  • We ran out of coffee at work.
Quit. Now. Go work somewhere where they value you!!!

My random FWP: FI surprised me with a very very nice sweater yesterday. It's seriously the nicest and most expensive piece of clothing I've ever owned (unless you count my wedding dress). I put it on just long enough to get dog hair on it. So I've been plucking dog hair off of my really nice sweater all day. It keeps multiplying somehow...

The kitchen in my new apartment doesn't have enough cabinet space for all of my Fiesta dishes and the new 18 pc Pyrex set my FMIL got me for my birthday.

Now I have to build a shelving unit from IKEA to hold all of this shit.

    :(
  • About a month ago DH watched an online video showing that plants watered with microwaved (and cooled) water died quicker than non-microwaved water.  After that he was convinced that I'm killing myself by heating water in microwave everyday for tea/chai/hot chocolate.  He promptly went out and bought me an electric water kettle.

    This one actually <link>:

I love the thing... it actually works quicker than microwave.  Although, it still doesn't work for heating soup or popcorn.  I still need to use microwave for that stuff, but he feels better knowing that I'm using it a lot less than I used to.

  • And my latest first-world problem...

DH and I bought a 46-inch Samsung smart tv to use as a digital picture frame (we found a good black Friday deal).  We figured that we spent so much money on wedding photos that we want a way to display them all.  And we also have other non-wedding photos in the mix and will continue to add photos to the bunch.  We went with Samsung because it was the only one we found that has an "timer on" and "timer off" feature, where you can have it automatically turn on & off at programed times and you can set it up to do so automatically to photos on a USB drive.  WELL, apparently when you do that, it turns on but puts a message in the middle of the screen saying "hit exit to return to tv" (or something like that).  We really didn't want that message on our "picture frame".  Called Samsung and it's not something that can be disabled or turned off... Fuck.

We did however find a work around.  We have now hooked the tv up to our computer and basically have it running as a monitor.  Then we set up the photo slideshow as the screensaver, so tv turns on with the timer at set time, you see the screensaver flipping through photos, then tv turns off with timer at set time.  It does exactly what we wanted it to (and it's totally awesome), but I really wish it was all included in the tv and didn't have to use up our computer.  And since we don't want to have computer sitting in the living room or see all the wires, the tv is on the wall that borders our office room, so DH plans to drill holes through the wall so the computer can be kept in office and connected to tv in the living room. Way too complicated, but it serves it's purpose. And it is awesome to come home from work to a slideshow of all our greatest memories (it's set to automatically run from 6pm-9pm each night).

And, as a bonus, since it is a smart tv, our new "picture frame" doubles as our access to Netflix & such. And the added bonus of connecting to computer (even though I wish we didn't) means, that we can also connect to iTunes movie downloads, which most smart TV's don't directly allow.

But, definitely a big FWP, when my large screen smart tv doesn't work JUST RIGHT as a picture frame.  It even sounds snooty in my head.
