Are you planning on wearing false eyelashes?

I'm considering false eyelashes for the big day. I don't normally wear them (except on stage in shows) so I'd probably get some natural looking ones.

What are you doing?

Re: Are you planning on wearing false eyelashes?

  • I'm wearing them.  I don't wear them that often because I don't do a very good job, but I'm having someone else do my makeup.
  • Yes I'm planning on wearing lashes.
  • I wore the individual lashes. I had never worn them before. My makeup artist brought them, so I am no help with brands.

  • No.  I never wear them any other time, so I didn't feel any need to.  I also have rather long eyelashes to begin with and wore lash lengthening mascara.
  • I did! Pretty outrageous ones at that. They make my eyes pop so much more in pictures.

  • I thought I would, but fiance told me he hated even the professionally applied individual ones (that I thought were very natural) I've had before, so I guess I'm just gonna look stubby and squinty as usual, lol.

  • I wore fake flashes at my friends wedding (I was a bridesmaid).  The girl got a little glue in my eye and my eyes looked glazed the whole day. I also wear contacts so it really bothered my eyes.  I obviously had a really bad experience- so don't let that stop anyone.  I do however have decent natural lashes, so it was silly for me to get them in the first place.
  • I didn't.  I never wear fake eyelashes and I wear glasses.  Even my natural lashes will start catching my lenses after a second coat of mascara so I didn't want them rubbing and touching all day...so uncomfortable!
  • Yes, sign me up for some fake lashes. If I were better at applying them, I'd probably wear them much more often. But someone else will be doing my makeup, so bring em on!

  • I did. I figured since I do wear them for the stage, it wouldn't be an issue wearing them for the wedding. I wore dainty full strip ones; Revlon featherLITE define lashes- D20 and I got them at walmart.
  • i had them put on at my trial and i love them. but i think ill so eyelash extensions ( they last better if you cry im told)  but really long like in my profile pic
  • I wore the individual ones too. The strip was waaaaay too much for my eyes/face.

  • Yes! I wear lashes for all special occasions and sometimes date nights. Ardell makes the best one and you can find them for pretty cheap.

  • II wore them.  I did shorter, individual lashes.  Agree w/ PP, the strip was way too much for my face.  I had never worn them before, so they took a little getting used to.  I was glad I tried them during my trial so I knew what length worked best.  Really made my eyes stand out.
  • I am using Sephora's flutter fake lashes (not sure if that worked). They are made to frame the outer corner of your eye and look surprisingly natural.

I suck at individual lashes, but look weird with thick lashes.

  • I'm getting those kind that last a month a week and a half before hand- that way if there is anything wrong with it, we have time to do something. I'm doing this INSTEAD of mascara, as I tend to get it everywhere because I swat at my eyes when they itch from allergies and cry a lot when emotional- and it's an outdoor wedding- so they seem to make sense.
  • I'm having someone else do my makeup, so absolutely yes to false lashes.  They will show up so much better in pictures.

  • I'd recommend trying them out WELL beforehand. I've known 2 people (my mom and a friend) who reacted badly to the glue. My mom had the ones that last a month, and 2/3rds of her natural lashes fell out afterwards. She had to go on some prescription medication to grown them back. My friend had a more standard allergic reaction--her eyelids got swollen.

Personally, I'll likely skip them. I'll be wearing contacts, and my eyes get irratated when I wear them all day as-is. I don't want to add to the problem.
  • It always have to trim the outside edges of falsies so they fit my eyes better, no matter what size. When they're smaller and not as close to the corner of my eye, they are SO much more comfortable!

Yes, they make my eyes pop in pictures. However, I'm doing very natural ones for length and thickness. You should steer away from cheaper lashes because they tend to look almost "plastic" vs. like hair. Also, buy a trial pair, put them on, spend the day in them, take pictures, examine the pictures to make sure you like the way you look, and have a professional put them on for your wedding day unless you are very skilled at it. If I do my own, I'll just end up having lopsided, droopy eyes in pictures. I've also worked with MUAs who didn't know how to put on lashes. This would be a good thing to ensure is perfect during your MU trial. Sorry - I sound so passionate about this, but it can make or break a picture! :)
  • For those who are more experienced with falsies than me -- we are having engagement photos done in about two weeks and I want to wear false eyelashes. I've worn them a few times but would be open to some recommendations on good brands of lashes and glues. Weirdly the ones that have stayed on best for me in the past were the super cheapies you can get at a drug store. I had some Sephora ones and Sephora glue that just did not stay on at all.

  • I never wear false eyelashes, and my wedding day is no exception. I don't like false eyelashes, and fortunately, neither does my fiancee. That being said, I am definitely looking for a great waterproof mascara if anyone has any suggestions :)

I've worn them a lot in the past and I think the best combination of price and quality are from MAC. They're fairly reasonable, come in a variety of more and less natural shapes and sizes, and have always stayed on perfectly well with the Duo glue I believe they also sell. They also sell the tiny, almost individual clusters if you want a more natural look.

  • As I am an eye makeup junkie - absolutely. Please, I wear individual clusters to go out.

My preferred combo is the MAC glue and their clusters or full strips from Ulta. MAC full strips are typically too dense for me, the cheap Ulta version add just enough without the creepy Toddler and Tiara kid eyes.

Not sure which yet since I'm still between two makeup options. If I go darker lip, it'll be strips with less eye makeup. Darker eye, it'll be clusters and give me the liner now. DF prefers the darker lipstick color, so that's probably going to win.

'mac false eyelashes waterproof mascara.'  I wore it on the day my fiance proposed- and I was sobbing and not a bit ran. It makes your eyelashes super long. It's a bit expensive, but it lasts a very long time- and has amazing results that really make your eyelashes look great.

Watch a lot of youtube videos on how to apply false eyslashes. Vintageortacky has a great step by step video.

Also, some of the cheaper eyelashes are better, and I've used a lot of different kinds. Ardell are truly the best and you can get them anywhere. I would also use drugstore eyelash glue. It's better than the expensive stuff. And always allow your glue to dry a bit before applying the lashes.

  • I am, but natural looking ones. I wear falsies quite often and no one ever knows they aren't real. Actually when I wear mascara it can sometimes look more "make-up look" than when I wear fakes.
