I came back in just to let you know it wasn't the fucking kids that were the problem. It was the mother and every other woman in my life I looked up to calling me fat and ugly.

UGH blood pressure I really am out of this thread this time. /dramaistarted
Well...I also used to get called fat and ugly and I'm not a red head. I'm natural blonde. Though I've been told I'm there is no way I could be a natural blonde because I'm "too dark" skinned and I don't have blue eyes and you can only be a natural blonde with blue eyes and fair skin. Them the rules apparently.

Though when I say I'm Latina and Native American I get told I'm too fair skinned and I can't really be Latina or Native American. I'm too dark to be blonde or Irish, too light to be Latina or Native. I'm also too tall to Irish because all Irish people are short.

PO: People can really fucking suck.
  • I don't have a dog in this fight. I have been every natural color and every warm-toned unnatural color under the sun, and I've always been frank that my look is built on a web of lies. Makeup, hair color, heels, fancy bras, it's all a ruse!
Even now, I AM a natural redhead, and I dye my hair back to my natural color twice a year. After summer, it's all sun-bleached and disgustingly peachy, and after the winter it's all brownish and ashy. I'm not having that shit. My natural color is a very pretty, bright, coppery red, and I want that all the time.
  • Awww Feliz Navidad is like our theme song for christmas here hahahaha

UO: I HATE Game of Thrones, Will Ferrell, and Taylor Swift.

I also hate that stupid lame ass Christmas Tree they put up in the mall that sings and its light "sing" ugghhhh. People just loooove the damn thing and I wish I could burn it

  • If we're gonna get hobby specific:

When people call themselves writers, as in they say "I'm a writer." But they've never been published. Um no dude. Just cuz you sat at Starbucks for an hour and typed on your laptop does not mean you get to call yourself a writer. I'm always hesitant to call myself a writer, and I have a degree in it and have had multiple poems, short stories, 2 novels, and a memoir published. So BAM.
...ouch. I've been writing since I was 10, so 16 years, daily until recently. The high point in my publishing career is only a short halloween story in the local paper, but I still call myself a writer.

The good news is that you, having been published, get to call yourself an AUTHOR!!!!
This beard talk just made me realize that I have never dated anyone without hair on their chin. Never.
    Yeah me neither hahahahaha
It's different, to me, if you've been dedicated to writing and it's actually something that you do. I mean the douches who crank out like 3 pages of crap and then go around saying that's what they do. When people ask me what I do, I say clinical research because that's my job. Sometimes I refer to myself as a writer but only if it comes up. I don't like the word author. Don't know why, that word just seems lame to me. As I'm typing this I'm realizing how weird I am about stuff.
Ooooooh okay. Yeah, no, I absolutely see the difference. And I mean, if someone asks what I do, I say legal assistant, so I get that.

I feel incredibly differently about the word "author" though. Because it is the exact thing I would love love love to be, and unfortunately I don't see it happening anytime soon.
You can do it! I thought the same thing. I got rejected so many times and failed so many times my parents actually told me to give up. And then out of nowhere I got the call and suddenly I was published.

I'm going to disagree with this.

I'm an artist.  I draw, paint, illustrate, etc.  Am I ever going to have a show in a gallery?  No.  But that doesn't mean that what I'm doing isn't art.  It's just not the bullshit modern art that people are into buying so their friends will think they are intellectual.

I'll stab anyone to death with my Wacom stylus who tries to tell me otherwise ;-)

UO- I hate almost all modern art.
I just explained this in another post but if it's really something that you do, then cool, call yourself that. But not if you're just saying it to sound cool. I've made more money off my paintings than my writing, but I've never referred to myself as an artist or a painter, although I will sometimes refer to myself as a writer. So I'm weird about terms anyway :P

I don't think the ability to make money off something you do dictates whether or not you can say you do the thing on a professional level. Should we not consider Van Gogh to be an artist because he wasn't very commercially successful?

Some people are artists or writers who never want their work to be seen by anyone else. It doesn't make them less of an artist or writer.

This is true. Money issue aside, I mean if it's something you really do, that you really care about it, then cool. Take whatever title you want. I meant more along the lines of posers who are only saying it to impress people or something. To me, that's lame.

I think David Bowie is super creepy and not on a good way.
We're done here. I have a major Bowie thing. I love him.

Hair: I dyed my hair red for years and have just recently gone back to my natural colour, and it's only now that people think my hair is fake. It's crazy, because the "light auburn" I used for all those years is not a colour seen naturally pretty much ever. It did not look real at all. It suited me pretty well because I'm pasty and light eyebrowed, but i never made much effort to pick something realistic, yet everyone assumed it was real. Now, though (and throughout my childhood and adolescence) everyone thinks I colour it, although it's been months since I touched it and it is fortunately growing in matching. But my natural blonde is weird - kinda Barbie yellow, more gold than ashy- and dark underneath because the sun lightens it dramatically, so I guess I get it. But the comments are way rude.

  • Wow, I'm home late again.  Here's mine:

I also hate coffee.  Anything coffee.  Drinks, ice cream, inside chocolates, everything.

I think Walking Dead is the boring-est show on TV.  And the zombie noises creep me out.

LOTR was the most boring set of movies I've ever watched.  Ditto for the Hobbit.  Not sure if we're even going to see the last one.

I super hate it when people are called "redheads" but they're not.  I mean those with brown hair, or maybe auburnish.  All I see is brown.  There are 2 girls at work, one blond (maybe strawberry blond) and the other brown who most of my CW's insist are redheads.  No, they're not.

I have always hated ombre hair.  I think it looks cheap, like you couldn't afford to get your roots touched up.  I also hate super chunky highlights, the ones that don't blend and that are multiple different colours.  As an example:

    image

Sorry to everyone I just offended.  Just stuff I wouldn't do myself.  :)

  • Super late to this.

    I hate cilantro.

I hate chocolate ice cream. I would rather just eat chocolate.

    I don't like most chips.

I agree with the PPs that don't like Journey and Rush. I'll add Stix to that list.

  • Can I also add that I despise Harry Potter.  Wth is the big deal?

And this will make people hate me... I hate when people call a  dog a rescue, when they simply got the dog from the SPCA. When i was growing up, you just said "We got a dog," and everyone assumed it was from the SPCA. (i guess since the puppy mills people have to make a shine a lot on the SPCA, but the term just annoys me.) Please let me hate that word.

I hate seafood. All of it.  Disgusting. My southern relatives don't even know how I am related. "You don't like seafood, muffinman, what about some shrimp?"  Was it fished out of the water?  Unless a cow was going for a swim, I won't eat it.

I hate Ranch dressing. I asked H to pick me up some parmesan peppercorn creamy italian, and he picked me up Parmesan Peppercorn Ranch.  I seriously considered divorcing him, or at least couples therapy. Does he not know me at all?  Lol. If I see anyone put ranch on their salad, I am dry heaving at the other end of the table. It's rotten milk!!!
UGG BOOTS!  Lord, I hope girls realize that these boots aren't cute at all. It makes them look like they have Mastadon feet.  What the fuck gives? For flat shoes, they are ridiculously uncomfortable.  They, also, make your feet sweat so much it smells like a corn chip convention, whenever there is a plethora of teenage girls wearing them.
The band Rush.... omg, his voice makes me stabby, and I will throw Pearl Jam in there too.  I don't get what is it with weird voices, that make bands have a cult following.
I hate the ombre look, as well.  GREAT!  You paid a hundred and fifty dollars, at least, to look like you couldn't afford to get your hair done. WIN!

I HATE Rush with every fiber of my being. HATE. If I'm flipping through the radio stations in the car I will go "UGH" out loud as I change the station.

    HATE.
YES YES YES YES YES YES I LOVE YOU GUYS
I feel super out of the loop. Seriously, who is Rush?
Don't even look them up. Your ears will bleed. Either from the sound of Geddy Lee's voice or the fact that you will stab yourself.
    Really?  Huh.

But they are rescuing a dog.  Whether it's from a shelter or a rescue organization. There are so many rescue organizations that try to save dogs from kill shelters or those that were abandoned by their previous owners. The definition of rescue is: to free from confinement, danger, or evil.

Can you clarify the bolded. Is there a word missing, or a typo in there, because it doesn't make sense.

  • Yeah my dog was literally rescued hours before euthanization by a woman from a private organization (Naked K9 Small Dog Rescue) who flew from Lansing to Seattle to save him. She cared for him for 3 years before I found him and adopted him. Sure I didn't technically rescue him, but he is quite literally a rescued dog.

  • I guess since the popularity of puppy mills, people have to clarify if they got their puppy from the spca.  But, if their puppy is not a breed dog, I would just assume he is from the spca. The word rescue is just annoying. It's a verb. Not a noun. I think we need to come up with a name that makes me less annoyed.  I think catch words should all be run by me, to make sure I am okay with them.

Usually when a dog is rescued though, it's not a puppy. So I think sometimes people have to clarify that it's a rescued/shelter dog to explain why they got an older dog. At the same time, if it is a puppy I tend to assume it's a mill puppy (especially if it's a "designer" mixed breed) the rescue designation does calm the side eye.

I do agree, from a grammatical standpoint, rescued>rescue. Let's just emphasize the extra d.

We bought the bulldog and rescued the other dog.  We are almost shunned for buying the bulldog.  So much so that volunteers at the rescue told us they would be willing to only watch the rescue if we go away.  During the interview process they flat out said "and if you go away one of us would be happy to watch the rescue, but not your other dog".  WTF?

The fact we have a rescue ups our status so-to-speak  Our bulldog is almost look down on because he was purchased.   That part of rescue makes me stabby.  Like its is a status symbol for some people.  Whatever, I love my dogs equally.

Some dogs truly are rescued from death so they are a rescue.

There really isn't anything in between.   You either rescue your dog or you buy them.

H says it tastes sharp and earthy. That must be nice.

I love cilantro so much. I wish I could donate half of my cilantro gene to you.
I'm the same way with the soap thing! I hate it so much, the taste overpowers the whole dish to me ugh.

Also caught up more on this thread, can I just say the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones haters are hurting my heart, haha!

Although I agree with those that say they don't get Big Bang And HIMYM. Maybe I need to watch them from the beginning, hmm.

Ugh that pisses me right off. We got our pup from a moron couple who bought her at a puppy mill supporting store and didn't like that she needed more care than a goldfish. People lecture us and shit because they assume we paid the money and supported the shit pet store. No, asshole, I just pay the vet bills. She was adopted. ETA. I'm all riled up on your behalf. It's bullshit that people judge you and treat you like shit because you bought a dog. There is absolutely nothing wrong with deciding you want/would be a good fit for a specific breed, doing your research and obtaining the dog correctly from a good breeder. If you happened to be walking by a pet store and go "oh hey. That dog has blue eyes. I like blue eyes. Let's get a dog" that's one thing, but I assume you're smarter than that. Obviously adopting is great, but it's not the only good option. I just hate that holier than thou sanctimonious shithead attitude.

  • Pierce Brosnan is my favorite James Bond.

I really dislike strapless dresses and think they're unflattering on most people.

I don't get the way over the top obsession with certain certain actors by girls who like to think they're nerdy - Benedict Cumerbatch, the guy who plays Loki, Dr. Who, and the guy in the b------ be crazy meme. I love you, best friend, but I'm looking at you.

I didn't get Dr. Who. I've seen two episodes, and I thought it was dumb.

I hate coffee.  Smell, taste, everything.  It's so gross.

I hate rap music, especially female rappers, and especially Iggy Azalea. I hate the way she pronounces words.  (Or I should say doesn't pronounce them.)  I hate rap so much when a song comes on where I like the singing part but hate the rap part (e.g. Dark Horse - I like the Katy Perry part, hate the Juicy J part), I will change the station when it's the rapping part, listen to another station for 30 seconds or so, and then flip back to catch the rest of the song after the seeing starts again.

And on that note, I hate songs where there's a rap section stuck in the middle!  WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO AND RUIN A GOOD SONG?!?!

I don't get why people love Ryan Gosling so much.  I guess he's decent looking but he's not that hot.

I really don't like Harry Potter.

And a REALLY unpopular opinion: I see no problem with getting a dog from a breeder and H and I will likely do so when we get a pet.
