Commitment Ceremony

I don't really get it. Get married or don't. I don't understand why the need for a straight, young couple to have a commitment ceremony.

I understand the idea of a commitment ceremony but I also don't really see the utility of it? Sounds like they might want the whole wedding thing without actually tying the knot!

I would attend. I've heard of far more ridiculous reasons to throw party (4-month-old celebration complete with registry anyone?). I agree with others that they should keep it small and not do a registry. I'd go and I would get them a small gift. Regardless of what they call it- if they are committed to one another, I support that. I'd celebrate with them just as I assume they celebrated with others.
