Noooooo to dollar dances. Anything that requires your guests to pay for something at your wedding is very rude, no matter how much people you know say "But it's tradition! Everyone does one!" 

This goes for any kind of cash bars, too. 

My family (and XH) insisted on a dollar dance, but that was a position that I would NOT budge on.

Yeah dollars being thrown around and paying women to do things is better left to a strip club. Not a wedding.

Regarding Ryan, let's just say I have no problem objectifying him. He is a seksay man.

I dislike the dollar dance because I think it's rude to ask or expect guests to open their wallets at a wedding.

Hosted beer and wine is perfect. There is no need for an open bar if you cant afford it.

- Ryan Gosling is sexy
- dollar dances are Ew
- so are cash bars. Host whatever you can afford, but don't have your guests pay for ANYTHING at your wedding.

We love to see engagement photos! Usually when people post photos like that here, they start a thread with the title: "AW! Engagement photos!" or something to that effect. (AW means attention whore, but don't worry, that's a good thing to us).

Thanks @LadyMilil!  Wow, that is awesome!  That makes me feel better, haha!  Ours is only five hours away, so kudos on doing it across the country while in grad school!  Before school started, we booked our chapel, reception venue, and now have our dj and photographer.  I will definitely be doing some heavy planning in between semesters!

Hi @Sugargirl!  Thank you! Your dress is gorgeous and you look stunning!  Such great pictures!  Yeah, that is what we would like.

I also want to pay for my bridesmaid's dresses since being in weddings can be mighty expensive, especially since ours will be five hours away and two of my ladies will be flying in.  I feel as though it is such a struggle to help your wedding party while staying within your budget at the same time.  At the very least, I want to pay for their dresses and hair styles if they want to get that professionally done.  I am very ok if they want to style their hair themselves.

There is a Die Hard quote-along tomorrow and I'm pissed that I'll miss it bc of H's company party.  It's seriously one of my favorite flicks (Christmas or otherwise)
