Thanks Boob!

I've mentioned before that there are two owners of my company. They are brothers. One brother is extremely intelligent, and I enjoy working for him. The other brother...not so much.
The other brother is sloppy in his work, makes constant mistakes and sends out emails with tons of grammatical errors. It's embarrassing. He's the president of the company! Use motherfucking spell check!

Other brother emailed THE TOP GUY at our largest account. His name is Bob. And he called in Boob in an email.

Twice.

Re: Thanks Boob!

  • At first I thought this topic was going to be about your boobs, when when you started with "I've mentioned before that there are two owners of my company." that didn't do much to alter my original thought...

    THANKS BOOB!
  • What a boob!

  • THANKS OBAMA.
  • Epic fail. Maybe it was auto correct and he types "boob" a lot.

    This is entirely possible.
  • I had a Communications Law professor who repeatedly fucked up his PowerPoints with "pubic relations." They should hang.

  • I've had SO many bosses that send out horribly text-speak-laden emails full of improper grammar and spelling. They'd generally blame it on "The Blackberry keyboard is really small!", but still, if you're sending an email to your employees AS WELL AS your superior, your spell check that shit.

MY emails should not look more professional than YOUR emails.
  • Every year we do a fundraising campaign for the food pantries of some of the charities I work with. More than once I've seen someone accidentally write "panties".

There was also a senior VP (she got laid off last year) who would say rude things about the clients in internal emails, then accidentally forward the entire email string to the client. Ugh.

    Holy crap.
  • Sounds like something my owner's son would do.  Well, that is if he would actually answer an email.   Right now I have 2 months of emails he hasn't bothered to look at, let alone reply.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Yeah. It happened with our biggest account, located in Boston, shortly after the bombing. She was bitching at me for not having an answer to something, so I let her know that I had just asked the client and was hoping to have an answer soon. A day or two later she sent another email complaining about how long it was taking. Eventually she forwarded the entire string to our main contact, asking if he could please help us get the information we requested from Jim. Client reads all the way down the email string and says, "I'm sorry it's taking Jim so long to answer, but he is also the leader of our Emergency and Disaster Response Unit and he's been a little busy."

And the Asshole of the Year Award goes to...

  • One of my colleagues once sent a letter to another attorney named Shotenstein.  Except the salutation read: Dear Attorney Shitenstein.

He realized the mistake when he looked at the photocopy later that day and had to run to the Post Office and beg them to give him the letter back.  Fortunately, small town and they knew him, so they did.
