Honey fund

Re: Honey fund

  • Oh, and I am positive that khristiana's family and friends complained about her rude behaviors (i.e. honey fund) but just not to her face.

I know thats what happened with this couple's bridal cash shower and wedding.
  • If the best defense of your argument is "I am entitled to think it" that doesn't say much about your argument....

It is like people who think freedom of speech= consequence-free speech. The government can not make a law that what you are saying (within reason) is illegal, but it doesn't mean a company can't fire you for saying stupid or ignorant things.

I'm not familiar with honey funds and they're not the most refined things out there. The concept is deceptive because you're giving a certain amount but the website takes a chunk of it. It'll be better to give money in a card I suppose. Also, I don't know about your folks @perdonami but this can be a very acceptable thing culturally. The country where I was born (Mauritius) almost never does thoughtful gifts or registries. It is the norm to include on the invitation cards "No boxed gifts please" or something along that line. And since it has been like that for a hundred years, it is never frowned upon there. But like I said, it's a cultural thing. FI and I are not personally doing this because we are in the UK and understand that half of our guest list would be appalled by this (even though I still grew up in my home country and getting married there.)

  • @raissyrais Sure, maybe it is different in your home country, but is it socially acceptable to host a party for your wedding guests asking for cash before the wedding? Is it socially acceptable to include a cutsey poem on the invitation for this cash party requesting cash for your honeymoon?

To me that just seems silly and a bit rude across cultures not to mention it may make some guests feel bad if they can't donate to your honeymoon and thus are unable to attend your cash party or cash wedding.

Seems uneccesary to include on any invitation, "Hey I'd love me some money! Please do come!"

    I 100% agree that it's unacceptable.
