. It is now 2:55, and I call my friend who I believe is already there. She spots my mother's car and gives us directions from there (the chairs were not visible from the road). BF and I walk as fast as we can and our butts hit the seats right as the music started playing for the bridesmaids (processional?). Many other guests showed up late too, because the instructions were not clear. Then, once the ceremony ended at 4 pm, everyone just kind of waited around nearby for 15 minutes, as no one knew where to go from there. Finally someone mentions that the cocktail hour is back at the hotel (which I am not happy that I have to walk that far in 4 inch heels, 85 degrees, and 90% humidity.....), and we head over there. We get there, and the same employee tells us that it doesn't start until 5 pm. All of my friends and I just hung out in the hotel lobby, but we were very annoyed by the gap. It was so hot out and we were so thirsty after sitting through an hour ceremony and walking a mile and a half that BF and I found the hotel's bar and bought water during this time. The hotel wasn't set up and ready for the cocktail hour until 5:30, and it was a narrow room with barely enough standing room for the 100 guests there. After the reception room was set up and opened, the rest of it went off smoothly (open bar all night, delicious and hot food, etc.). BF and I talked about a lot of this after, and he basically told me that he was making mental notes as to what not to do when we get married. I love him.

Sunday we just saw our grandparents and then packed and flew back to San Diego. Today looks like a busy day at work for me, but nothing really interesting.

  • @GoldenPenguin - I should really get some work done today but I am just not feeling the motivation. I want to look at florists and set up appointments, so I have a feeling my productivity will be very low today...

  • Oh hai!!! I've been MIA for ages bc my iPad hates TK. So iPhone it is.

Yuck to Monday. I'm up to my eyeballs with incompetent customers. They hire idiots and then wonder why their business is failing and then expect me to have a magic wand to fix their mistakes. Ugh. Anyone with actual marketing/sales experience want to move to Chicago so I can work with someone competent? Also, I promise to feed anyone wine and potatoes if they write my quarterly business plan for me!!!

Hey newbs, I don't know any of you. I've been a bad knottie. Catch me up pleaz!
