Marry Me Today (TK show)

Did anyone see this on FYI network? The guy proposes then asks her to get marry that same day because he has already planned and set up the entire wedding. So the guy/ groom worked with Liliana from The Knot to plan this entire wedding in one week based off the bride's TK Inspiration Board. (I didn't know there was such a thing?) They basically set up the entire ceremony and reception to look exactly like all the stuff she pinned, and he even had to pick out her gown, which was terrifying because her boards had every different style possible. Honestly, I feel like the only reason they did this was so they didn't have to pay for the wedding.

But anyways, she said yes. She didn't really like the dress (her DDs were falling out of it) but they had a seamstress on hand to add straps and make it do-able. The skirt was very full so it didn't really need to be fitted. They had about 8 wedding party members and 50 guests. It was at a vineyard and the decor came out amazing. Then TK gave them a honeymoon too.

I can't help but wonder if she will have a bridal shower and stuff at a later date. Since she literally was engaged for 6 hours and didn't get to enjoy being engaged at all, before she was married.

  • I haven't watched it but that sounds interesting. FI and I watched a Canadian show with a similar premise in which the groom does all of the planning (even picking out the dress) and the bride isn't allowed to know what he's done before the day of the wedding. I think they do this for a $5000 budget boost or something? FI likes to yell at the grooms on that show.

  • It sounds like an interesting premise, but I don't know if it's exactly doable.  My FI has never been to a wedding, so I feel like he would have been lost, and a few weeks back there was some discussion on how a lot of things get pinned on pinterest just because they look pretty not because that's exactly what is wanted.  I feel like that could happen with the inspiration board too.

I hope she doesn't do a retroactive shower or anything.  That would be kind of tacky.

  • How do they manage to do that without a license? Most states have rules about showing up and applying together for the license--and there are waiting periods! I'd have serious questions about either's ability to give full consent given the premise.

I was wondering that too because my state has a 3 day wait. But doesn't Vegas have no wait? So maybe theirs didn't have a wait and they just signed it before the ceremony? They were in CA I believe.

  • Vulviepop - It was Rich Groom Poor Groom, modelled after the Rich Bride Poor Bride show.  I preferred the Bride version but didn't like the Groom's one.

As for this show, I'd hate this.  I loved being engaged, showing off my ring, looking at dresses and terrible wedding magazines.  I wouldn't want to miss out on that, though I was done with it after the year of being engaged.
