Dress Indecision

I bought my dress back in March (way too early since my wedding isn't until Sept. 2015 - I know). However, I got overly excited to go shopping and ended up loving a dress & buying it on the spot. Since then I occasionally wonder if I was too impulsive and should have tried on more styles before making a decision. In particular, I really wanted to try on a blush dress & a dress with a high lace illusion neckline. Now, I'm over the blush thing because I actually love the color of my dress (it's champagne-ish) & think it works well with my skin tone. However, I keep thinking about if I should have tried on a dress with a high lace neckline (mine is sweetheart so essentially the opposite of what I bought). So I guess my question is - should I try one on in this style? I know people say once you buy a dress, stop shopping & I have done that. (I also need to stop watching wedding dress shows - that might help). My only reasoning behind this question being that I could potentially try it on, realize I love mine more, get over it, and get the idea out of my mind. However, there's always a chance I could love a different dress and then I would be really screwed because I already spent way too much money on one already.

Apparently, I'm crazily indecisive so maybe I just need people to tell me to ignore my indecisive thoughts for the next 14 months. Advice?

Re: Dress Indecision

  • I think unless you're willing to drop the money for another dress, you should try to get over it. You could end up loving it and regretting your first purchase.

  • I agree with PP. You fell in love with your dress for a reason. Trust that you made the right decision and stop looking. I don't know what your dress looks like, but what about a high neck lace bolero? Of course, you may end up buying it and realizing it was all a waste of money.

  • Would you consider a lace illusion overlay? Almost like a bolero its a neckline (if that makes any sense). You can find one on Etsy and could wear it to the ceremony and remove it for the reception.

  • I agree with hellokellybean, the lace illusion overlays can be a beautiful and unique touch! and you can always remove it for the reception!
  • Thanks for the feedback ladies! I had never considered adding an overlay. I don't know if it would work with my dress, but it's worth looking into. Also, I know for a fact FI prefers strapless dresses in general, so I'm sure he will love the dress I already bought & it really is my style. @msuprincess04 - you're right, I need to trust my decision. I think I have a tendency to overthink things and second-guess, making things harder than necessary. I need to break that habit asap!
