So my bf bought this (CLICKY) as a housewarming gift for his brother, and got one for himself.  It actually shoots salt.  Neither of them could put the gun down, and kept testing it against tin foil so they could see the splatter. It is a neat concept, and I will use it on any spiders I find, but I'm not looking forward to having to clean up salt all over my house.

Usually not, but this year, FI & I went out on Friday to buy a new TV. It wasn't the most fun I've ever had, that's for sure.
3. Share a fun memory from last week's holiday!
FI & I had Thanksgiving by ourselves in the new house I cooked a delicious dinner, we snuggled, and spent some good quality time together.
4. Do you have any leftovers? Favorite thing to do with leftovers? Not many left at this point. I like making giant sandwiches with everything piled up.
5. What's coming up for you in the next month?
Lots of work & traveling for the holidays. Some bitches wedding on the 12th. Maine the weekend before Christmas, then straight to Connecticut, back here, and we're going with some friends to their camp on a mountain for New Year's Eve. (Like, we might have to hike a mile into the woods depending on how much snow there is. I can't wait.)
6. How's the weather? Most of the snow has melted, thank goodness. It's warm(er) today, but it's going to get really cold again later this week with more precipitation. Ugh.

When I have the money, I do.  This year, I won't be buying anything on Cyber Monday.  I was going to buy some jeans at Old Navy (because I have ONE pair left that fit), but jeans are excluded from their CM deal.  Fuckers.  Also, I'll buy some things at Sephora tomorrow because I got a VIB Rouge exclusive coupon.  $25 off of $50.  YESPLEASE.

I haven't in recent years, but I enjoy doing so.  It's mostly a cash flow issue.  I refuse to spend money I don't have or isn't in my budget.

We went to DH's aunt's house for Thanksgiving.  And she had her Irish (from Ireland) niece and nephew over, and the nephew was saying, "I won't let any lads near me sister.  I almost killed the last one."  And he's this huge buff guy.  And it was just funny the way he said "lads."

4.  do you have any leftovers?  favorite thing to do with leftovers?

We had some.  We only brought cookies and muffins back with us on the plane.  They were eaten promptly.  My favorite thing to do with leftover turkey is to make sandwiches, put some velveeta cheese on it, and nuke it in the microwave.  NOM.

5.  what's coming up for you in the next month?

Work.  Lunch date with @suzie211.  Putting up holiday decorations.  Getting ready for Q1 at work, and getting ready for Christmas travels at home.   Nothing new.

6.  how's the weather?  (just can't help it, I'm a Midwest kind of girl!)

Cold, but I'll take cold over cold and snow ANY day.

I know this is NEY, but there are a bunch of us currently planning weddings, so FYI to those ladies: Minted is having a 25% off sale for Cyber Monday, applies to wedding invites/suites and STDs. Can be applied to "Buy Now, Personalize Later" orders too, which is exactly what I will be doing once I get home.

The promo might apply to other stuff too, but I don't think it can be used for Christmas cards or other holiday stuff.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a little while; it was a crazy whirlwind week last week with traveling to NY and trying to fit in seeing everybody in a week. 

1.  do you participate in Cyber Monday?

This was the first year that I have ever done it, but I decided to because I ordered most of my gifts online last year and planned to do the same this year, so I figured why not try to take advantage of the sales? I only got a 25% discount on one gift for BF, but got free shipping on everything that I ordered because of Cyber Monday. 

2.  do you participate in Black Friday or Grey Thursday?

I have participated in Black Friday (getting up early and waiting in lines) in the past, but this year was a bit different. My mother threw out my snow boots last year and didn't tell me, so we had to go boot shopping on Wednesday. Most stores were offering the deals early, and the mall was almost empty, so we did some clothing shopping too. My dad wanted to go out on Black Friday, but we didn't go until about 9 am and still got some good deals on tools and such for him. We refused to participate in any of the Thursday sales.

3.  share a fun memory from last week's holiday!

Can I share two? 

Number 1: BF asked my dad for his permission/blessing to marry me!!!!!!! And my dad was very excited over it!!!!!

Number 2: BF's family invited my parents and me to a "Leftover Thanksgiving" meal on Friday night, since BF spent Thanksgiving with my family this year. His family did make a whole new turkey and some other staples, but the rest was leftover from the day before (still delicious though!). Anyways, BF's family has a Thanksgiving tradition that we were initiated into this year and basically became "part of the family" because we participated in the tradition. BF's family throws the rolls to each other while serving food! So BF took the basket of rolls and threw one each to me and my parents who were sitting at the other end of the table. It started because BF's mother's parents (BF's maternal grandparents) are very proper, and the father's side has good manners but are very easy going and like to have a good time, and I guess BF's sister and brother did that one year to shock their grandparents and it became a tradition. 

4.  do you have any leftovers?  favorite thing to do with leftovers?

Nope . Couldn't take much on the plane back to California with us. But I love making a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich: turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy between two slices of toasted bread. I got the idea from Friendly's years ago! 

5.  what's coming up for you in the next month?

Oh so much. Work should be pretty easy for me, but we have a wedding to go to on December 20 on Long Island, and then we are riding with BF's family back to Upstate NY to spend Christmas with our families. We are staying through New Year's and flying back the weekend after. Oh, and quite possibly a proposal. BF has given me the impression that he doesn't plan to hold onto the ring for very long, but who knows? I just don't want him to do it before the wedding on the 20th, because it would be the first time we would see his family since getting engaged and I think that would be rude to the bride and groom. I know they only get one day, but I feel like having his family congratulate us and see us for the first time on their day would take away from being excited for them. I did communicate that to him a few weeks ago, so hopefully he remembers that. 

6.  how's the weather?  

Well, it was very cold in NY, and we got a good snow storm on Wednesday night! The rest of the week was good apart from being cold. 

Here in Southern California, it is cold (by SoCal standards) at a chilly 60 degrees. It is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow too, which despite the fact that we need it, I am really not looking forward to. Rain here is the equivalent of a Nor'easter in the East. Everyone forgets how to drive and panics.

All of my family and BF's family is in the Albany area, and that's where we flew into/out of!

Such a busy day, back at work!!

1.  do you participate in Cyber Monday? Sort of. Basically, this is the time of year where I take advantage of sales to buy stuff I've been waiting to buy.
2.  do you participate in Black Friday or Grey Thursday? Same with Cyber Monday. If I can get a discount on something I was going to buy anyway, then great!
3.  share a fun memory from last week's holiday! J's aunt and uncle usually host Thanksgiving, about 2 hours away from us. Because of the snow, they lost power. They ended up cooking all of the food at the aunt's mother's house, and then driving two hours to the city, where another aunt and uncle were able to host.
4.  do you have any leftovers?  favorite thing to do with leftovers? We don't have any leftovers. J's OCD makes leftovers very difficult to eat, so we usually don't bother.
5.  what's coming up for you in the next month? Figuring out budget stuff and insurance stuff, and then we're off to Chicago for a week at the end of the month!

Normally no, but I'm thinking of getting a sale laptop next year. This one works for now, but it's not the best. However, I also want to take a trip to Vegas with the man, so... I'm thinking Vegas. Decisions.

Nah, I value my life. I assume Grey Thursday is Thanksgiving? I won't shop on Thanksgiving. Mini-protest. I think stores should close and let their employees spend time with their families.

Well, we DID have leftovers. I kind of single-handedly wrecked them.

Other than Christmas? My first birthday with my boyfriend! I think he might be getting me jewelry... He's been asking a lot of oddly specific jewelry-related questions. Of course, he needn't get me anything and I'd be so happy just to have him with me, but I'm a little teeny bit excited anyway! After this birthday, I'll be closer to 30 than 20... eesh.
