Welcome!  I'd say don't be in a huge rush to start making decisions - enjoy getting married, and do lots of browsing.  I jumped on a dress right away....then kept looking and ended up buying a completely different dress a couple of weeks ago, and my "vision" has kept changing (been engaged for 8.5 months now, wedding is in 7.5 months).

1) budgets vary. Decide how much you want to spend on a wedding and stick to it. Just find whatever fits in your budget. Think outside the "normal" wedding venues.

2) colors can be whatever. Mine were navy, ivory and an accent of kermit green. Mine was in summer, though. If we'd been planning for winter it would have been totally different.
