How was everyone's weekend?

Friday I took my second spin class and didn't die! My tush also doesn't hurt as much. Then we went to our friend's holiday party at Westchester Burger Co. They serve a burger with grilled cheeses for the bun. I had a bite, and I felt my arteries clog.

Saturday we went shopping and ran lots of errands. Then I cleaned and did laundry like a maniac since MIL is coming. After that I decorated the tree.

Sunday, MIL flew in. We hung out and then we took her out to dinner. Then this morning, she managed to blow like 2 fuses at 5am. I have no idea how she did it, and H couldn't get the lights to work again. Then they mysteriously turned on themselves. WTF?

Re: How was everyone's weekend?

  • Your tree is gorgeous!!

I spent all weekend moving and dealing with the DMV, which was about a 50% success. I got my new driver's license, but they need a copy of the actual title to my car sent to them from my bank, not the memorandum title I have, so I can't get my new license plates yet. Since OH license plates expire on your birthday, I have to drive illegally from now until I don't know when. UGH.

Yesterday was spent watching Doctor Who with FI while I packed, then eating tacos off my fine china because I apparently already moved all my other plates. Then we tried to Tetris several pieces of furniture into our cars, with the result that we either have to make yet ANOTHER trip back here (2 hrs each way) just for one piece of furniture, or we get rid of either the cat tower or my great aunt's dresser. Since the lady who lives across the alley from me has like 15 strays she takes care of, we left the cat tower next to her porch in the hopes that she can get some use out of it. And if not, the dumpster for my building is about 10 feet away. Bye, cat tower.
  • Then FI got asked to cover a local protest for work. He was about to say "heck naw" to working on a weekend he's not on call, but he found out it was for Black Lives Matter, which is a cause he really believes in, so he decided to go. I tagged along too but I get really shy at these kinds of events and eventually faded away once things slowed down. But he had a good time covering it!

This is so awesome! I would love to be able to attend one of these, but work has been so crazy :) This is definitely one of my top "causes" right now. I'm glad you were able to attend and see things in person!
  • flutteringinftmyers that picture is too cute! I love it.

Aw thanks! I think it's a pretty good pic of our little fam. He got a treat for behaving (i.e. not nipping at Santa or anyone else).

  • I filled in working a bar shift for a friend on Saturday (and spent most of it passing Morrocan spiced lamb chops and satay with avocado crema...yawn), barely got of the couch on Saturday. Yesterday we visited FI's grandmother in the hospital and went to a hockey game, at which we sat near a drunk guy in a Santa costume who kept standing up and dancing and driving everyone bananas. But they had the tiny hockey players in the break between periods and they're my favourite. Adorable. We lost, of course, but it wasn't the worst loss so we were satisfied, lol.

  • Love your Christmas tree @climbingbrideny!

Our weekend was nice. Friday night I went to happy hour with my coworkers. Came home and just hung out with H the rest of the night. He said something incredibly stupid on his part that led to us sleeping in separate bedrooms but apologized in the morning.

Saturday was spent just lazing around. We went to dinner in the evening and had some awesome food. Went out for a drink after dinner and then home to go to bed.

Yesterday was finally a productive day. I got the house all cleaned and the tree is FINALLY decorated. It's been sitting there with lights on for over a week with no ornaments. Everything was perfect until the dog decided this morning that the tree skirt made an excellent blanket on which to chew his toys...in the middle of the living room. He thinks every blanket is his so until we've got presents under the tree, no tree skirt.

I also got to see my sister's new puppy yesterday! She came over to our house to pick up an extra bed that we have and brought the new little pup. She's an 8 week old Rottweiler and the sweetest, wrinkly little baby. My yorkie looked GIANT next to her but in mere weeks, she'll end up bigger than Fred.

  • I started getting sick Friday afternoon. I was afraid I wouldn't feel well enough for Date Day on Saturday, so DH and I moved it up to Friday night. I only made it through dinner. :( I spent the rest of the weekend on the couch being useless while DH took care of me.
  • Bridesmaid dress shopping!!!! It was a sort of bad experience at David's bridal (We kind of had to go there due to the range of sizes we needed and how many girls I had, small shops were just not cutting it ), but we got through it and the girls ended up pairing up 2x2x2 with dresses! There were three dresses we all loved so they just kind of divided up?

All in peacock. We bought extra dress fabric to make straps for the strapless dress, because nobody I know likes a strapless dress.

  • Your tree is so pretty!

I had a great weekend. We had my bachelorette party and a winery and went out for a nice dinner. We all had so much fun and bought a of wine. I was a little peeved that one of my friends (I was her MOH in September) left that afternoon because she had been asked to teach a class at a dance camp on Sunday (we had our plans way beforehand). She said she wanted to rest Saturday so she wouldn't be too tired Sunday after lunch for camp. Well her and her H went to a Christmas party and were drinking. They posted pictures well into the late night. I know that no one is required to come or to stay the whole time and they can make whatever plans they want, but it hurt my feelings.

  • You win prettiest tree!

I went to NYC this weekend.  On Saturday, FI and I saw How the Grinch Stole Christmas at MSG, and then we were supposed to go to dinner at the Empire State Building but he got a little too drunk and we had to go home lol (someone call Tarpon, obviously he is a raging alcoholic and needs rehab!!).  Yesterday we went to the big tree at Rockefeller, and then went to the Observation Deck at Rockefeller, which I had somehow never done before.  All in all, it was really fun!!

  • Saturday ended up being lazy. Jog with the dog, wrapped Christmas presents, and then wine and Christmas movies.

Sunday I went to a local production of The Nutcracker with my mom and sister. We hadn't done that in years, and it used to be a yearly tradition. The theater is older than dirt so it was an awesome atmosphere for the ballet.

Happy birthday @esstee33 ! Last day at work isn't too shab of a present!

  • Friday was the work holiday lunch, so I may or may not have drunk the equivalent of a bottle and a half of Moscato.  I didn't win any prizes, but I've won twice in the past so I'm good.  It was nice to hear some new names be called in the drawings!   FI and I dropped his daughter off to babysit and went out to dinner after that.

Saturday night I had to shop and take my rings in for their 6-month inspections.  Then we went and watched the Nutcracker.  Loved it as usual!

Yesterday we did some chores, and I watched FI and FSD hang Xmas lights on the roof.   My Xmas shopping is pretty much done, so bring on Xmas day!

  • Our weekend was okay. Friday night we had an impromtu dinner with my parents since they were in town Christmas shopping (they live about 40 minutes out in the country away from civilization).

Saturday I woke up with a cold so I opted out of the Christmas-themed bridal shower that I've been bitching about for a week, but FI and I got all of our Christmas shopping done. Saturday afternoon/night was spent on the couch drinking wine and watching tv.

Sunday we went to my parents' house so FI could help my dad build a new tree stand, and now FI's cold is back with a vengence and he definitely didn't need to go to work today but he won't listen to me.

Overall, the weekend wasn't long enough and I'm in a grumpy mood today =(

  • On Saturday we picked up some Christmas decorations from my IL's house (MIL is obsessed with Christmas and so we got to pick out some decorations/ornaments that she didn't use), and then went and looked at a house we want to buy. We've been on Zillow, etc., but wanted to see it in person and look at the surrounding neighborhood to make sure it was a place we'd actually want to live.

Then we went and got our first Christmas tree together! We both had fake trees growing up so we wanted to have a real one for our first Christmas together.

Sunday, H made omelettes while I made mimosas and we a late brunch, then we split up and did our respective Christmas shopping.

It was a nice blend of lazy weekend and productive weekend, but I slept badly last night so I'm not a happy camper at work today.

  • Weekend was great. My parents drove up on Saturday to visit. I almost made myself sick with worry because its a 7 hour drive and it had been snowing and freezing rain and the roads were aweful. So all morning I was a mess worrying about them on the roads.

They did eventually get here safe and we had a great visit, even if it was much to short. I still can't believe they did the 14 hour round trip drive in the dead of winter just to visit us for a day. They rock.

I'm not really looking forward to this week. FI has 2 overnight flights to do, so he's going to be gone the majority of the week. But I have a week off starting on the 24th, so thats awesome!

  • Everyone's weekend sounds fun and actually productive! Mine wasn't so much on the productive side. My weekend was pretty good though

Friday, we did nothing ha. We cleaned a little

Saturday, we had lunch with my mom at a place called Billy's. We have never been but it turned out really good! Afterwards V and I opened the presents my parents got him because he won't be with me during Christmas. Then we relax and kinda clean.

Sunday, we did nothing and sorta clean. We are just in lazy mode since our semester is over. Well except for V, he has been applying to grad schools.

  • Thanks, @maeday2! Just one hour of work left and I'm freeeee!
  • Ah I forgot that we printed up the envelopes for our Save the Dates, which are going out today!  I think the next 4 months are going to fly by.

  • Good for you for doing spin! I love spin and it's amazing how fast your tushie gets used to it. I haven't been in awhile because spin class is at the same time as another class I love, but you've inspired me to change it up and go back!

My weekend was actually really good. Finished up almost all the Christmas shopping. Did a little cleaning, went to an ugly sweater party (no one got my Darth Vader holiday sweater) and just relaxed on Sunday. I can't wait for Christmas!
  • Our weekend was kind of crazy. Spent most of Saturday no the road and Sunday trying not to get trampled by hundreds of Girl Scouts. BUT! We collected over 5k toys for Toys for Tots. Now, if only my back would stop screaming at me...

  • Saturday sucked as I got into an argument with someone that I happen to work with.  Tried to be civil but she got pretty insulting 2 comments in so I was like, I'm outta here.  Saw her this morning and said good morning and that was it.

I don't know why but it really upset me, so it kind of ruined my whole Saturday and I was up at 4am Sunday morning feeling sad.  Fiance comforted me though, so that was very, very helpful of him.  Sunday I was still a bit down, but much better.

We went to his parents' house to visit for a bit, picked out our STDs, and then went home where we had dinner and watch Bridesmaids (his choice as he's never seen it).  I also made him 7 layer bars so he was happy about that.  We started our Christmas cards too and I think we'll be able to send them out tomorrow.

We were supposed to go to a folk music radio show Sunday night, but since I was still a little bummed and tired from lack of sleep we just went home.

Looking forward to Wednesday since I get to work from home, and I'm off Thursday and Friday.  We're going to the Christkindle Market in Chicago on Thursday, and meeting with a potential officiant on Friday.

  • Our weekend was pretty good:

Friday FI came home a little early and we did invitations. It's a lot more work than we anticipated because of these annoying little ribbons, but we got mostly done.

Saturday we went suit shopping. FI is a big and tall guy so it's difficult to find anything in his size without going to an expensive specialty store but we decided to try this little suit shop run by 1 guy and his wife we heard about. We were surprised that they actually had his exact size and FI even got to choose from a bunch of different suits (they were all really nice material too). We got an amazing deal on a 3pc suit and all of the accessories and actually came a good bit under budget! I've never seen FI with such a huge smile on his face afterwards (he usually gets discouraged and sad after clothes shopping because nothing fits him).

Sunday we just relaxed. We did a little grocery shopping and found a cute, little bakery with delicious cookies.

  • I had a lazy and wonderful weekend! It snowed for most of the weekend, so FI ended up doing "Christmas" on Sunday. Neither one of us are particularly into holidays, it was snowing, the gifts were wrapped, and it'll just be us for Christmas this year (won't be able to go home to visit family), so we went ahead and got it done with. It's early, but we can now spend Christmas day going for a hike or day trip instead of exchanging gifts.

It was really nice and low key. We exchanged gifts, made some cider, and spent the entire day in our bathrobes. I can't recommend a non-Christmas "Christmas" enough :)

  • FI and I had a very busy weekend. Super fun, but I am looking forward to not having any plans tonight.

Friday we went and saw a Klingon Christmas Carol at a small black box theatre. It was really well done! I am fully impressed by all the actors doing all those line in Klingon. Can't be easy to learn. And it was fun to see how they had changed the story.

Saturday the concert band I play in had our Christmas Concert. It takes up my full day, which is a little annoying, but I got to see my family. And I like performing in the band. And I think we put on a pretty good concert.

Sunday we had tickets for the Christmas Carol at the Guthrie (a big professional theatre). The more traditional version. But a friend I had done a show with was in the cast, so that was very cool. And I got to hang out with a bunch of my ladies who I don't get to see enough.

I spent the rest of Sunday just vegging and napping. Watched White Christmas. I'm looking forward to doing more of the same tonight. I have some tv to catch up on since my weekend was so full.

  • I always work on Saturdays and Sundays. So that sucks. We are doing the 12 days of Christmas at work though, which means my boss has an excuse to buy an insane amount of treats for us all. Today's theme is hot chocolate. .. which turned into a table full of goodies.

This weekend (Thursday and Friday) will bw great since I'm taking Wednesday off as well since it is our 10th (dating) anniversary! H booked us tickets to the first available showing of The Hobbit, and we're going out for a nice dinner. The rest of the weekend will be spent lazing about, and going to a coworker's housewarming/game night.
