Calling all knotties with nose piercings.

I have a nose piercing & recently lost the nose screw I've had for five years. I can't get a replacement because I don't know where it was purchased. I've bought a few new ones, but they all stick out of my nose. I move it, and it moves right back. Also I can feel them in my nose, which is weird because when I wore my other one I forgot it was in there.

I'm pretty set on the screws because other types of nose jewelry freak me out. Does anyone order nose screws online they can recommend? I'm looking for a small, simple stud.

Re: Calling all knotties with nose piercings.

  • This is kind of stupid-sounding, but I got some small screws from the Piercing Pagoda back in the day that were actually really unobtrusive (inside my nose). The one I wear now I bought at a jewelry/tattoo shop (in Europe, after I lost the original one on a club's dancefloor, woo!), so I think going to a piercing/tattoo place might be good, too, since you'll be able to see exactly how big the screw is. My Piercing Pagoda ones were basically little hooks, rather than full corkscrews, but the one I wear now is about a rotation and a half, and I only feel it if it gets, uh, bogged down, shall we say, when I have a cold.

  • I don't have one anymore but I used to have a screw kind that I got on Amazon. I find everything there.

    Good luck!

  • Mine is also like a hook. I tried the ones with the little ball on the end and every time I had to take it out for work it ripped the hell out of my nose because the ball on the end is larger than your piercing. So I went back to the hook that I originally got it pierced with (holy shit that was 11 years ago I'm so old). So I vote geting it from a local tattoo and piercing shop where you know the quality and sterilization.

  • Yeah, I've always gotten mine from legit tattoo parlors. Just tell them your issue and I'm sure they can find something comfy for you.
  • I did visit one tattoo/piercing parlor that's the best in town, but they made me feel really stupid and tried to convince me to purchase something that wasn't a screw. I didn't feel comfortable with it, so they showed me the few screws they still sell, but they all look like the old one I'm using now which obviously doesn't work.

    Maybe I'll try somewhere else.

  • @ElcaB I can't say I know exactly the types you are talking about, but the one(s)I have are a "screw." At least that's what I would classify them as, anyway. I purchased them at Spencers. It came in a two pack. One has a little ball on top and one has a little gem on top. I've not changed it in years - I only take it out occasionally to clean it.

So, perhaps this is the same as you want? I don't know if Spencers still carries it, and I cannot access their website to give you a link - since it's blocked at work! - but it might be worth a shot. :)

  • I've always gone to a tattoo and piercing place.  They've bent the nose screws right in front of me and were able to adjust them if I found them uncomfortable.

Last time I went in, they suggested little internally threaded stems with the bling part that's a seperate piece and screws in.

Kind of like this, but mine has a ball where the flat disc is and it's prettier (obvs).  I was skeptical but gave it a shot and LOVED it.  My nostril screws got all booger crusty, and I played with them a lot since I could take them out.  These bad boys stay put, I can't get them out myself, so I leave them alone, and they don't crust up, since they're smooth.
  • When in doubt check amazon. Actually I prefer the screw too and they don't mass market the ones I like anymore so I check out online tattoo and piercing supply websites. You can probably find what you are looking for on one of them.
