wednesday come and chat thread

good morning!

what's going on with everyone?  today is our proposal-iversary!  H proposed 4 years ago today, a brownie in hand.  hopefully he remembers and brings home something yummy.  ;)

I'm wearing boots today.  I'm sad because it means winter is coming, and I'll be living in tights and boots for months.  I am NOT a winter kind of girl.

H's brother posted his senior pictures today.  I can't believe he's going to graduate high school in a few months.  he looks so handsome and grown up!

we're having buttermilk crispy oven "fried" chicken tenders tonight.  thank you, Skinnytaste!!

I already need a nap.

Re: wednesday come and chat thread

  • Yummmm I love Chicken tenders!

Our salmon turned out sooo good last night! H loved it! Tonight we are going out to dinner with his Mom and Stepdad before they move to Charlotte. We are going to a German restaurant and I'm so excited about it. I love German food.

Before that I'm getting my body fat test done. A month ago, I was 1 lb down and 2% decrease in body fat from my previous test which I was really happy about since it put me in the optimal health range...It was around 19.3% total body fat compared to 22% when I started CrossFit. This time I expect my weight to be lower since I basically lost everything in me a week ago but I don't expect to have gained any muscle....probably just fat. We shall see.

The kids are coming into our office today to do a cubicle trick or treating run. They decorated everything and we are all dressing up. I'm going to be a cowgirl lol and hand out candy.
  • Good morning!

Today is busy at work. I have my usual work stuff going on plus I need to review some stuff for a department project and I have 2 other issues that have come up that I need to deal with. One of them is technically my co-workers fault but I need to follow up and make sure that she actually deals with it.

Tonight FI and I are meeting with 2 prospective DJs. One of the companies is already annoying me though and I feel like they are staffed by morons. On the one hand I won $400.00 off a package with them...but on the other hand they are annoying me before I've even met with them lol

I am also wearing boots today (new!), with thick tights and a long sweater. Le sad. I need to get some more tights and leggings, since this will pretty much be my go-to outfit from now until the end of winter.

Tonight we are having whatever we can pick up and eat between DJ meetings. I have not cooked at all this week, it's terrible.

My coffee is getting cold. I did a red lip today and don't want it rubbing off on my coffee cup, but that means I'm not drinking my coffee. Beauty is pain.

  • @cocobellaF happy engagement anniversary!

I'm pretty tired for so many reasons today despite sleeping pretty well. I woke up around 4:30 from a dream quite startled.  I fell off a broom I was flying on H was flying on one too.  I think we were playing a quidditch game.  I also realized when I woke up I never took out my contacts, so my eyes feel all weird and itchy.  They are coming out as soon as I get home though.  H is now sick which is never any fun.  I hope he is better for the weekend but we'll see.  I just want to go to bed.

I also found out from H last night Tuesday before thanksgiving we will be going to Atlantic City to spend time with IL's and SIL and her husband.  That will be nice and fun! November is turning out to be an exciting and busy month.  I can't wait actually.

    Anniversary

  • Good morning, ladies!  I'm in refusal this morning regarding winter and am wearing flats, a skirt and no tights.  I'm cold so I guess I lose and winter wins.  :)

    Happy proposal anniversary @CocoBellaF !

@southernpeach89 - Congrats on the body fat percentage!  That is amazing and one day I hope to join you somewhere in that range.

@lmcooper89 - Good luck with the DJs tonight.  Remeber if you aren't having fun meeting them, they likely won't be all that much fun at your wedding.

@lapeanut1018 - I'm gald the vacation issues worked out for you!

@Peasseblossom55 - I've never been to Atlantic City...how is it?

    ---------------------------

Morning is off to a good start.  I got my morning walk to work in so 5 miles checked off my list for the day.  I'm forming ANOTHER blister on my toes though.  I swear I buy the right shoe size (and break them in) but I think 5 continuous miles a day is a lot for my feet (when I was doing 10 they just up and gave out on me).  Poor little feet will have to toughen up though because I'm determined to stay on track these next two weeks before Mexico.

Speaking of Mexico...anyone know where I can buy a good coverup?  Seems like most of them are either way too revealing (knit or see through) or way to baggy.

I hope you ladies have a lovely, lovely day.

  • @cocobellaf, chicken tenders sound good!

    @southernpeach89, cubicle trick-or-treat sounds fun!

@lmcooper86, at the risk of being obnoxious, I am drinking my coffee. And it is delightful.

    @lapeanut1018, yay for refund!
    ---
I knitted another dishcloth last night. That's it. The sum total of the excitement in my world.

Um, I have church today? And I need to read over about 200 new funding opportunity announcements? Maybe do a little website work. Nope, can't find excitement. I tried.

    But I have coffee.
  • @KeptInStitches Coffee is ALWAYS a reason for happiness.

@minskat30 I feel like we've discussed this before but what shoes are you wearing for walking? Have you gone to an REI or something to try getting professionally fitted?

@southernpeach89 Which German restaurant are you going to? I want some!

  • @minskat30 It's not bad I haven't been in 3 years even though I'm about an 1 1/2 hours away.  I'm mostly excited to see family, and get away for the night too.

    Anniversary

  • @LaPeanut1018 - I haven't gone to an REI but I did go to a professional running store and got fitted (complete with watching myself run on the treadmill).  The shoes they gave me are GREAT for the fact that my feet turn outward a lot when I jog and are also a wider shoes than normal but still don't do much for the my Flinstone feet (flat and very wide).  I tend to get blisters along the sides on my big toe where the shoe is rubbing against it and (most painful) on the bottom of my pinky toes because it curls under the toe next to it when I walk/jog long distances.  Maybe I'll try another store. Did you have goot luck with REI?  My feet are impossible.
  • @minskat30 My dad has. He has really terrible feet too and is constantly dealing with blisters everywhere. He got fitted recently for a pair of hiking boots because he's doing a 4 day hike along the Appalachian Trail next month. The boots he got are amazing! He says he absolutely loves them and hasn't had any problems walking in them so far. They were super expensive but I think it's worth it when you're dealing with consistent long distances and/or sensitive feet. They may also be able to help you with some really good socks too.

  • I'll check it out @LaPeanut1018 ...thank you for the recommendation!  Most days I have five - six blisters going and taking a rest or soaking with Epsom makes them go away for a day or two but they just reappear.
  • Happy proposal anniversary @cocobellaf ! I hope you get some brownies too :)

@southernpeach89 how do they test your body fay perecentage? I don't think I even want to know mine right now

It's another boring day at the office for me. I'm hoping my friend will want to walk after work today, otherwise I need to make myself to a Jillian Michaels video. Every day I tell myself that tomorrow will be the day that my workout routine starts again. I need to get it together. I don't want to gain weight over the winter and then be scrambling to lose before the wedding. I've heard of people getting hypnotized to eat healthier and exercise more and I'm seriously going to look into it even thought it sounds nuts. I have no willpower anymore.

  • @CocoBellaF - Happy proposal-iversary! You should tell me your proposal story! (Brownie?) I've never heard/read it!

@southernpeach89 - OMG, I love German food! There is the greatest German restaurant here. It is the only place I enjoy eating cabbage.

@lmcooper86 - LOL, Beauty is pain..... First world problems.

@LaPeanut1018 - Score on the hotel front! Also, I absolutely love your first kiss photo, and I'm so glad you made it your signature. :)

@Peaseblossom55 - I've heard of Atlantic City but have never been there or known anyone who's gone there, honestly. Is it worth visiting? Or is it just nice to see your IL's?

@minskat30 - I bought my favorite cover-up in Costa Rica. So maybe you should take a trip to CR first, and then go to Mexico. *wink*

    -------------------------------------------

Yesterday I hit my head on the weight bar in our garage while leaning down to pick something up. So that hurts, quite a bit. And my forehead has a lump.

I've realized that I shouldn't even try to tease my BF. He teases me relentlessly, and I normally just joke along and agree with him. Well he set me up PERFECTLY last night, I executed some awesome teasing, and then he just turned it back on me to the point where I just had to walk away because I knew I got my ass handed to me. I just want to win once!

Interestingly, he mentioned a ring yesterday, I think brought on by a tv commercial for jewelry. He said something about when he picks out a ring, and I said "You're not gonna let me help?" and he just said "No." I appreciate him wanting to do it himself, but he is a terribly indecisive person. I don't see it going well for him.

Today is an All Things Pumpkin potluck at work. I am making pumpkin pie in a glass (milkshake), a recipe I found in a cooking light cookbook. I made it for BF and myself last night and it was AWESOME. So far I have seen pumpkin cookies, bread, and pasta. I can't wait for lunch!

  • @LaPeanut1018 -It's in Cumming, the one off of exit 14 near downtown area. I'll have to ask Sean...he is the one that picked it out lol.
  • @Lavenderfields13 -You submerge yourself into this huge water tank and it measures you based on your lean mass (bones, muscle, etc...) that way you can subtract that from your actual body weight and figure out how much of your weight attributed to fat vs. lean body mass. It's pretty cool.
  • @LaPeanut1018 -It's in Cumming, the one off of exit 14 near downtown area. I'll have to ask Sean...he is the one that picked it out lol.
Yay! That's the one H and I went to the night we got engaged! They are just like Villa Europa in Augusta!!

  • @AlPacina I don't find it too interesting but I've been so close to it my whole life.  I'm mostly exciting for family, good food and night is a nice hotel suite.

Anytime we go away we always request a king sized bed and lately we've been considering upgrading our mattress to a king.  It would be awesome.

    Anniversary

  • Hey ladies - I'm working the late shift today - so for the moment, I'm posting and running.

I noticed Groupon had a deal for VistaPrint; I just ordered my Thank You cards from them, wish I would have waited a few more days.  Just thought I'd mention it if you ladies need to order anything.

Nothing really going on; just trying to price out my next Disney trip for either Jan or Feb (leaning towards Jan with the prices).  It feels like a Thursday, but I'm off on Friday, so I guess technically it IS my Thursday.  I'm going to do the whole name-change headache thing on Friday :-) .

  • @minskat30 omg your poor feet! Definitely try REI for a fitting. Unfortunately a lot of stores don't have cover ups right now, but I know Victoria's Secret always has a few online. I usually just wear a sundress as a cover up.  If the cover ups are all sheer or boxy, I would just look through clearance racks for cute summer dresses or tunics.

@lapeanut1018 yay for a refund and possible next vacation!!

Peaseblossom55 Have fun in AC! I actually like it better in off season, so November should be really nice. If you need a place to eat, Continental is an awesome tapas restaurant. I don't remember where it is exactly, just that it is right next to Caesars.  Also, The Chelsea is one of the few hotels that does not have a casino, but has an amazing spa.

lmcooper86 good luck with that DJ, hopefully they're not aggravating once you meet in person because $400 off is an awesome prize.

southernpeach89 aww cubicle trick or treating sounds fun! I wish we did that. The only time we have kids in the office is, bring your kids to work day, and that's in the summer.

CocoBellaF happy proposal anniversary!! And I bake my "fried" chicken tenders all the time, I find them to be juicier that way.

Tonight I have a follow up with my doctor, hopefully I get cleared to drive since it's been almost three months since I have been able to drive.  Then it's housework time.  Our timeline to move in has been extended because we discovered a plumbing issue.  Hopefully it doesn't take too long to repair, because as soon as that is done we can start putting up the drywall, then paint, then do the floors. I think our timeline is now mid-November move in.

    @CocoBellaF Happy proposal anniversary!

@LaPeanut1018 yay for a refund and a trip voucher!

@Imcooper86 I hope that the DJ works out, because that is a good discount.

@AlPacina I hope your forehead heals fast! Also, your BF might change his mind once he starts looking. My BF is the same way, extremely indecisive, and finally just gave up trying to pick it out on his own. But I'm glad that he brought it up!

ETA: Wow, coffee hasn't kicked in yet. I forgot to post my update!

Nothing really interesting going on here. I walked to my chiropractor and back this morning already (0.5 mile each way), and BF is still asleep. I'm trying to get him up currently.

It is super humid today so I was sweating by the time I got there, which almost never happens. And it's also 72 degrees and sunny....what else is new. I wish I could wear cute fall sweaters with boots, but it's too hot here in the land of eternal summer. At least I will get to wear them when BF and I fly back to NY for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

But I am drinking my coffee hot still today.

Today isn't going to be too busy at work; just need to put together some bar charts in excel and put them into a presentation for my meeting tomorrow.

My dad is still recovering from his surgery, but he bought a new truck on Monday. My parents want to tow their RV across the country and move here with it, and the old truck wouldn't be able to pull it over the Rockies. They sent me a picture, and the truck is massive. Guess what I get to drive when I go back? I'm really excited, but also scared, because I learned to drive on the other truck, but have never driven one quite this big. It's mainly the back tires that scare me, as it will be interesting trying to remember that the truck is wider in the back. I found an image on Google to give you guys an idea of the size of the new one:

  • @CocoBellaF Happy Engagement Anniversary! What a sweet proposal story! We should start a thread with proposal/first date stories.

@southernpeach89 Way to go! Your body fat percentage is amazing! Even if it stays the same/goes up a bit, it's still something to be very proud of!

@lmcooper86 Good luck with the DJs tonight! Hopefully you guys find a company that doesn't annoy you.

@LaPeanut1018 That's awesome! Gotta love great customer service. Plus you guys get to start planning your next vacation!

    @peaseblossom55 Yeah for quidditch dreams!

@minskat30 That's awful that you're having such a hard time finding shoes that don't kill your feet! Would wearing a different thickness of sock or lacing the shoes differently help? My feet are really tiny and normally slide around a lot in shoes, even if the shoe fits. I got some shoes at one of those specialty shoe shops, and they laced them differently, and it changed the whole fit of the shoe. It was like magic.

@KeptInStitches Girl, you are a knitting machine!

@lavenderfields13 I hate that rut. I've been there a few times too. I always have to tell myself that you regret the workouts you skip but never the workouts you complete. For some reason, that helps motivate me enough to get to the gym. Once you start working out, it's hard to stop. I hope today is the day you start!

@AlPacina Sounds like you are in fall heaven today!

@speakeasy14 That's exciting! Mid-November will be here before you know it.

    _________________________

Yesterday I waaaay overdid it with trying to eat bigger bites and talk during work-related conference calls. By the end of lunch, I needed my heavy duty pain meds. It didn't help that last night we had a meeting with the wedding venue, so I had to talk even more. I was in a lot of pain last night when we got home. :( Today I'm working from home and am on a strict No Talking policy. So far today I haven't taken any painkillers, and I've been moderately OK. I still need to do my prescription mouthwash though, and I haven't had anything to drink or "eat" today either. The goal is to only take the heavy duty ibuprofen though.

As for the venue meeting, it was pretty productive. I had a bit of an entourage, and they requested a tour of the facilities since they'd never seen it. We came up with linen colors, a timeline for the day, our ideal weather layout, and some ideas for decor and beverages. The venue owner, my FMIL, and my aunt all also convinced me and FI to do an adults-only wedding. We can pay for a babysitter at a nearby relative's house or a nearby hotel for people with kids. It just makes more sense with the size of our guest list and the layout of the venue to do adults only. We may allow 13 and up, but I'm not sure how to politely word that on an invitation... Anywho, not having kids at the wedding other than the flower girls helps a ton with our guest list, so I'm pretty relieved.

Other than that, there's not too much to report. I had to bail on Halloween plans because of my mouth, and FI says he doesn't want to go out without me. We'll probably have a low key weekend. I'm aiming to go back to work tomorrow, but I may just tell my boss to expect me Monday. By Monday I should be (hopefully) back to normal, just with a few sutures in my mouth. It would also be great to be able to eat solid food again by the time I go back to work... would just make life easier. We'll see how I do today though.

@eilis1228 I know that's what I try to tell myself, I ALWAYS regret not doing it but when I do workout I'm so glad I did it. I hope today is the day too!

I wouldn't put any wording on the invitation regarding no kids. Only put the names of the invitees on the envelope and people should get it. Of course you'll probably have the people asking if their kids are invited and you'll just have to tell them politely that no they aren't. If their name isn't on there then they're not invited!

    Edited to fix spelling

  • eilis1228 I hope you are able to start eating solid foods and can talk soon! I cannot even imagine how you must be feeling :(

AuroraRose41 I will gladly trade you my sweater dresses and boots for eternal summer; cold and I do not get along haha

AlPacina yay ring talk!! Boo hitting your head :( I'm such a klutz that I have bumps and bruises all the time (that's actually how I broke my foot).  And an all pumpkin potluck, I bet your office smells amazing.

  • I'm so annoyed this morning. My trainer scheduled a session for 9:30. I showed up at 9:30 and waited around for 25 minutes and she never came. When I got home I texted her and said I had showed up but didn't see her. She claimed she was there the whole time and was waiting for me at the front desk and had looked for me. We have never met at the front desk. There's a bench outside the personal training area I always wait at so I call bullshit on that. I'm so frustrated because I've been working with her for a month and haven't lost any weight and she reschedules my appointments all the time. I this point I just want end seeing a personal trainer but I signed a 6 month contract. I'm hoping I can at least switch trainers but I'm not sure who to talk to about that.

  • @bethsmiles I'd be pissed about that. What a waste of your time, I think she's bullshitting you too.
I'd call and talk to a manager about switching trainers, this one doesn't seem very professional.

  • @eilis1228 - Yeah, I've tried thin socks, thick socks, lacing loose, lacing tight, etc.  One thing I haven't tried is toe socks (those ones with seperate spaces for each toe in the sock).  I'm thinking that might help with my pinky toes rolling under the toe right next to it so when I go look for new shoes I'll look for those too. I'm so sorry your mouth is hurting so badly!  I remember getting my wisdom teeth out and how painful that was (they severed a nerve).  Hugs...I hope you feel better soon.
