Re: Black wedding dress

  • Remember that its your day and not to let people tell you otherwise. i personally would not do a black dress but i would not judge another bride for what she wants to do.

  • @ddoane I found the picture on Pinterest, and it appears the dress comes from a knockoff Chinese reproduction website. There's no way it's $30.99! I found a similar dress on Net-A-Porter, but I'm sure it's pricey.

  • I just wanted to say that this thread inspired me to just go for a purple wedding dresses!!

I was originally resinging myself to white with some purple details or maybe a nice lilac that's almost white but purple-ish, but then I saw all the fancy black gowns and searched "purple gown" without the word wedding on pinterest and omg the pretty dresses!!!!

So, @hellohkb, you wear your black and I'll wear my purple! :)
  • @princessofgenovia Post some pictures of ones you're looking at!! *squee*

  • @princessofgenovia‌ I love the 2nd one! Also I say get the dress you love....white,black purple, polka dots....it's the ONE day you can do whatever you want
  • As long as the bride does not wear a dull black funereal dress, even older and traditional people should see, stunning formal wear, like a tux.
  • I also wanted a black dress, but couldn't find one that I fell in love with. I thought the dresses available in my local shops looked to promish. Then I came across a picture of the dress I purchased. I probably looked at a 1000 pics of dresses but kept coming back to this one dress. Decided to find a shop and try it on and luckily a local shop had it. It's the only dress I tried on and absolutely fell in love....yes its mostly ivory...but it has the black that I was looking for and I feel absolutely gorgeous in it. I also might add a black lace bolero.
  • @princessofgenovia Tumblr introduced me to Elie Saab's dresses and I am just totally utterly in LOVE. Those are all stunning gowns. Omggggg.

And for the millionth gazillionth time, it is totally okay to wear a black wedding dress, it is not inappropriate, it is not funereal, it will not hurt anyone, etc. etc. etc. My husband wore a suit to a funeral--was it inappropriate of him to wear the same exact color and style suit to our wedding?
