Why would I attend some playing dress-up redo? Even if you paid for my transport and hotel, you can't cover my time.... and this would be a GIANT waste of time.

It honestly depends, but I really enjoy weddings. Most of my friends who are getting married are old high school friends. Most of them get married "back home." So it's more like a 2-hour plane ride than an 8-hour drive...

And yes, it all depends on how close to them I am. I'm less likely to drop a good $300 for plane tickets and a wedding gift on an acquaintance or semi-friend.

I wouldn't go nowhere nohow for the do-over of my supposed "best friend" who apparently didn't want to include me at her actual wedding, but somehow thinks offering me a consolation prize of a game of dress-up 8 hours from home is going to make me happy.

I really wish I read through the post before voting.

 I'm sick of these PPD posts. What the hell is it about weddings that makes people think they can have a re do? If it was that important to you to have your family and friends at your destination wedding then you would have invited them. Or you would have had a wedding at home for them to all attend, if they couldn't make it. I mean, do you have multiple graduation ceremonies? Or baptismal ceremonies (if applicable)?

If you're getting married, unless you're some 15 year old kid who needs parental consent, then you should be mature enough to make mature decisions, and this includes accepting the fact that once you're married - that's it! There's no such thing as  having a bigger, better wedding unless you got divorced.

OP does your friend know that you are already married?

If we were besties and I already knew you were married, I *might* attend your PPD if I had the PTO days and money to spare.  But, I would decline to buy a dress, and accessories, and pay to have my hair and make up done in order to be a MOH in your fake ceremony.

Go ahead and have a party, an At Home Reception, whatever.  But please do not lie to everyone and pretend you are not married, then have a fake ceremony and a wedding party.  That ain't right.

So why does it all of a sudden "mean the world" for your best friend to be there for a fake re-do, but it evidently didn't matter to you at all if she was there for when you actually got married at the first destination wedding?

And if I read that right, this fake re-do is ALSO a destination wedding?!?

(Oh, and to answer the original question - I wouldn't travel five minutes to be a fake MOH for a fake re-do, let alone eight hours.  I have better ways to spend my vacation days.)

I personally am not on the PPD hate train, I don't care as long as people are upfront and honest about it. FI and I flew 3 hours to attend a PPD in Nashville and I would have been less than thrilled if I found out after what I was attending. A lot of what determines what we go to is who is getting married (or "married" in the Nashville case), how close we are to them, whether or not both of us knows them, and who else we know is attending. We were willing to fly to that one because it was mutual college friends of hours so it was like a mini college reunion for us and because... Nashville.

I think the problem is a lot of people are not honest. And it's kind of stupid to redo your wedding when you have only been married a short time. Have a party to celebrate your marriage, everyone loves a party, but there is no reason to have bridesmaids when you are not a bride, you're a wife.

Also, people do it for selfish reasons, to get more gifts, because they didn't get the "traditional" wedding. 

Also, some people don't mind cash bars, doesn't mean it's not rude.
