If anyone has read the TMZ article, the NFL did see this video according to the security official from the Revel Casino.  This happened in Atlantic City at the now closed Revel.  I think the only reason this was released now (1 week after the place closed) was because the guy would have no repercussion against him now.

Yes they were both charged (I live in South Jersey) and this was big news around here when it happened because it was local.  It happened right after the Super Bowl sometime, so before Jay Z's elevator ride with Solange.  I do think the reason they got married (within like a month) of the incident was so that neither could testify against the other, that's just my opinion though.

I still can't believe she went ahead and married his ass after what happened though.  Sorry to say but she probably did it for the money but she easily could have gotten the money by suing him instead of legally binding herself to him.
That's an unfair assumption, and also victim shaming. The two have been together for a long time (I think high school or at least college) and have a young child together. As we've seen and heard about many times before, many women in abusive relationships choose to stay despite the dangers to themselves and their children. She may truly love him and believe he can change. She could have low self-esteem and believe this is what she deserves/he's the best she can get. Victim/abuser may be the only relationship dynamic she knows (cycles of abuse also run in families).
I'm sorry but that is my opinion. It doesn't matter how long they have been together or that they have children. What matters is that he fucking punched her twice and then drug her out of the elevator without giving two shits if her unconcious self was okay. That to me is grounds for breaking up and only having contact when it comes to their children.

And if that life (victim/abuser) is the only life she knows then she needs to get herself some help rather then continuing to live that life.

Also I am certainly not saying that him hitting her is acceptable at all, but I do also judge her for slapping him/hitting him in the first place. Abuse can go both ways and she should be just as ashamed of herself for laying her hands on him as he should be for doing what he did.

Finally, she may truly love him, but love is not enough when it comes to staying in an abusive relationship.

Edited because the stupid post didn't keep my paragraphs.
I wasn't trying to defend her decision to continue on with the wedding - simply saying that there are reasons other than being a gold-digger (as your previous post stated) on why women stay with their abusers. Lord knows my mother stayed with my father despite his abusing me, and he didn't have two pennies to rub together.
I guess for me the only reason that I can think that would make sense as to why she stayed is the money angle.  Because for me, the amount of love I have for that person or how long I have been with that person just would not be enough for me to stay.  Maybe she is in desperate need for the money or maybe she just wants to take him through the ringer in divorce court, we will never know.  But I think her staying is dumb.  Period.

They both need to get help that is for sure.

Watching the video was sickening. And the way he dragged her out of the elevator like she was a bag of trash just made it all the more worse. There didn't seem to be any concern on his part after knocking her unconscious.

I'm not a dumb person, but you would be surprised at how easy it is for an abuser to convince their victims that they are dumb, nobody likes them, nobody supports them or their decisions, to start questioning "common sense" and "logical" decisions. It starts slowly, but is easier if the person comes from a history of abuse. They don't know which way is up, down, right, or wrong. They, me, truly believe they are all alone, and the abuser is the only person in their life.

It isn't until you can get away that you can start to gain your sense of equilibrium back. To this day though, I still call myself dumb for staying. My therapist tries very hard to convince me that I wasn't, that I'm not. I was making a decision at the time, that seemed like the best decision, even if it wasn't. What survivors and people still in the abuse situations DON'T need is uneducated people still calling us dumb and stupid for staying. We get that enough from the abusers, we don't need it from any other people.

As for the bolded, your are correct. Both need help, problem is he probably won't get it. I hope she does.

Frankly I don't care if he was fired or not. The NFL has such screwed up priorities. Michael Vick tortured and killed animals, he's got a job. Ray Rice's fiancee married the guy a month later. If she's obviously okay with his behavior, why should the NFL be so upset? Ain't sayyin' she a gold digger.........

If you can keep your job with an organization after torturing innocent animals (and sure, "paying your debt to society") maybe Ray should go to jail for a while and get his job back? Least then there will be gold for her to dig. As it is now she sold her dignity for a guy with no job. I'm curious to see just how long it'll take her to "come to her senses" <side eye>.

Now I'm definitely convinced that you're a troll.

I know several women who have been in physically abusive relationships.  There is a painful psychological aspect to it.  Nobody is saying that she is "okay" with his behavior.

Right or wrong, Professional athletes are role models in our society.  Men who abuse women have absolutely no place being in that type of role.

This is one of the more shocking and disgusting NWR things I've ever read on TK.
Why because I'm more disgusted that Michael Vick still has a job than whether or not Ray Rice does? Humans have free will. Animals do not. Ray Rice's fiancee could have had him arrested. She didn't. Instead she married him. Animals have no free will. They are subjected to whatever humans do to them, good or bad. The NFL gave a sick scumbag who tortures animals for a good time and profit his job back. If there's anything shocking, sick, or disgusting it's that.

@MrsEverHart - the shit you post about your "wedding" is ridiculous and eye-roll worthy at best.

But this crosses the line and is so extremely fucked up I just... I really just can't. I will not spend any of my time or energy reading or responding to anything you say ever again. Unless you post to my board or I'm paged to deal with you.

Oh I definitely agree that Vick should not be considered a role model. Your comment about dogs not being able to fight back like humans can is a disgusting take on empowering the aggressor. Money or not, leaving an abusive relationship is not always cut and dry.

"Deserve" isn't really a word I'm comfortable with. I think all sorts of terrible things happen to great people and lots of shit heels get to go through life never getting what they have coming to them. So "deserve"....meh.

But adults in this country DO have free will. Animals and children, not so much. So I choose to save my sympathies for the innocent and those who have zero control over their horrible situations. I have sympathies for first time abuse victims. I have sympathy for women who are abused, get out, then are stalked and harmed additionally by their abuser. This chick? Nope. Not now anyway.

By marrying the guy instead of leaving him, yup, she's giving consent in some form or another that his treatment of her is acceptable. She might not like it, but she's willing to stick around. There are things each of us are all willing to accept. She wasn't married to him when he beat her unconscious. But she is now. So draw your own conclusions.

But beyond who I feel bad for or who I don't and why - I'm furious that the NFL as an organization allows animal abusers to flourish while thinking they made a big contribution to basic human decency by stripping Ray Rice of his ability to play and that it amounts to a goddamn thing. Had they not accepted Michael Vick back I'd be the first to applaud their stance on Ray Rice's terrible behavior. Instead I'll be boycotting football altogether until the NFL's priorities are similar to mine. Since actions speak louder than words, I'll probably be boycotting awhile.

To those that matter, I'm apparently a really great person. And this is hardly the only place I've been involved in this type of conversation today. Thankfully most of our F&F's agree with me. Many are boycotting as well for the same reasons.
