Wedding day shoe POLL

Just curious to see who will be wearing what on their big day. I think I want to wear heels, but comfort is also important. I mean, who really see's them, right?

Re: Wedding day shoe POLL

  • I'm 5'2" and my FI is 6'1". I need the height!

That is a great point! Never thought of that. I'm in the same boat, I'm 5'3" and FI is 6'3" Pictures may look better. Sometimes I hate pictures of us, because he tends to lean over me and it just looks funny, lol!
  • I voted others, but I wore heels for the ceremony and a few pictures.  After an hour I was all "F this shit, get me my wedges!"  So I changed into comfy foam wedged flip flops I got from VS that were the same height as my heels (no worries about the dress dragging).  OMG, my feet felt great for the rest of the night!  Comfort should always win, especially when no one will see them.

This. We had photos done once where I wore flats and it looked pretty silly. Plus, I just like heels!
  • Tall wedges if I can find a pair that I like. Comfy to dance/walk around in, and will give me some extra height.

  • My heels were my "something blue".  I actually had a few of my pro photos with a view of my shoes.  If I had to do my wedding again, I would wear a tea-length dress to show off those shoes (and since DH kept stepping on my dress all night).

And I changed into white flip-flops at the reception.
  • I have a tea length dress to show off my gold heels, but I have gold glitter flats from Payless to change into at the reception if need be. Once pictures and the ceremony are done, I'm all about comfort.
  • Heels. I'm 5'2 and my FI is 6'7. I love heels anyway, but standing next to him in flats always seems weird to me. I'll probably change into a wedge heel for the reception.
  • I had 3 pairs of shoes for my wedding day. Ridiculous, yes, but great pictures, waltz dance shoes, and comfy party shoes were worth it.

  • I'm 5'7" and H is 6'3" so I wore short heels for the ceremony. Then I had flats for the reception since I don't love dancing in heels if I don't need to.

  • I'm all for flats as to why bother with two pairs of shoes when you can have 1 comfortable shoe and not have to change midway through the night, but FI and I also don't have a problem with height either, we are about the same, he's maybe an inch or two taller.

  • I struggled over shoes.... I love high high heels, especially when I'm out with FI because we have the 5'3/6'4 problem... but I'm also always the girl who takes her shoes off at weddings after about 3 dances.

So I forced myself to stick with heels that are only 3.25 inches. I went with one of the Betsy Johnson 'Blue' shoes and I wore them out to a party a few weeks ago to make sure they could last me hours on my feet. They were definitely comfortable.

But then I got nervous anyways and ordered a pair of solid white Converse All-Star platform wedges. They have a 3" heel, so are aaalllmost as tall as my heels, so I'm hoping my dress won't drag on the ground too much if I change into them... Since they are all white (they don't even have that black line around the sole that most converse do) I'm hoping that by 10pm when I'll change no one will even notice...

  • I'm 5'2" and FI is about 5'5", so I struggled with flats or heels.  I finally decided on a 2.5" heel :)
  • What's with all the petite brides and tall grooms? Save the tall boys for the tall girls! We have limited selection! (if you care about such things) Haha I'm tall and almost as tall as FI, but I do love heels.
  • I'm 5'3 and FI is only like 5'7. I'm wearing 3 inch heels the whole time, but my reception is only a short dinner, no dancing. If it were dancing I'd change into flats.

  • I'm wearing flats. I can't wear heels and FI is about my height (I'm 5'1", he's 5'4").

  • I'm 5'9" and FI is 6'3"...but I'm still wearing 4" heels. I might get some wedge flip flops in case my feet start to hurt.

  • I'm wearing 3 inch heels.  I still want to be able to walk, and dance without discomfort.  I could wear much higher hells, as FI is 6'8", but I really want to get down to the aisle without worrying about tripping.

  • I might buy some flats for the express purpose of walking between locations (it's a very hilly venue).

I wore wedges (3¼"), because ours was a backyard wedding and I was worried about heels + grass! They were comfortable enough that I could dance in them all night.

    ETA: I'm 5'6" and H is just about 6'.

  • I had a pair of two inch heels for the ceremony.  Enough to be tall/cute without getting too high.(I'm 5'3" and DH is 5'8").  I also found wedged sandles to wear during the reception at the same height so I wouldn't be trampling my dress all night.  It worked well!
  • I'm hoping to find a nice wedge.  I don't want super tall, FI is only a couple of inches taller than me.

  • I'm also hoping to find a nice wedge but I need the height. I am already tall (5'8") but my fiancé is very tall (6'6") so I'm hoping to make up some of the difference with the shoes! We're getting married outside so I want wedge to avoid sinking if the ground is wet!

I just ordered these from David's Bridal. The reviews are mixed, but they were on clearance for $15 so I'm only out $20 if they are horribly uncomfortable. If they feel okay, I may dye them Oasis.

  • I'm 5'1 and FI is 6'7 so gotta wear the 3 inch heels to try in get to make it look a little less awkward. I'm planning on getting flats for the reception though.

  • I'm wearing Toms(: I would love to wear heels but I look like a dork trying to walk in them and I'd be taller than FI in heels so...Toms and I'll be super comfy all night.

  • I guess I'm the odd man out. Short wedges for ceremony and then switching into big girl heels for the rest of the night. My fiancé is only three inches taller so I didn't want to be taller at the ceremony. I wear heels all day every day so am used to them. That being said...I'll most likely stash some toms somewhere just in case I need to change for a third time

  • I'm 5'2 and FI is 6', but we're having an outdoor ceremony. I know that there are those heel things which stop you from sinking in to the grass, but I'm doing wedges (if I can find ones that don't look so clunky).
  • I'm 5'3 and DH is 6'3. I wore 4 inch heels for the ceremony, photos, and pre-dancing part of the reception. After dinner, I put on my flats and danced the night away.

  • Flats because I'm a klutz.
