Met with Brianna from Beauty by Bri. She was very good on emails. Loved her in person. Booker her for hair and makeup. Went to Magianno's for dinner- was good but not special. And was a bit too laced up for us. Went to McMullan's Pub on Tropicana by the Orleans. Absolutely what we were looking for. Awesome food. Space was perfect- we were looking for fun casual feel. The owner, Brian McMullan, was so gracious- we are getting married in July 2016 so we are a ways off. Showed us the whole space and explained it all.  Decided not only to do reception there, but ceremony also. Drago Sisters for cake/ cup cakes. I had a list of 4 places for this. After here, fiance said we were done. It was all delicious. Doreen the owner was super helpful and very nice. By chance Bri mentioned her sister had Wedding Wagon marry her and they loved it. Talked to them and booked them. So we have everything booked!

We did look at 3 chapels. This was we thought we wanted. First did not like the neighborhoods they were in. Graceland was too small- we will have about 50. Las Vegas Weddings was pretty, but reception area was tacky and expensive and neighborhood not good. A Special Memory Chapel was nice as well. If were to do a chapel one that would be it. But our reception was on other end of town so did not want guests travelling that far. And again neighborhood. We are getting married at night so that was a consideration.

  • Sounds great! Fiancee and I are doing a scouting trip in May so this is helpful.

So you had 3 other bakeries booked but just did Dragos and nowhere else? What else did you sample?

Where are you gonna get married with the Wedding Wagon?

We were supposed to go to Freed's, Retro bakery, and Sugar Factory. We went to Drago first. And it was real good, good prices, and fiance said he didn't see a need to go on. So are going with them.

We were deciding between the Sign and place we are doing cocktail reception- McMullan's Irish Pub. I have made a ton of decisions so left in to Troy. He wants to get married in the pub, which I am totally fine with. Don't have to worry about weather and tourists now! And we LOVE the pub.

Talked to Wedding Wagon this am and booked them. So we are completely done with bookings. Just need to look into room blocks now.

All I can suggest is plan, plan, plan. I was glad I eliminated some things before we went so it was not so over whelming.

  • Did you actually pay for a tasting at those other three places? Or you had planned to but just didn't. I am looking at tasting at all those places too (except Sugar Factory - I heard they closed actually).
  • @adverb, we're doing the same scouting trip in May. Sugar Factory Bra-la-la-la-la (I can't spell that word) at Paris did close, but apparently the restaurant is still in operation, just in a no-name limbo. Which is probably a good thing, so many people had terrible things to say about their customer service for weddings. :(

  • I'd be hesitant to order a cake from a place in no-name limbo in worries they wouldn't be around.

When in May are you coming?
  • I am interested in hearing more about McMullen's Pub. Does it have a fun vibe to it? We are also using Wedding Wagon and are getting married at the sign. Then, we will have the limo drive us around to a few places and are still trying to find a place for dinner. There will only be 5 of us and we really want it to be a fun place, but nothing where we would feel silly in our wedding attire.

@carrie20150501 I'm Irish. Soooo wanted this to work out. Had high expectations. Totally met them! Food was awesome. Had 5 things off menu. It is totally Irish pub feel. Cubbies to hang out in. Main bar area. Then through another door is another bar and has gambling games. Owner was super nice. Told us about history of him family and bar. Friday nights they have live bands. Range from Celtic to modern music. We are getting married on a Friday night at 7. Cocktail reception til 930 then we plan to hang in bar for music after that. Told us we could reserve a table in front of band. It's a cozy feel. Not like a club or anything. It's on Tropicana by the Orleans.

@adverb Retro doesn't do tastings. You just have to go there and buy combos you want. We paid $20 at Drago Sisters. This will come off our total cake/cupcake bill. Didn't pay anywhere in advance. We didn't go anywhere else because they were so good and helpful. Price was good. I over think everything- so fiance said nope this is it for the cake.

  • Thanks for the info about McMullan's. We are actually staying at The Orleans for a couple of nights, so we will definitely check it out sometime, if not on our wedding night!
  • This sounds like a fun wedding!
