OVERDUE recap!

my bad y'all

I took the whole week before the wedding off. the satuday before the wedding was my birthday and also my bachlorette party. It was all good and fun until one of my friends got drunk, started a bar fight, her FI was our DD and got arested, I busted my ass and fell in my 5 inch heels dn tore up my knees. yeah.
I spent Monday and Tuesday gettin gmy house ready for my family to come to town, only my mom was staying with me but still, people woul be over. AND getting my kids ready to start school. I didn't plan ahead and realize when selecting my wedding date I was also picking 2 DAYS after my kids start school. One of them was going into kindergarten. I'm glad I wa off work though It helped make that transition smooth for them. Thursday adn friday were spent doing all the finishing touched like a crazy person. Making the favors, arraigning the favors, finishing the escort cards, finishing the dresses both mine and the flower girl's dress were homemade. But by friday at 5 it all had to be done because the rehersal. It went well.

Wedding Day!

I planned to go to the gym but I didn't. I planned to sleep in but didnt. I woke up early and tried to east breakfast but my nerves were on 10! Me adn one of my BMs went and got our hair done. neither of us were happy wiyth it lol. While I was gone MIL did my daugters hair, I didn't like that eaither but it was too late. Make up artist was there. She did such a good job. I din't tell yall this but 3 days before the wedding one of my BMs tells me our makeup artist fell through. apperantly she had been dodging calls and texts and finally called to say her makeup got "stolen" and she could't do it. 3 days notice that she wouldn't have even done had she not been blown up by the girls trying to confirm. So I am even more impressed with how good the girl we got did. She was on point and last minute.

The ceremony started 10 mins late. I was annoyed but there was nothign I could do. I was just waiting in the bridal suite like why is nothing happening? It was lovely once it started though. I said "I do" too early lol. I was nervous. everyone laughed. we recessed, did pics and then...

I had a meltdown

We didn't do a reciving line and everyone kept coming up to me to say hello, I tried to tell them we would do table visits at dinner. I was getting annoyed because I just wanted to sit. Everyone was in my face, DJ, guests, parents, photog, ugh, it was too much. Because all of that I said I didn't want to do intros and the DJ heard that. Someone else said we had to. Ensue more confusion. DJ didn't do intros but I was told we had to so we waited. but then the song played and no intros so I basically stormed in and sat at my table and told everyone dont talk to me. omg y'all I am so embarassed abouth that, I was instantly and still am. I was calm the entire planning process and then was a bridezilla in front of 120 people.

Anyway I kind of appologized durring visits. drank some wine and had a good time. Mr and I had fun but it was a lot of work. However everythign was beautiful and all the guests said it was the best wedding they had been to so I feel good about it. Every one was drunk. my stepdad slept in the lawn. my brother slept in his car in the driveway. We way overpurchased alcohol so we have a lot left.

Overall it was a great day. I wish I had a videograpger so I could relive it. Our photog did okay but I wish he would have gotten more candids and less portraits. My brother made us a photo booth and that was a ton of fun, vebe enjoyed looking at the pictures people took. Our first dance song was Simple Things by Miguel. I get all emotional everytime I hear it now haha.

Re: OVERDUE recap!

  • I thought I was going to have to hunt you down.  LOL!

Well you had one very interesting week but it ended very well.

First - how are those knees?

Shame on your original MUA.  Glad you found another one who was terrific.

I had to laugh at your meltdown.  That sounds like something I would do when stressed out.  I would have loved to have seen you storming in.  That must have been a sight to see.  Hee-Hee.

You had one heck of a party!  Family on the lawn and in cars.  Girl - you threw down.  LOL!

Congrats on your wedding and you looked fabulous.  You have some gorgeous hair by the way.

P.S.  You remind me of a high school classmate of mine named Gretchen.  They say there's a twin for everyone in the world.

  • Girrrrl.  Ya'll had you a day huh?  ROTFL!!!!   I love your recap.  Especially the part about everybody backing the hell up offa you.   I know folks mean well and all that but just reading about it gives me hives.  Embarrassed or no, didn't everybody fall back and have seat though?  alright then.  lol!!

Had you given your MUA a deposit.  What happens with that? Do you have to sue her or something?  Man I wanna hurt her feelings on your behalf.  How you finna disappear on someone's wedding day?? and say nothing?  A reputation based business?   I'd lease a billboard on the highway closest to where she work.

You make a beautiful bride, wifey!   Congratulations!!

oooh p.s., folks passed out and unconscious wherever they happened to be standing/sitting = a guut party!  lol.

  • Girl im soo sorry to hear this no one deserves that and yes he needs to go get counseling for his self because its deeper than that night... you are in my prayers and we are always here every for support

  • Say what??  I am speechless and dismayed.  I am very sorry that you are having to deal with this.  I agree with Tira his issue is deeper than the one night but there is no excuse for his hitting you.  You and the kids are in my prayers.

    Love is the ultimate superpower.

  • Yeah he out of the house tonight. I have his cousins coming to help him get his shit and just in case he gets funny acting. I don't think he will though. I'm changing the locks and everything. The problem is alcohol. He gets drunk and acts like a different person. Not always but clearly when he does he is not a person you want to know.

This has never happened before or I wouldn't have wasted my time.

  • Babe I read the other thread and I had to stop at page 2.  At this point you have a million different words and sentiments coming at you.  All I wanted to add was my support for whatever it's worth.  Only you are capable of determining what you must do and how.  If this is recoverable, you will need your whole team and community to surround you.  All those people crowding you at the reception?  REAL TALK, don't be embarrassed to say I need you today please.  If it is not recoverable, understand that yes, that's going to require some changes of lifestyle for you and the children, but just by telling us what happened you're stronger than you know.   In the meantime, I'm thinking of you and praying for your safety.  Please please keep us posted on how you're doing okay?

  • Eta:  Ok, read further along.  Regarding your question on the other thread about the kids, whether or not he has access to them, legally, is not up to you, it'll be determined by a judge hashing out the terms of custody/visitation.  I do agree with other posters, that in the meantime, find out what your legal entitlements are so that if it does come to court, your ducks are already in a row.
  • @senecaf – I just caught up and read your other post. I am damn near in tears over here reading what you are going through. I couldn’t imagine having everything YOUR WHOLE LIFE come crashing down and taking on a whole new direction. The ladies over there are giving you really SOUND advice. I am VERY PROUD of you for taking that first step (which must’ve completely crushed you) and putting your foot down and putting him out. If you need support we are all here. To talk, cry, laugh, whatever you need.  i do agree with one of the other ladies on chit chat thread- file a report!
