Spring has sprung!

I bought myself some beautiful tulips to go on my dining room table. They are gorgeous. It is 36° today, and tomorrow will be 51°.  I just can't wait for the snow to melt some more. I just love when crocuses pop up from the earth, through the snow. Crocuses are my favorite flowers because to me, they represent the dawn of a new season, and a new beginning.  I love winter, but after the winter we have had, I'm ready for some sunshine!

My favorite part of spring is the buttercups. We have a ton that line our driveway and when I start seeing them i know spring is almost here!

I love the spring rain smell. Like the first semi-warm day where it rains and you can smell dirt.

I LOVE buttercups, I remember holding them beneath my chin and my sisters and I would see if it our chin looked yellow, from the reflection of the buttercups. If it glowed, that meant you liked butter. Lol. Kids are so stupid!

I love when everything starts to turn green again and the buds start showing on the trees.  I also love when it gets warm enough that I can open up my windows and air out the stale winter air.

My iruses are popping up, my dogwoods have flower buds, my azaleas have flower buds, my forsythia bush is starting to bloom. I love spring because of all the color! I also love it because I've been able to wear sandals two days in a row and no jacket at all this week.

The daffodils are my favorite part. My dad loves poetry and he always used to read us this one poem about daffodils when they first started blooming every spring.

Also, I love it when I can stop running the heater and my electric bill goes down. LOVE IT.

We had an almost 60 degree day so I opened all the windows.

 

I really can't wait for the sun to come out. I think I have been suffering from SAD. Also the snow. I hope the snpw melts soon. Parking has been a pain.

These things are possibly my favorite. They're either daffodils or buttercups or narcissus or something. They are my favorites.

And cut grasss and spring rains and baseball getting wound up and flip flops and not looking like a yellow ghost and windows being open/down and happy bright spring colors and freaking everything about spring. If I didn't love fall so much spring would be my favorite season.

I just landed at LAX and it is going to be 90 degrees tomorrow. I blew straight past winter and spring and wound up in full-on summer. YES.

My favorite part of spring is opening up my windows and cleaning everything. And wearing skirts and dresses with no tights. And sandals. And hanging around at the park outside! Okay. I love everything about spring.

Unpopular opinion: Spring is my least favorite season. Everything is so wet and muddy, and temps are so all over the place. I have to wear a heavy-ish coat in the mornings because it is freezing and then lug it to my car with all my other things at the end of the day because it is super warm. Don't get me wrong, I like the flowers, but it's just not my favorite. 

BUT, to answer the original question, my favorite part of spring is being able to open the windows. I always feel like the house, no matter how clean, is SUPER germ-y and gross after being shut up all winter long.

My favorite thing is when it's warm enough to wear dresses everyday. It's basically the start of a whole season where I no longer require pants.

Everything!!!  I hate winter.  I have no idea why I still live so far north.  I love longer days, it's getting warmer.  We're hitting above 0C here, and the only reason I'm not already wearing flip flops and capris is cos of the giant puddles everywhere.  Everything smells fresher too.  I don't even care that it's slushy, ugly and brown for the next month.  It's getting warmer and brighter and closer to summer vacation

The smells! Hyacinths. Dirt after it rains. Fresh air in the house. All the Easter candy mixed together, chocolate and jelly beans. Ham and scalloped potatoes.

Being able to wear dresses again. Not having to take 5 minutes to prep to go outside (layers). All the flowers. Airing out the house. I love it all (spring is my favorite season).

Also, I love the fact that this year temps jumped high enough fast enough that all of our snow has melted in less than a week - even the puddles are gone. Last year (our first in WI), there was a giant puddle in front of our front door for ever. I had to put on my rain boots every day to go to work in order to tramp through it, as well as the 5 other giant puddles on my way to the bus stop. Now, I can wear whatever shoes I want. Win!

Just the start of spring gives me such happy feelings. Being able to put my boots and sweaters away. Driving with the window open. And lilacs.
