Re: Weekend Recap

  • @justbeingme93 - I just got one of these from work, and it's amazing:

I also have one of these (from Target) and love it:

But the Camelbak one is my fave :)

  • @goldenpenguin if you need any help with the painting, let me know! The key to good watercolor pieces are generally using the right brush (size totally matters! not too big, not too small, and plenty soft. Not what I'd usually be saying ;P too much?) Another thing to consider-- I really like using water colors from a tube, as opposed to the little cakes. You can often get richer/ more subtle colors. But the little cakes can do mighty things as well as long as you don't forget that you can mix them, so you can't go wrong either way. Can you tell I just did watercolor landscapes with the children?
  • @eilis1228 thank you for the hugs/ encouragement! I can't get enough of that. @lapeanut1018 & @southernpeach89 -- I'm so sorry for your loss :(@loves2shop4shoes good luck at the doctors! I hope things get fixed for you soon!

@justbeingme93 I'm so sorry to hear about your friend! She's so young! I'm glad she has such a strong support system though. She'll definitely need you guys in the weeks ahead. I really love the idea of what you have, and I agree with other PPs about lotion/beauty products to help keep her moisturized and feeling pretty during the treatments. I've heard ginger ale/ginger root is good for nausea too. If you have her H's contact info, you may want to be sneaky and ask him what e-reader she has. I would also suggest Soduku, word finds, etc. Or even an iTunes gift card or a Netflix subscription so that she can watch movies or shows during the treatments.

  • @loves2shop4shoes Aw, I'm sorry that such a great meal was ruined by your gallbladder! I hope that you can get everything diagnosed and treated quickly. My mom had her gallbladder out last fall, and she's so much happier for it. Hopefully you'll have the same results!

  • Hugs to @southernpeach89 and @lapeanut1018!!

@justbeingme93 I'm currently working at a drug store temporarily (hopefully) and we just had an article about chemo bags in our corporate magazine - it stressed socks, lip balm, and hydration like ginger ale or Gatorade. Hope that helps!!

@minskat30 so glad everything worked out with the house!! We close on Thursday! We are having the carpets cleaned Friday because the owners have a dog but then it's move in ready! We are moving boxes over slowly then the big stuff at the end of the month!

I worked this weekend (lame). But my community band meets tomorrow so I'm excited to get to play again. Should be fun!!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @southernpeach89 & @LaPeanut1018 - I'm so sorry for your loss. :( However, I am glad that both of you were able to say your goodbyes. HUGS

@kaitlynmichelle - WOW. The view on that hike looks fantastic and totally worth it! I'm hoping to do a similar length hike this weekend, but the heat may stop us. :(

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My weekend was 'aight. We completely re-organized our living room, and it's a BILLION times better. I did some shopping, and have realized that if I ever don't know what to get someone for a present, I will just go to World Market. Saturday night I got hammered on whiskey gingers and watched Apocalypse Now for the first time.Really had no idea what that movie was about, but I'm glad I've seen it now. Anyway, made it through a full night of drinking without even trying to ask for a cigarette, haha. That's a really good sign!

Went to a small theme park on sunday for BF's work. Didn't end up getting to meet his boss. I was excited to be underhandedly snarky to him. . . Only stood in line for 5 rides, and on two of them someone ended up puking, so they closed the ride to clean up before I could ride it. Seeing two people puke in one day is enough for me, that's for sure. One lady obviously had a bright red slushee or gatorade or something.

Not excited to be at work. Hell no.

  • @Blue & White yay for closing on the house this week!

    Anniversary

  • @justbeingme93 I'm so sorry about your friend's diagnosis!! Chemo is really, really rough and exhausting. I'd honestly recommend TV shows/movies over books; when my IBD fatigue was really bad, I didn't have enough energy to do anything besides watch TV shows I'd already seen before (or watch J play video games).

  • @blue&white - CONGRATS!  It is so excited to be at the end of the home owner journey, isn't it?
  • @phira,

That is really good to know. I will have to look into some DVDs for her.

@southernpeach89 and @LaPeanut1018 - I am tearing up.... I'm so sorry for your loss.

My weekend was pretty good. My entire family went to Schlitterbahn for the weekend! I'm a little burned but it was a much needed getaway.

  • @southernpeach89 and @lapeanut1018 I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so difficult and I can't imagine going through it (again). Tessie and I send our love and hugs!

@loves2shop4shoes gallbladders suck. Take that sucker out! I kissed mine goodbye earlier this year after spending the night in the ER screaming and withering in pain for them to tell me that I just had to let it pass and hope that I could see my doctor before I had another attack. It was AWFUL!

Friday I was off of work. I went up to the hospital to visit my cousin and his wife who had a baby last Thursday. He is adorable and his parents are doing great. That night BF and I went out to a smokehouse in town and I had brisket mac & cheese. It was the nom to die for!

Saturday was a washout here. We did some stuff around the house and then ran errands. My living room is finally all put together and feels lived in. We met up with friends for dinner and then went and saw Guardians of the Galaxy. We brought in snacks (pretzels, candy, and a jar of Nutella with spoons) and beers. It was hilarious and the movie was awesome.

Yesterday we hung out around the house. We gave the house a good deep cleaning. Laundry and grocery's were done by 4 so we just relaxed on the couches until bed. It. Was. Awesome. It was also spoil Tessie day, she got a new treat, a doggie ice cream, and a new toy all throughout the day. She loved it! It was the least we could do because she was inside most of the time due to the rain.
    friends tv show funy
  • @eilis1228, was Guardians of the Galaxy worth it? Also I've got Sharknado 2 DVR'd - looking forward to it!

@bookishgiraffes, sorry to hear about your grandpa. I'm glad your friend's bridal shower was so much fun!

@clogreeneyes, feel better soon and may review go well!

@lilacck28, yum indeed. Good luck on your job hunt!

@blackbird230, good luck at your interviews!

@southernpeach89 and @lapeanut1018, I'm so sorry about Bella. It is losing a family member. You guys are in my thoughts.

    @peaseblossom55, yay for wedding pics!

@justbeingme93, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I second (or whatever) the recommendation for DVDs.

    @minskat30, yay for closing!!

    @loves2shop4shoes, feel better soon!

@blue, yay for closing as well!!

My weekend was pretty darn good. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday FI and I worked on the house - there's still a lot of work to do, but now it seems more like it's laundry to do and put away than a bunch of boxes to go through.

I can't remember anything else, to be honest. We got storage racks and plastic totes at some point this weekend. Beyond that I have no clue what we did. Oh well.
  • Yup, I bought a house for myself (and my crazy dog lady future that I imagined) before I met SO.

I highly recommend getting painting finished before moving any stuff in - I had three weeks off work after closing and still didn't get painted, moved, and unpacked in that time!  I also had my hardwoods refinished though.

  • Helloooo all!

Today is my Monday, because yesterday was a holiday here.

My weekend was lovely and busy and I could use another day off to sleep, but sadly that's not happening.

Friday was a shit show at work. I came in an hour early because I had so much to do and knew that I was losing an hour to a team meeting and then another hour and a half covering reception (since our receptionist had the day off). But I got to leave work early (we close early on the Fridays of long weekends), and went out for dinner with FI and his parents and sister and her husband. Then FI and I hung out and watched the Newsroom and stayed up way too late lol

Saturday FI went golfing and I slept in and did some cleaning around the apartment. Then we went to look at a new townhouse development going in just north of the city (not super far) and I am pretty sure that we're going to buy one of those. We're meeting with our relator's mortgage broker tonight and then we'll just have to arm wrestle over which unit to buy (we like different units...what a surprise!)

Sunday was church and then we went up to my family's cottage for the rest of the day and yesterday. I got a little too much sun yesterday and was just wiped when we got home; I fell asleep on the couch before 9:30, and was NOT happy about having to get up for work this morning!

  • Regarding the rest of your weekends...(yes I'm double posting...sue me)

@eilis1228 - That is a lot of drinking... your FI's combination sounds pretty deadly!

@bookishgiraffes - I love the Office, I've seen most of them way too many times. I know so much of the dialogue that I think FI gets annoyed watching with me lol

@CLOGreenEyes - Sorry your weekend was taken over by sickness. I hope you're feeling better!

@severmilli12 - Glad you got a few things done while your FI was away. I hope he had a good trip and is feeling alright!

@Blackbird230 - How was your interview yesterday? Good luck at the one later this week!!

@southernpeach89 and @LaPeanut1018 - I'm so sorry about your family's dog; that's heartbreaking, but I am glad that you got to see her and say goodbye. Hugs!

@Peaseblossom55 - Aw, yay for wedding photos! How did the counter installation go yesterday?

@TwoDimes - YAY for booking a photographer! That was the first vendor we booked once we had our venue and date.

@minskat30 - Congrats on the closing, that is great news. Glad it all got sorted out after them dicking around and not showing up.

@CocoBellaF - I am so jealous of your shopping trip. My work wardrobe could use an update, hopefully once FI and I are splitting a mortgage and other expenses I will have more fun money than I do now! Living alone is so damn expensive!

@justbeingme93 - I am so sorry to hear about your friend and her diagnoses. Hopefully the chemo and radiation work and they can start wiping that out.

@GoldenPenguin - Your invites sound so pretty! I love that they'll tie in with your venue :)

@Blue & White -  I am going to care very much about paint colours when FI and I get a house! I have been living with "renter's beige" for a couple years and I'm really sick of it!

  • @lmcooper86 What a fun weekend! Sorry Friday was so bad, but it sounds like you had a nice long weekend to recover. :) Is work better today? And yes, FI's combo was pretty bad. He likes to blame the Mexican food though instead of the alcohol... so stubborn.
