Invitations-Sent!!! Question about gift.

I put my invitations in the mail (at the post office) at 1pm two days ago. All the local guests received them yesterday, and I have  had some email me, facebook message me and stop by my office to give me their "no" response and explain why they can't make it. I think that's sweet. Waste of postage, but sweet. LOL

One lady I used to work with brought me a gift because she will not be able to attend the wedding. So.... do I open it now and send thank you note, or wait til the wedding?

Open now and send a thank you note. Don't use the item until after the wedding.

In the note, I would also thank her specifically for the (name item here). We received an early gift that we opened and sent a thank you note for. I named the item specifically and the gift giver told me that the place where he bought it shipped the wrong gift! So I'm not sure if he will want to exchange it but if so, it's still in its original packaging.

@beachyone15 is correct. Open it, thank you note it up, wait to use it. That is really sweet that she personally delivered it to you!
