Chit Chat

amazingly stupid realization

A few weeks ago I made a post about veils on the attire boards. i got a snarky comment at a bridal salon because my dress was from DB. I must admit I am a bit stuck up and self conscious of what I wear, which is why I originally wanted a designer gown.

after lot of thought that day and amazing knotties comments I truly matured a mile that night. I realized yes I love my dress, from DB, yes it may not be the most high end fabric, but at the end of the day, its just a dress that makes me feel happy and beautiful to marry the love of my life, and that I will wear one day. so at the end of the day who cares if the dress is from DB or Lazaro, if its alencon lace or normal lace, if its bought or rented, all that matters is I feel beautiful, elegant and happy to marry the man of my dreams.

Re: amazingly stupid realization

  • The wedding industry makes us feel that we need to spend oodles of money to have everything be perfect. When I got married the first time, I bought a designer Anne Barge gown. It was gorgeous, but quite expensive for something only worn for one day. So, when I was dress shopping for my second wedding, I refused to spend that kind of money. I spent less than $300 having something custom made by an acquaintance who is a seamstress. I wasn't any less of a bride and I enjoyed the process of having the dress made from scratch.

  • Like Jells said, the wedding industry will tell you that you need all sorts of crazy things that you absolutely do not need. Nobody needs ice sculptures and monogrammed floor lighting. Get the things you absolutely love and if anyone has snarky shit to say about it, it just makes them look bad, not you!
  • Get it, girl. My dress is also from DB and it's SMOKIN HOT on me, so anyone who has shit to say can absolutely suck on my lady-dick. Glad you've come over to the "dark side"!

NB: people with designer gowns are totally cool, too! Live and let live, baby.

  • I searched everywhere for a dress and had no intention of going to DB. I didn't find one I loved anywhere else...and guess where I found it? Yep, DB. For $300. Now I couldn't care less what it says on the label, it's exactly what I wanted for a dress and I love it.

@JaniV123 I remember seeing your dress post and thinking it was beautiful. Work it girl!

My dress was from a local store from a no name designer (no but really, I don't remember), but many, many DB dresses are more expensive than mine was.

ETA: AND! Seriously, you wear it for ONE day. I slashed my dress budget so I could get a bomb wedding band. A friend spend over 2k on her dress and $100 on a band she didn't like and I didn't understand the logic.

PS- I would leave shitty reviews everywhere and also call and speak to a manager about your shitty service at the bridal store. As a business owner, we don't want to turn anyone else when they are making a sale, small or large.
  • the more stuck up you are the unhappier your life is bound to be. Welcome to the dark side. Wear your target Tshirt and walmart socks with pride.

  • @RebeccaFlower, sadly at some of the stores the bitches WERE the owners :/ bad business for them lol

and thanks ladies. I guess being a broke med student on loans, and 7 years with Fi who is the most humble down to earth person has transformed me. Life is more beautiful on the simple side.

PS: I still love me my dream Louboutins, haha nothing wrong with dreaming of high fashion (Fi hinted they arent as expensive as he thought so he might consider getting me a pair for med school graduation)
