Another undergarments discussion ;)

So my dress is supposed to arrive either today, Monday, or Tuesday according to my salon....and here is my dress from when we bought it back in January!!

So anyway...what does TK suggest/recommend for undergarments? The dress has a zippered back with cloth and bead covered buttons. I have a nearly perfect hourglass shape...I think my bust and hip measurements are an inch different. My cup size is a DDD and is my main problem area. I'm most worried about 1. support 2. falling out of my dress/yanking my dress up all night and 3. looking as thin and awesome as possible on my wedding day.

I'm working on an exercise/upper back and arm toning regime but obviously I'm not going to reach my goal weight loss of 60 lbs by October. I've looked at this (link) on the Spanx website and it seems to have pretty good reviews. I feel nervous about long line bras just because my boobs are so big and I'm so self conscious about them and also because I feel like I've never found something that fit quite right. I'm not sure if my alterations specialist is going to have cups big enough to sew in to my dress or if there will be enough support that way or not.

Re: Another undergarments discussion ;)

  • I was in the same boat as you.  I went to different stores and tried on different bras and ended up with a corset bra.  In street size I typically run a 40G-42F so I KNOW the struggle.  I had a great seamstress who sized me up with the corset bra I will be using.  To prevent slipage and movement she put a pair of snaps on each bra cup and on the gown.  Once everything is in place nothing moves!

I don't remember what size she got for me, and honestly I don't think I can really re-use the corset bra again as the cups are still a bit small (but my girls stay in because the dress catches the excess). But I kind of expected that going in.

Long story short, go to a seamstress or other places that will work with you one and one and take your dress.  Look for a corset bra and try it on with the dress.  When you find it you'll know.

So I'm trying this one from Linda the Bra Lady (I know I've seen her recommended around here) and I guess we'll see how it works out?

Thanks for the reminder on the snaps! I suppose even if my dress comes in on Monday I'll just wait to try it on until after the bra arrives. I already have my shoes at least!
