Monday!!

Hi girls!

I'm off today so I'm excited to hang out with those of you that haven't left for exciting adventures yet!

My exciting adventures of the day are all of the house variety: we are getting a new water heater for our sink/dishwasher in the kitchen (it's a weird feature of our house but it broke and it's covered under the home warranty and it does keep our kitchen water hot lol) AND we are having our chimney sweeper out to clean the chimney so it's not flammable anymore and he will also clean out the dryer duct cause it came in a package haha.

Oh and we made these yesterday:

Re: Monday!!

  • @Blue&White I already told you this but I love your winter frames!

DH is coming home today from hunting and he got a buck! That means meat forever!!! Around 3:30 I have to go get my blood drawn again to make sure my HCG levels have gone back down to zero. I'm pretty sure that's what we will see since they were only at 9 when I got my blood drawn last week.

Then I'll go to CrossFit and workout like a crazy person since I didn't work out all weekend. Then I'm making chicken and rice casserole tonight because it's easy.
  • good morning, happy Monday!!

@Blue & White - I like those winter frames!  very cute.

@southernpeach89 - what do you do with all the deer meat?  deer tastes very gamey to me.  I can even tell when my mom tries to sneak it in spaghetti sauce.

H and I both had a long night of no sleep.  I think I finally nodded off around 3 and I was up at 5, so today I am tired and a bit grumpy.  I walked across the street to try the new Starbucks on campus.  I ordered a cappuccino and it is BAD.  but I spent $4 on it, so I'm drinking the darn thing.

today is H's only day at work... I am so jealous!  and I can't believe Christmas is THIS WEEK!
  • @blue, pretty frames!

@southernpeach89, woo! How do you process it? When we get venison, we usually grind it 50% with beef and substitute it into recipes (I suppose this reply applies to @cocobellaf as well).

And I feel bad for lousy coffee.

I didn't sleep well either. FI and I are running in to work because we both have so much we have to get done this week and not nearly enough days. When I know I can't sleep in, I don't sleep because it's like "must not sleep cannot sleep in what time is it must not sleep."

I have work today, tomorrow, and Friday this week. Maybe FI gets tomorrow and Friday off? Cross your fingers that all goes well for him today!
  • @Keptinstitches and @CocoBellaF -We love the taste of venison and we just get it processed normally. Sometimes DH will get jalapeno cheddar sausage with it which is soooo good!
  • @cocobellaf she's gonna make drunk deer chili and then have a southerner get together where she and/or her sis also make peach cobbler and shrimp and grits. The date? Uhhhh I dunno. Whenever peach and shrimp seasons coincide.

Also @southernpeach89 I definitely saw pics of you on your crossfit page this weekend so the fact you weren't even there is awesome :)

  • @Blue&White Yea those pictures were from the previous week I believe. We were in Augusta all day Saturday and then Sunday they are closed so I just chilled on the couch with Maddux and snuggled away.
  • @twodimes I definitely lost in my league lol. But I will take 4th. That's semi respectable!

  • Good morning lovely ladies!  H and I are working this week...boo. I'm really looking forward to Wednesday (I have a half day and H has off).  We are driving to my sister's for Christmas and I'm super excited to give her and my BIL their gift.  They are going to flip out over it (its really, really nice but I don't want to post it online just in case...I'm being paranoid).  They've done so much work with us and with our new house so they deserve something grand and something grand is what they shall be getting.  :)

@Southernpeach89 - Do you cut the buck up or does someone do it for you?  I'd have no idea where to start in cutting up the meat.

    @CocoBellaF - Why no sleep?

@Blue&White - Cute, cute, cute frames!

  • @TwoDimes and @minskat30 - no idea!!  I think probably for me it was hormonal...  but H?  no clue!  normally he sleeps like a log!!
  • @minskat30 We have someone do it for us. DH's family has a hunting property in South Georgia so there is a processing plant nearby that his uncle goes to. They do a pretty good job. My uncle does this himself in South Dakota so next time I see him I'll have to ask more about it because I'm not sure where they start either.
  • @Blue & White - Those frames are super cute!

@southernpeach89 - I've never had deer but have always wanted to try it. How much meat do you get from a buck? I'm curious!

@CocoBellaF - I was JUST saying to FI that I don't feel like Christmas is this week. There's no snow here and it was so bright and sunny yesterday that it felt like fall. But then today I ripped off a page on my weekly planner to get to this week and now have "CHRISTMAS VACATION" staring at my in all caps lol soooo that might change my feelings!

@TwoDimes - Good luck! I hope you win!!

    -----------------------

This weekend was too busy. I wanted to stay in bed this morning! I'm tired enough that I ditched tea and got a coffee this morning...ruh roh!

Friday night FI and I were both exhausted so we sat on the couch and watched tv and I snoozed. I tried to wrap a few gifts but I had super crappy tape and there was no point.

Saturday was pretty packed. Dress shopping with my BMs, who all found dresses that they liked. My sister was away this weekend so she couldn't come, but I got a picture of the other 3 girls in the dresses they chose, holding my sister's dress on the hanger beside them; the dresses all look great together and I'm really pleased. FI came and met us as we were placing the orders and took us all out for lunch because he is nice. Then FI and I went to have a second look at a couple of houses, which ended up being a bust. A cardboard box is sounding pretty good right about now. Then we had to run a couple of errands and didn't get home until about 6:30. Saturday night we hung out and watched the hockey game and I wrapped our gifts for his family.

Yesterday was church and then I had to go straight back downtown to do a quick grocery shop and bake all afternoon. We have Christmas dinner with my friends tonight and I am in charge of cookies. I somehow got everything baked and was able to do a little bit more wrapping too, but it was a late evening.

I don't care that I'm tired because I only have to work today and tomorrow and then I'm off for a week and a half!! We close over the holidays and I am sooo looking forward to some time off. Friends Christmas is always fondue, so tonight I get to eat a LOT of cheese and cookies and we're doing a gag gift swap and play CAH and it is going to be excellent!!

  • @lmcooper86 -Last year we got about 30 lbs of venison that lasted us for 2-3 months. It was an average sized buck. The one DH got this season is probably the same size.
  • @lmcooper86 - I just bought our tickets for the whale tour in San Diego for our trip over New Year's...  NOW I'm definitely in the holiday spirit!!  actually, I've been in the holiday spirit.  okay, I've been in the holiday spirit since Nov. 1, but now I'm extra jolly!  what kind of cookies did you make for tonight?

  • I am sooo tired today. I feel like the weekend went by way too fast. I did some Christmas shopping Friday afternoon, Saturday & Sunday. I had to make sure I had my gifts for my employees ready for today. I got everything finished yesterday and then totally forgot to bag them all so I was up late last night doing that. Then I had to leave the house early this morning because I forgot the Dunkin Donuts gift cards for some of them! I'm a mess. I'm not into Christmas this year.

My mom said not to get her and my dad anything this year but I feel bad. I was going to get them each a really small gift and then get them a GC to a restaurant. I got my mom some lotion and I have NO idea what to get my dad still. He's super difficult to shop for.

It's supposed to be almost 60 here on Christmas!

  • @southernpeach89 - I love me some ground venison tacos!

@lmcooper86 - Can I PLEASE be your friend? Fondue and CAH are two of my favorite things ever.

    ----------------------------------

Friday night I took my BF's SIL to the Nutcracker ballet in downtown Portland..... It was okay. Compared to Seattle, the cast was pretty weak. And the last dance was done by the Sugar Plum Fairy and some guy instead of Clara and the prince. And there was no Russian dance.... I didn't like it. But his SIL loved it, and I'm so excited I got her in a dress! She works at a prison, and never goes out anywhere.

Saturday I woke up first thing, about 7 am, and started cross stitching. I did 13 HOURS on saturday, holy hell. BF's brother was over, and then our friends with an 11 month old son came over. They all played Magic for a while, while I stitched, and all of a sudden I'm hearing BF's brother freaking out and throwing F bombs like crazy. Apparently my BF made a joke about him stacking his deck, and the brother took it seriously and told him he should punch him in the face for saying that, then escalation, then game over and brother went home even though he was planning on spending the night. He didn't even say bye to anyone and slammed the door on his way out. My door. He's fucking 30 years old.

Sunday was just a repeat of Saturday, but with only 10 hours of stitching. I really don't think I'll be done by Christmas. This is SO LAME. I've been working on it for 3 months, and I'm SO CLOSE, but it really just takes forever. Nothing wrong with how I do it. It's just a freaking slow process. But, I got through some more Criminal Minds and REID GOT A HAIRCUT and it's SO FREAKIN HOT. I haven't had a crush like this since Jim in the first few seasons of The Office.

  • I've been dealing with really bad nausea all weekend (I checked--not pregnant), and it's not getting much better today. And we're dealing with irritating job stuff for J; his job isn't in danger, but there's this huge shake-up that's going to happen and he already hates his job enough as it is.

  • @alpacina Reid is amazing. I'm glad you realize that too lol. H is actually pretty glad Dr Spencer Reid is fiction because well there'd be competition!

  • @phira gluten. The answer is always (well usually) gluten. Or salmonella. Or E. coli. But god forbid c diff because that is the pits. Seriously though most people I know with UC have concurrent gluten deficiencies. I hope you're feeling better soon

Blue & White yay for a new (and free!) hot water heater!! Those frames are adorable!

southernpeach89 fingers crossed that your HCG levels are back to zero!

lmcooper86 I know it is frustrating, but you'll find a house soon!  When we first started looking, it was a good year before we found anything we liked.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find something soon!

I only have off Christmas eve and Christmas day, so coming into work Friday is not going to be fun.

I spent all day yesterday making signs for Christmas gifts.  I love making crafts, but after making 10 signs, I'm done.  Tonight is cookie making night.  Tomorrow night is Christmas with my mom and siblings.  Christmas Eve is with my bf's family.  Christmas day is with my extended family.  Friday is back to work then Christmas with our friends. Then Saturday is Christmas with my dad.  I guess I'll be sleeping after the new year.

    *I can't spell.

  • @alpacina I am now binge watching criminal minds because of you. Thank you.

  • @blue You mean, too much or not enough gluten? I've been tested for celiac every single time I've had a new gastroenterologist (so, four times now).

  • Blue & White I only took pictures of two of the signs.  The beach one is for my bf's parents and the family one is for his grandparents.

Oooo ask me! First you field dress the deer (remove major organs, let it drain out as best you can), then you hang it from a hook in your barn or shed and let it drain some more/rinse out the inside with a hose or bucket of water, then you cut the skin off, then you take a flame to burn off any random hairs that may have stuck to the meat, then you start temoving the cuts of meat from the carcass and discard the rest. With the cuts you can grind up the fatty parts and not good steak parts and use the rest for deer roasts or steaks. IMO the best parts about having someone else process it are to have them make fancy sausages for you and also every time I've had to process a deer I've ended up cutting myself...and not cutting myself with a really sharp knife is nice.

I'm hanging out at H's house waiting on his sister. We're taking her kids to the mall to visit Santa. I also want to scope out their Target and Macy's for some post Christmas sales. Our dog has discovered that there are feral cats living under the ILs porch so now she's obsessed with guarding their one exit...I swear she just wants to be their friend. Maybe....

I don't know what our other plans for the day are. H and his dad are installing a new sink for my MIL's Christmas gift. I've mostly been taking it easy. Thursday I wasn't feeling 100% and the ickiness turned into an awesome ear infection. We ended up at a 24 hour clinic on Saturday night because I couldn't stand the shooting pain in my ear anymore so now I'm on antibiotics and numbing drops for my ear. Luckily the pain has started to go away finally and the pressure in my ear has started to reduce but I'm still having a difficult time hearing some things especially if m multiple people are having conversations around me.

  • @Blue - I don't feel bad about that one bit! One of my favorite things about this weekend was BF sitting down and watching an episode with me, and Rossi says something like "He stabbed her with an arrow instead of shooting her with it. We all know what that means." and BF was like, "What does it mean?" and I got to explain how the arrow represented the UnSub's penis, haha.

@LaPeanut1018 - How terrible about your ear! I get swimmer's ear really easily and if it lasts all day I'm incredibly miserable. I hope you start feeling back to normal soon!

  • Holy moley @LaPeanut1018 !  That sounds like a lot of work.  I'm also sorry about your ear...ear infections are terrible. :(
  • @CocoBellaF - Fun! I remember you posted about Christmas decorations right after Halloween and it made me sad ;) . For tonight I made sugar cookies (I made a ton of dough about a week ago so that was already done), ginger chocolate cookies, and these almond lace cookies that have orange and rum and a LOT of butter in them. They're a bit of a pain so I only make them once a year for fondue night because I know how much my friends love them; I'm pretty sure I might be uninvited if I didn't bring them lol. And I made a molasses cake that gets cut into cubes and tossed in icing sugar.

There is absolutely nothing healthy about what I'm bringing!

@AlPacina - Yes, but you would have to come here for the fondue.

@speakeasy14 - It's just annoying because our plans have changed so many times. Every time we thought we were on the right track it's turned out to be wrong in some way. It's created some tension between us which makes me really sad. We actually had a pretty heated "discussion" about it yesterday; it was all fine in the end, but I was frustrated to tears at one point. Major suck.

@LaPeanut1018 - WOW that sounds like a ton of work. I would totally have someone else do it, although it would be cool to try. Also, your description of butchering a deer followed by your wedding picture made me giggle...major contrast!

  • @phira usually too much gluten is the problem but hmm your bloodwork would likely not lie. I just want you to be better!!

@speakeasy14 love them!! I wanted to make one for my sis for her wedding and totally haven't yet lol. She's been married almost 2 years lol

@lapeanut1018 ew ear infections are the worst. Don't forget your yogurt/probiotics if the antibiotics are oral! Brought to you by the girl who is now scared of antibiotics lol

  • @Blue & White those frames are so pretty!!!

I have off of work today. I slept in and need to run a few errands this afternoon.  I only need 2 more gifts.  Yay!!! My weekend was crazy 4 shows of A Xmas carol.  It went really well we sold out almost all of the shows. It was so much fun, it's even more fun because I do the show with my niece, such great memories.  I wish I didn't have to work at all this week.
