I'm usually not one to care about things like this but I think I got a bad impression right after my fiancee proposed to me.  A girl who was with our group (I'm not all that fond of) asked to see my ring about an hour after I had received it.  She placed it on her ring finger and sat back to take a look.  It felt really judgey of her - almost as if she had to see if it was a good fit.  Since then, whenever someone who I'm not close to asks to try on my ring, I play around and say 'No way! Gotta get your own!'.  I've found it as an easy way to blow past the subject and we move on.

If someone asks to see your ring, you stick out your hand.  Not take it off your finger and give it to someone!
