Pinterest

I can't stay off of it! It's the best and the worst thing when looking up wedding planning. Has anyone gotten any cool ideas off on Pinterest that you are incorporating into your wedding?

Re: Pinterest

  • That's where I saw to hang a little picture of my dad from my bouquet.  I also got my manicure idea from Pinterest.  A lot of Pinterest ideas are crap...the bridesmaid duties, bridesmaid gift suggestions...
  • Pinterest is kinda shitty. My ideas come from my brain and one picture I saw in a Martha Stewart mag

  • This great rustic chic wedding look is all over Pinterest, but I think gravel and feathers is going to be all the rage this year.

Pinterest was good for floral/centerpiece inspiration and my extra cheesy programs.

  • I admit, I love pinterest and have a serious addiction. I have like 9000 pins in my wedding board, it's a little embarrassing.

  • I made a board of hairstyle inspiration and sent them to my hair person. I think I also found a pin about sealing your invites with a clear mailing label with a scroll printed on it.
  • I use it more for recipes and hair/beauty stuff.

  • I got centerpiece inspiration and used it to keep track of accesories I liked before I settled on one.

  • There are a billion trillion bad wedding ideas on Pinterest, but I did find some decent stuff for inspiration. You just have to be prepared to scroll, scroll, scroll and find that one diamond in the rough.

Check out this thread for some fun and laughs:

  • I love Pinterest. It has all sorts of pretty pictures, art tutorials, design stuff, recipes, etc. but for wedding stuff I don't really look to it very much for inspiration. I admit that I have a sizable wedding board, mostly because pretty pictures and I like flowers, and that I took some photos to give the MUA an idea of what I like for makeup and hair (I didn't like the results Google images gave me). That's basically it though.

  • I've found it most useful for flowers. I don't have my heart set on specific type of flowers, just a color scheme and a general "look", so I pinned about 15 bouquets to show my florist and am just letting her roll with it. (Within my budget, of course)

That's what I used it for. I'm pretty good at designing decor and picking out dresses, but I don't know dick about flowers.
  • I have a lot on my board, but these are my fave inspirations/ideas:

OMG My SIL would have killed for those boutonniers!  Koozies - not so much, but those boutonniers are beyond awesome.

I learned yesterday on Pinterest that the green cap on your parm cheese jar fits mason jars perfectly.  I don't have those things all over my house but my baking soda is no longer in a box.
  • Koozies are because FI brews beer, so it fits our style. We're thinking about putting bottles of one of his brews in the koozies (root beer for the kiddies). Instead of saying "to keep your beer cold," we're going to put "to keep your drink cold." That way it's more universal.

Meh. Pinterest itself isn't "shitty," it's just a repository of photos and links. That's kind of like saying the internet is shitty. Yep, there are lots of shitty things on the internet, but there's also a lot of good information and interesting websites. Some are bad, some are good. No different than any magazine or website. Some people have terrible collections of photos, some are beautiful.

Just keep in mind that you might be looking at staged shoots that aren't real weddings, and that something that looks great in a picture may not be at all functional or achievable in real life. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by images, or by other people's work.
