It's Monday... again!

Re: It's Monday... again!

  • I haven't read the thread yet but...

I subbed for the first time today! Well, sort of subbed. I assisted a teacher that had been out for two weeks (so she was pretty behind). So, I spent at least half the day making copies, collating, etc. The other part of the day I corralled the  kids (4th graders), had them do math packets, put their essays on colored paper and hung them up on the wall, corrected their math packets. Basically, it was a success! YAYY!

I just need to get into a routine of doing it almost every day so I can actually make a little $$ ... and start waking up at 5 or 5:30am so I can sub at high schools and middle schools.

Came home and took a walk with FI around our neighborhood. I love taking walks these days. I should have been doing this more. I'm totally freaked out by the future and finding a job/ career (preferably one that I don't hate and doesn't make life feel like one monotonous pile of shit AND allows us a semblance of financial security) BUT being jobless has actually made me WANT to be more active, and enjoy it when I am! This hasn't ever happened to me (at least, not since I was an avid dancer from age 2-15. )

Also we got  towels (all of the ones we registered for!) and more RSVPs! I seriously love getting those in the mail.

I'm driving to my parents' house tomorrow morning and spending the night. My brother is home on break from college... really looking forward to seeing them!

Going to read the thread now!

  • @phira that is adorable! FI and I briefly considered something like that, but didn't want to confuse our guests that aren't engineers. I'm glad that it went over well though! Also, I totally just double checked his math. The math works out.

@KeptInStitches I am glad that you had such a great time at your shower!

@GoldenPenguin I hope this week flies by for you for your shower!

    @AlPacina that vacation sounds amazing!

UGH. Today has been rough. Partially due to how sore I am from Pilates yesterday, and partially because my manager assigned me and another engineer to take care of something that is not in our job description at all and that we have other people without engineering degrees who should have this responsibility. Unfortunately, they didn't do it correctly, so it's one of those "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourselves." situations.

The weekend was nice though. On Friday night, we hung out with friends. We went to a local brewery and then went back to their house and played Cards Against Humanity. On Saturday, FI and I had a Skype meeting with an officiant. I really liked her and so did FI, but FMIL knows another officiant and basically already asked him to do it for us without asking us first. We at least want to give him a chance, especially since he has known FI since he was very little and was already on our guest list. FI didn't realize he had started officiating weddings after retiring from his IT job, which is why we hadn't considered him at first. We are trying to set up a meeting with him too, and then will decide from there. I love my FMIL, and I know she is trying to be helpful, but I wish she wouldn't go behind our backs like that and instead just say "Oh so and so is also officiating weddings, here is his contact info if you want to reach out to him!". I will have to have a discussion with her about it next time I see her.

And then FI's aunt messaged me on Facebook asking if his grandmother (she lives with the aunt) could wear a gown to our wedding instead of a dress and what color should she wear. I cannot believe the number of people that have asked me what color and/or what they should wear! My mother, FMIL, my aunt, and now FI's aunt and grandmother too! I feel like a broken record telling them whatever they want to wear and that I am sure they will look great no matter what! I did tell his aunt that we are having a more formal wedding (not black tie but close; no attire will be mentioned on invites or the website though) and that all of my bridesmaids will be in long gowns, so a gown would be perfectly fine, but definitely not required.

As I said, I did Pilates for the first time with a friend Sunday morning, and am so sore! I also ran some errands yesterday, and then FI and I went out to dinner last night. We had Mexican, and it was amazing. Tonight, we will probably catch up on OUAT while eating leftovers from last night and go to sleep early.

  • @CocobellaF - I didn't see your pictures before, I love everything you got! So cute!

@Dignity100 - Happy late birthday! I went on a cruise a few years ago and have a stockpile of info in my brain from planning it. I was really nervous about literally everything because it was my first time so feel free to PM me if you want!

@phira - That is amazing! Your brother did such a good job!

  • @TwoDimes I'm not having a shower, I didn't want one. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. So I will just sit back and see everyone else's cool gifts!

@AuroraRose41 I feel you on people asking what they should wear. Um, I don't care- wear what you want. My FMIL got a dress this weekend and my mom said it looks really similar to my grandmother's dress so she wanted to know if we should ask my grandmother to look for a different dress! I was like WTF NO. We also told one of the GM before that he could just pick any suit in a certain color and he insisted we pick what he's wearing, he said it's my job to pick what they're wearing...
