Thursday Chat

This will be another post and run for me, and my formatting is going to be weird because I'm on an iPad and I don't think it plays well with TK. Anyway...I miss you guys! I moved into my new office yesterday and I have 0 privacy so I have to knot from the safety of my iPad in the cafeteria. The new campus is okay, not my favorite but I'll get used to it. I felt like I was in a cross between the shows Nurse Jackie and OITNB. One of my new office-mates bought me coffee and a donut, if this was prison, I guess I would be her prison bitch. The commute is okay. I have to take a shuttle from the main campus to this campus and kill a half hour in the morning and at night to take my commuter shuttle home. I'm okay with that. I'll bring stuff to do (books, knitting, etc) What's new in everyone's world?????

Re: Thursday Chat

  • @Buddysmom80 - hope you adjust to the new office.

Things here are ok.  Nothing new really going on.  Busy at work.

  • @buddysmom80 -Haha I love how you compared your new office to OITNB!

Today should be pretty easy going I hope. I need to finish cleaning the house before this weekend and I'll probably go to CrossFit tonight as usual.

I also found out that I never made a reservation for the hotel for H's friend's wedding in September which really confuses me. I must have dreamed I made the reservation because I was positive I received a confirmation email about it...ugh oh well that's another thing I need to do today.
  • @buddysmom80- Glad to hear that the new office move went well. My work blocks theknot too, so when school starts I'll only be on after hours :-(

On that note, I'm kinda nervous about going back to work in a couple weeks. This will be my last year as a Ms.! I went into the school yesterday to see the new tile in my classroom. I love the job they did, but I wish I didn't have to share the room. I like my partner, but she doesn't get along with anyone else on my team. So, there's always drama about that...which makes me want to leave the room. I may just share a room with another teacher since I don't know if I can handle all of the drama about how no one likes her.

My cousin's FI's bridal shower is this Sunday. I'm getting excited to see how all of the plans come together! It's a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme and we probably over did it, but I think the bride will love it. The only thing that is buggin' me about it is the cash bar (of course with a "drink up darlings" banner) and the fact that the bride has a myregistry.com with a honeymoon fund and a house down payment fund...wtf. And almost all of the physical gifts are online from amazon or overstock. We'll see how many last minute shoppers there are!

Only one more day til the weekend :-)

    Hey @Buddysmom80 !!

I was thinking about you yesterday because I saw that old thread of yours that got resurrected and I started reading it thinking it was new and was like "OMG - only SIX MONTHS until her wedding!" and then when I realized it was old I was like " AHHH only FOUR months." So yeah, I was freaking out on your behalf.

I'm sad you won't be able to play on TK as much, but excited about your job!

  • @500days what are you working as? I just think it's funny you might be able to change which room you're in :) I'm like waaaaait that can't be big kids? Maybe daycare or nursery? I'm buying a house today!! My nose is all stuffed up and that's lame. But I should have a new house by noon!!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @buddysmom80, except for the lack of privacy and OITNB vibe, I hope your new office is nice!

Lab today, writing tonight, meeting with my adviser this morning, meeting with my boss this afternoon, and somehow I have to find time to review something I got emailed with high priority for my new job. Clone me.
  • I'm super tired today. I have some sort of poison ivy rash all over my torso and one of my arms and on my thighs and it's spreading...ughhhh. So last night I didn't get a lot of sleep even though I took a Benadryl and rubbed calomine lotion alll over me. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and I can't wait. I really hope there is something they can do. I'm absolutely miserable.

Tonight I really need to go home and clean. I took at stab at addressing more invitations last night but I was tired (again from lack of sleep) so I only got through a few before quitting. So I guess invite addressing is on the agenda as well.

@KeptInStitches I'll clone you if you clone me. Then I could send my clone to work and I could stay at home all day and do whatever I wanted.

  • @Blue YAY for house!! Good luck with the closing!

@Imcooper86 Love that sneak peak! Such a cute picture. Can't wait to see the rest!

Not too much going on over here. Work and cheer. I am looking forward to the first Pat's preseason televised game! Football is right around the corner!!

  • @Blue & White, I work in a 6-8th gr. public middle school. I'm a special ed teacher, so I'm a total gypsy teacher anyways. I would probably just change my room to be with one of my co-teachers or with my paraprofessional. Congrats on buying your house! So exciting!
  • @Blue yay for buying a house today!!! Good luck

@buddysmom80 yay for the new location, it sucks about privacy though.

I woke up with my allergies being real bad and an awful headache, I really wanted to lay down an go back to sleep.  H found out yesterday he doesn't need knee surgery just PT for a month, we are both so relieved, he starts PT tonight.  We are now trying to find flooring and backsplash for the kitchen, that will probably be our weekend project.  For some reason I'm feeling bummed about my birthday coming up. I don' want it to, I'd love for H to have something planned for us to do but I doubt he will.

  • @500days aw you're special ed too?  So is @southernpeach89's H!  That's awesome!  And makes more sense why you can change rooms, lol.

I hope you feel better soon, @peaseblossom55!!

  • @buddysmom80 - Hope you get used to your new office soon!

@LaPeanut1018 - Yikes!  Any idea what caused the rash?

@Blue&White - I'm SO excited for you!!!!  Yeah, homeownership!  :)  Good luck today.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

I'm working (a lot) today and also have to call a plumber for our house....we are making a 1/2 bath into a full bath so we can eventually remodel the only full bath we currently have (it is true 1940s...pink tile, blue tub and all).  H is off today and has about three vendors lined up, several calls with dump trucks to make, and a dump truck permit to get.  He's going to be a busy boy.

  • @500days My H is a math special ed teacher for 7th graders! He wishes sometimes he could change who he teaches with but he doesn't get that luxury all the time. They had to hire 2 more special ed teachers this year and they are with severe and profound when H teaches mainly autistic and behavioral disorders.
  • @minskat30 I did a lot of weeding Sunday and probably touched something that my skin clearly doesn't like. The only way I can think that it got on my torso is because the oils went through my shirt and shorts or because my body hates me. I'm not sure which...I just really hope the doctor can give me something today that 1. gets rid of the itch and 2. makes my skin look normal again.

  • I'm sorry @LaPeanut1018 - That sounds aweful.  Fingers crossed the doctor can help.
  • @Blue & White - Yay homeownership! FI and I have decided on a house that we want to move forward with, so now I'm a ball of anxiety thinking about all of the things that can go wrong lol. Hope everything goes well today :)

@LaPeanut1018 - That is awful, I'm sorry you're having such a bad reaction. Hopefully the doc can give you something that will help!

@caseface5 - Thanks! He showed us a few on the camera while we were with him and I think they're going to turn out really well (and I usually hate photos of myself!)

    SITB!

It's a tough life, isn't it?! I'm counting down the days until I go back, trying to get my mind prepared for the long days and nights. I teach ELA/SS and very similar to your H, I get all of the behavioral disorders! I have one student with autism; last year I had 3 and it was a handful. One day I'd like to look into ELL or Reading Specialist certification, just to have more options just in case.

Yes it can be really exhausting for us both. He is usually working after he leaves work, it never ends but he really enjoys it. I don't know if he will stick with special ed for the rest of his teaching career, he was just promoted to department chair this year so I think after we does this for a couple more years he will look into going into administration. He is going to go get his Leadership degree starting in the Spring so hopefully that helps out.
  • Thanks for the love everyone I miss you guys! It sucks that a lot of us are on the same boat, so maybe it'll be more active here after work hours (fingers crossed) @lapeanut1018 I hope they figure out what's going on with that rash, that must be a pain!!!!

  • @lmcooper86 LOVE the photo! Absolutely gorgeous (you and the photo).

I'm pretty wiped this morning. I was running around all day yesterday, getting work done, then doing laundry, then driving my bird to my aunt's house for birdsitting, then going to the grocery store, and then packing. And then J had a rough night, nightmare-wise; he ended up waking up shouting twice (which hasn't happened in a while), and the first time, he was convinced someone was in the room and insisted that I turn the light on. I'm not upset with him (I've woken up screaming convinced there was someone in the room three or four times), but it was pretty disruptive, sleep-wise.

Today, I had to get into work before 9 (which for me is early; I normally get in at 10) to make sure I'll be done with work by 4:45. Tonight, we're having dinner with my future father-in-law and bringing all of our stuff with us so we can pack the car. And then tomorrow, we're driving up to Canada after work!

I have a wax appointment today, and it's stressing me out. First, I'm stressed because it's been six weeks since my last wax and ... some of my bikini line hair didn't grow back in. I'm not exactly complaining, but I'm not sure what's going on, and if everything's ingrown or something. I'm also stressed because I shaved my legs a week and a half ago, and the hair might not be quite long enough to wax, but I've got my fingers crossed. And finally, I have to run a gel while I go to the salon, and I'm worried it'll run too long (but I'm going to ask my coworker to keep an eye on it for me and stop it if it finishes first).

  • @phira I wouldn't worry too much. I usually stretch my waxes 6 to 7 weeks and sometimes 8. Over time, I noticed my hair grew back less in some areas and was definitely thinner overall. I think it just happens with consistent waxing. If you had a bunch of ingrowns you'd know it!

  • @Twodimes and @Blue thanks, still fighting the headache.

I'm feeling bridezilla-y right now. I emailed my mom to tell her that based on Yelp comments, we should get to the bridal store when it opens on Saturday morning, because it's an absolute madhouse on weekends. She replies "Seriously, I cannot get to the city at 9:30 on a Saturday morning." Now I'm all grumpypants because I'd rather wake up extra early to have a quieter, nicer dress-shopping experience than to get to take my time  getting there but deal with dozens of extra brides and their entourages filling up the place. I've been waiting for weeks to go shopping with my mom because we've both been busy on alternate weekends all summer, so I really want to make the most of the day we planned :-(

  • @hummingbird125- I hear you about the dress shopping. It's the worst because then the consultant has to juggle you and the other brides. I'm going to dress shopping tonight, since they are open until 8 on Thursdays and Fridays. Hopefully it's not crowded and I can try on more styles.
  • @Hummingbird125 Do they not take appointments? Having a set appointment will hopefully make for a less stressful experience overall...but I agree on getting there early. It'll feel better to be there and have it be quiet and serene before it gets crazy with 50 bajillion other brides.

VERY true. Which is why I don't shave my bikini line anymore. The last time I did, I spent about a week reminding J, "If I ever think about shaving here again, please give me an extremely condescending and skeptical glare."

  • @LaPeanut1018 I really hope the doctor is able to tell you what kind of rash it is and how to get rid of it ASAP. That sounds miserable :(

@buddysmom80 I really hope you love the new office, despite the commute and lack of privacy!

@lmcooper86 That picture is gorgeous! I really love the city lights at night, and you guys look great in the foreground. Can't wait to see the rest!

Last night was a little rough for me. My stomach was really upset and I spent the majority of the night running to the bathroom. No idea what caused it--could have been the popcorn I snacked on, could have been the taco salad I ate for dinner. All I know is almost immediately after finishing dinner, my stomach started feeling like it'd been punched.

In between bathroom trips, FI and I finished watching Attack on Titan. I'm not sure how many of you watch anime, but it's a really solid show. We only watch the English dubs for anime, so we have to wait for the next 13 dubs to be released in September. :( Sadness.

Today will probably be busy at work. I need to figure out more stuff in the CRM (which is still super buggy and glitchy) and try to get everything in order here for my vacation. I'm a little nervous about how many emails and issues I'll return to after being gone a week. :-\

I'm also hoping the jeweler calls today to say my ring is ready. When I dropped off the center stone last week, he vaguely said it would be ready sometime this week. He also said he'd ordered extra gem stones because he anticipated a few breaking while he set the ring, and then he'd rhodium plate it... so yeah, no idea how long any of that takes. Since I dropped off the center stone just before they closed on Friday, and they're only open for like a half day Saturday (which I assume they use that time for retail purposes only, not for working on pieces), he probably started working on the ring Monday. In my head, today seems like a logical day for it to be ready.

Also, FI and I ordered oversized beach towels on Amazon. Both were marked as delivered yesterday, but we only received one. We double checked the mailbox and talked with the leasing office, and they don't have the missing one. Of course, the one that we do have is mine, but FI is the one who really needs the oversized towel because he's a giant. I chatted with Amazon, and they said that they only fulfilled the order from an independent seller, so they can't overnight a replacement. They gave us a refund, and FI and I are going to try and find a towel at a physical store somewhere for him. The one time Amazon has failed us... sadness.
